I've not seen 2202 yet so can't comment on it - it did have a lot to live up to between 2199 and the original second season of Yamato. The New Voyages on the other hand was the start of the downhill slope for Yamato so not as much to live up to there.

I have to admit I found the third movie entertaining in a way. I laughed my butt off in the opening sequence where Colonel know it all about stealth is sneaking around in the desert with his headlights on. I don't even remember if I watched the rest of the movie after that. I suppose I did.

The Matrix Resurrections (What is The Matrix 4?)
Dynaman replied to TangledThorns's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The thing with the Matrix is - why is the Matrix a "bad" thing. Sure your real body is in a dump but you never know that unless a bunch of jerks "wake" you up and make your life miserable.- 287 replies

And "Cowboys vs Aliens" in case you have forgotten - which most have. (except those looking to see what kind of box office to expect with him NOT in a Bond picture)- 96 replies

Yes. The Jingoistic nonsense of the sequels was annoying. The first film, though flawed, was thought provoking. The last film (before this one) was better then the 2nd and 3rd by a long shot though.

The Matrix Resurrections (What is The Matrix 4?)
Dynaman replied to TangledThorns's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They Matrix tried to be deep but ended up very shallow. The first one had mind blowing special FX and didn't take the dime store philosophy mumbo jumbo too far. The 2nd and 3rd THOUGHT they had something profound to say, and well, they didn't- 287 replies

Just about all of it.

There really were very few "filler" episodes in B5. The ones that appeared to be filler were always setting up something for later. The problem is you had to get to later to appreciate them. The acting was very wooden (sadly we now know why and Michael O'Hare probably deserves an Oscar in retrospect) and the pacing was off in that first season as well and "The Gathering" was a case where all the exciting stuff happened off screen.

That's kinda like saying Carrie Fischer was unknown till Star Wars came out. Both were cultural touchstone movies that made stars out of their actors. Just in the case of Easy Rider there was no chance of a sequel. (and it was just pretty much unheard of except in the case of low budget movie serials of low worth till Star Wars and the blockbuster era).

Now for the Amazon video to become available. I've made the jump to no more physical media. And I don't want to just "rent" the right to watch it on Funimation without the ability to download.

I've heard plenty say they DON'T want a Kenobi movie. Watching him pound sand on Tattoine is exactly a thrill ride.

Wait? Ending already. Has there been any of the interpersonal relationships Macross was famous for in the comic? If so it must have been one or two panels between toothy grins.

> no amount of 'splaining is going to excuse the fact that Spock watched his homeworld dissolve into a black hole with his naked eyes, from a moon in orbit of that same planet. I always thought that was a different solar system - which brings up a whole nother can of worms...

That is still up in the air. Was Solo a one off problem or does it hint at a systemic problem caused by how bad episode 8 was? Is the low crowd size at Galaxy's Edge caused by the normal crowds at Disney and a price increase designed to bring crowds down (personally I don't buy that for a minute, crowd control is one thing but historically thin crowds when a major new attraction opens is not what Disney was expecting) or is it also something systemic brought on by episode 8? It is not impossible for Episode 9 to under perform badly, not bomb as such but not be the runaway blockbuster Disney is hoping for.

What they are missing is somone to ride herd on the directors - this isn't the place for someone to do their own thing each movie, they have to learn to work within a very strict set of guidelines - like you have to do with TV shows that have a season arc.

Hey now! That bit about Han showing up at just the right time and place is one of the more logical things in the latest movies... I kinda, halfway, remember some throwaway dialog to "explain" it and just went along for the ride.

True - but the story as directed wasn't well done and well "NNNNNoooooo"..... Takes a LOT of ineptitude to make Vader such a wimp. Darth Millennial was always a wimp so no problems for them messing him up.

Checking the Box Office for the weekend I see the film took in 17 mil with a budget of 49 mil. In the olden days that would be considered a bomb. Since Foreign figures are not released yet it might still be considered a modest success or at least break even. (not in regards to paying royalties though...)

My feeling at the end of RotJ was "that was really mediocre". I'm fairly certain I'll have the same feeling at the end of RoS. On the plus side that would put it a step up from TLJ where ESB was the pinnacle of the franchise.
