Didn't Hasegawa already release all three Max 1Ses? Or maybe not, I can never keep track of all the variants they've put out.

    Anyway, HLJ links:

    Max VF-1S: https://www.hlj.com/1-72-scale-vf-1s-battroid-valkyrie-max-hsg65884

    Milia Q-Rau: https://www.hlj.com/1-72-scale-quadran-law-milia-movie-version-hsgm32

I think I asked this before way back when, but have they ever officially romanized her name? Is it "Milia" or "Miriya" or...?

    Instant pre-order done :)

Yes, some commenters are hoping that the appearance of the fighter pod would be foreshadowing. I do believe that Hasegawa has done this in the past. Maybe with the Crusher Joe kits. I cannot remember.

By that logic we would have a ghost X-9 by now, as it is shown on the YF-21 box art.

  3. Digital workbench ... in KSP2 ...

Kid wanted to see a YF-19 fly.

edit: quick Update from the real world workbench. My kid is obsessed with my Master Grade 1/100 RX-78-2 and he always wants to play with it. So I got him a HG 1/144 RX-78-2 for around ~10€ off ebay.

the build took roughly one hour. Articulation of the joints is really impressive for this scale. Nothing to compare to MG or PG, but still impressive. I’d recommend it.

Thank you for your response, and thank you for the welcome.

I did not know Jasmine had re released their photo etch for that model. I am very pleased that they did. I will wave to pick up sets for both my 1/48 and 1/72 YF-19s.

I have the ones for the 1/72 yf-19. really good quality!

    Hello!

This is my first post here. I have tried researching this info elsewhere. All the websites I have checked are out of stock, and my go to, Hobby Link Japan says they are in backorder.

Does anybody know if Hasegawa still produces the photo etch sets for their 1/48 YF-19 Excalibur kit?

    Thanks,

    ~RW

They will eventually re-issue them frequently. I saw that happening at least two times now (could be more though), so you just have to wait. You can also check Jasmine Models photo etched sets if you are up for something fancy.

    https://jasmodel.shop/products/248001-pe-upgrade-parts-for-hasegawa-1-48-macross-plus-yf-19

There are some re-sellers that sell the set for outrageous prices if you really want the original hasegawa ones.

    PS: Welcome to the board!

  6. Workbench stuff!

I didn‘t have time or space to go on with modell kits in the past weeks/months, so I got this for 2.62€ from the TEMU online store Temu is some Ali Express style china store. They had a new customer promotion, so instead of 30€ I got it for 2.62€.

PS: no advertisement for the store, because everything else (if not promoted) is just the same stuff as on Ali Express.

Anyway, this was worth every little cent.

Show and tell day from Prime Day sales! Little magnetic parts holders that have flexible metal stands! Brilliant! I bought 2 sets, $12 each. Also picked up (both from Barbatos Rex's recommendations video) for $47... an airbrush and USB-C rechargeable portable mini compressor with 3 adjustable PSI settings. Now the airbrush is, let's be honest, crap. It sprays, at one speed. Basically a point 03 single action. Fine, whatever. The real draw here is the mini compressor! Because look what screwed right onto it after some trial and error.. My Iwata Eclipse! Unfortunately my GSI Creos point 02 won't quite line up with the threads. Darn. Whatever, this now gives me an EASY way to spray small parts indoors at my model desk (100 % true acrylics only of course) Vallejo / Mission Models etc... NO SMELL and water or Windex cleanup. No more BAKING TO DEATH in the garage in the heat for me for small part painting! YAY!

Nice - I was thinking about purchasing one of these as well. How long does the charge hold up?

  8. Not really my workbench, but I gave my kid my over 20 years old yf-19 to play with. He loves planes. I knew what would happen and I didn’t mind, because I have a brand new YF-19 kit waiting for me in the basement.

this is what pros call „natural heavy weathering“ XD

the kit falling apart due to heller glue (useless kit glue, takes ages to dry) and was heavily damaged by my siblings less than a year after I finished it. It was in bad shape already…

Hehe, I might add more details later, but I'm building this primarily for a VR-focused sim pit, so I couldn't see them anyhow. ^_^  I'm leaving room on the back of the panels for extra stuff to be added if I want it later.

The TACAN dial is kind of a "best cheap option" though.  The numbers won't work, because I would need to either build a fancy gearbox to convert the motion into the right increments, or find myself a dual-axis multi-position switch dial with 14 notches.   The two dial segments do work independently, but they're just driving a dual-axis rotary switch that'll increase or decrease with each click.  It'll work for giving me something to interact with that isn't a cross-cockpit mouse click though, so that's all I really need.

hahaha - yeah, good point. Maybe you can use gears and transmit them to single axis dials or something. That might work, but maybe that is a bit of overkill hahaha.

I had the same thought, but wondered if the colors in the photo might just be making it too saturated.  That probably is the color it was painted, but it didn't come out that bright on screen.  It should probably match the lighter blue seen on the panels around the deflector dish, the one directly under the starfleet emblem.

I guess this sort of thing theoretically counts as being on my workbench, since it's my current project, but I'm getting deep into the DCS cockpit build process.  While I know a lot of people make tutorials with laser-cut acrylic panels and backlighting, I decided to try what I had on-hand, which is just my 3D printer.  I'm not worried about backlighting or gauges/displays for VR, so as long as the buttons are in the right place, they should serve me perfectly well (and I've left room in the radio panel for a frequency panel just in case).

Bonus points if you can ID the component reference names, and what plane they're from. ^_^

Dude ... hahahahaah that is awesome. You are missing the seven segment display on the UHF radio for the freq. You gonna build that? Is the dial working on the rotary switch for the TACAN control panel? Gonna have the numbers on it as well? I know exactly which plane this is from, but want to let others give it a try as well.
