  1. I thought it was Billy and the Boingers' "You Stink, But I Love You"
  2. His most violent movies were rated R, which a minor could not get into legally without an adult. Putting the same restriction on video game sales is a good thing - perhaps it will clear up the amount of foul mouthed "dialog" that gets thrown into videogames simply to get it that coveted M rating.
  3. I did that with Ultraman way back when, now I watch it and laugh since the monster has a zipper in the back and slippers on... Nothing wrong with a good scare - if it is too scary they kid can always turn off the TV. I've got a problem with the foul language that seems to be required these days though.
  4. Robot Chicken, I have never seen a Robotech reference on the show, that says something about the actual cultural impact and popularity of Robotech I think. (sadly there have been no Star Blazers references either)
  5. Don't forget Peter and David did a special together as well. It's floating around on the web somewhere. The writing of the episode was not the problem, it just didn't seem to gell for some reason. I think part of it is the character chemistry is a bit off, no offense to the guy playing Rory - but the show is better off without that character.
  6. All the elements of what should have gone into a good Who story were there, but it left me cold for some reason. I'm still watching Who each week but I'm afraid the show is in a slow period. (and I'm not a Matt Smith hater, I think he is OK - it's just hard to follow a REALLY popular Doctor and get a fair shake, just ask Peter Davison)
  7. Not really, look what happened to scifi (er, syfy). I don't watch the reality crap on there - but more and more of it keeps appearing each season. Quantum Kitchen anyone? I guess I should be fair, there was no idiotic animated sitcom on syfy this season (unless I blocked it out after that outer space astronauts things from last year)...
  8. CG is, for the most part, still relegated to "Cutesy" stuff here in the states - or Special Effects. If it falls outside of the talking animal joke shows then most distributers do not know what to do with it. Pixar's "The Incredibles" being the one major exception (their other movies falling into the cute animal realm for the most part - but UP is a hard one to pin down). Robert Zemeckis' stuff is not helping other, when Santa from Polar Express looks like he belongs in "CreepShow" then there is a problem. I'm hoping CG gets a more general breakout from the cute stuff into more serious or action movie fare - but I'm afraid it will end up getting the same treatment that animation got in the USA.
  9. To paraphrase Sy Steinburg(*) "Wonder Woman, there is a lady with HUGE talents!" (*) - I'm the USA up all night Dynaman...
  10. Saw it yesterday, made a decent mid-season cliffhanger and a lousy series finale. A little esposition (like Caprica got) would have been nice. A wrap-up TV movie would be nice for this show, probably not a chance in hades of it happening, but it would be nice.
  11. Yes it has, but it's always nice to see it again. The interesting part is that the voice acting on that thing isn't bad...
  12. You got cheated somehow, Episodes 5 and 6 were on last thursday, the Jupiter and Saturn episodes. Next week is the Pluto episodes (can't remember if there are one or two of them).
  13. That would be the fault of whoever did the restore of the film, nothing to do with the age of the film in particular. Best example I can think of is the latest version of Metropolis - earlier restoration jobs were very bad in comparison, now the film on DVD is very crisp. If anyone is going to put the proper resources into the restore of a movie it will be George with Star Wars. (although he may decide to change even more along the way...) Personally I have no plans of picking these up though, I already own SW on DVD and things just don't look that much better between DVD/BD from the 10 feet away that I watch TV from.
  14. He had crosshairs on his forehead the moment he opened his mouth. (or hummed or whistled, whichever it was he did first)
  15. Pretty funny how times change, I remember just before Arnold's Conan movie came out - people were complaining that Arnie didn't look like Conan.
  16. Now you got me thinking "Protoculture fields" to the tune of "Strawberry fields", thanks a lot...
  17. Yes. I have them taped for watching sometime this weekend.
  18. I'm pretty sure it was not meant to be that way, the series writers probably got word the show was getting axed after at least 75% of this season's episodes were already shot, much less written. Most likely all the had time for was to write a finale into the "last" episode. (Anyone know if they even had that much time, or was the show cancelled after things had already been written and shot?)
  19. Maybe they should buy a new USB stick and post pictures of it on the blog? (assuming it is in the budget)
  20. If you are going that route, check out Pop Chaser. No tentacles but I love that one.
  21. It's available free on the net... Even better, Rifftrax did a number on it (including the commercials) [OOPS] - forgot to mention it is bad quality, but it's the Christmas Special...
  22. Been watching Star Blazers on SciFi (SyFy...), I'm amazed at how well it holds up. The broadcast quality is decent and the animation itself is better then I remember. (I love the show itself, but I suspected the animation would look more dated then it actually does)
