  3. Still haven't watched so never realized that was a thing. Googled around to check. Now it makes sense. My googling has revealed an old thread on here with an image that proves the gunpod is wrong though. It's supposed to also have a white version of the Kai's speaker launcher rather than the regular gunpod lol
  4. That kit looks sickie! Lol Thanks a bunch for the info.
  5. I think it's the camera angle, and the head design. 171 is taken slightly top down, so it's proportions are squatted, and the chest looks lower than it really is. The head and its colors are blended into the ear lasers, which gives it a photogenic V shaped silhouette that follows how the chest also tapers together towards the front. 17S is taken level with the waist. That makes the chest look as wide and thin as it really is, and looks like it hangs high up on the skinny torso. The legs' full lankiness are exposed by the direct flat angle. The head is cylindrical and silver, which stands out like a soda can, while the lasers are dark with no highlights so they blend in to the back side parts and main body, making them contribute little to the silhouette and proportions of the head. Overall it it makes the head look too narrow for how wide the chest is, and the chest too wide for those legs. It's basically a "V" shape vs a "t" shaped silhouette. Only one of them looks like an angry robot.

    HMR VF-19P

I mean the VF-19P uses traditional style micro missile ports in the lower legs to launch it's micro missiles, rather than the opening bay door that the VF-19Kai/F/S use. So technically it's correct for the leg doors not to open on the VF-19P HMR. I was actually quite impressed that Bandai got this detail correct on the VF-19P HMR.
  7. Today
  8. I don't have mine yet, but if I'm not mistaken, you just need to flip one wing up at the wing root hinge and drop that leg at the intake/thigh. You've already got it out of the box, so it shouldn't be much more work to take a peek. You just need to see the top of the "101" and the corner that it should/shouldn't align with. This is assuming there really aren't any double same sided shoulders in circulation.
  9. Poly caps don’t hold up as well on the bigger kits like master grades and they’ve kinda switched to a styrene that’s more like ABS that holds up better. a lot of the Chinese kits are all ABS, like my Iron Sickie🤮. I still love that they’ve rereleased that kit a few times and haven’t corrected that awesome typo It does get a bit more risky with lacquer thinners though.Seen a few people online getting cracks on unpainted kits when using panel liners and that really wasn’t a thing with the older styrene. Gotta at least top coat kits these days.
  10. Thank you for your insights and opinion as always. With that, then I may be learning towards the Hi-Metal ones. I just wish they had a metal siren version. I love that one! Sad that we can't get a good perfect transformation screen accurate one. Funny. I used to write Macross II off, but you were the one here and on the old robotech boards, that made me appreciate it and in the end love it more. Thanks again Seto, appreciate you.
  11. Still stuck at the bus stop, waiting for a bus that was vaporized in Space War 1...
  12. The relative lack of demand doesn't surprise me. Between the 171's terrible history, and the Yamato VF-17 just existing, I can't imagine anyone really attached to that design is scrambling to pick one up.
  13. Interesting. Wonder why?
  14. Strangely, Bandai has come full circle and polycaps are becoming a thing of the past

    DX VF-27 Revival

I was afraid of that. I was hoping to suss out the valk's shoulder assembly status w/o transforming it just in case I decide to sell it MIB at some point. I guess I'll just list the pauldrons' assembly as "unknown" if I ever decide to sell it. It sure is a pretty valk, though.
  16. Whoops double post
  17. Was able to prime and paint a few elements today. Then it’s onto glueing said parts within the armor, seam removal and priming more parts. Having to finish parts within unfinished parts is standard on these old kits. No poly caps. I found some mr color lacquers made for the Gundam Char mech which are the same scheme and will be perfect for the armor. I’m stoked!
  18. Unfortunately it cannot be determined just by looking at the underside. It would need to be transformed into armless gerwalk mode (legs down) to reveal the sides of the shoulders at the very least.
  19. I'm wondering if Japanese local stores still have it available (PO sales reflecting demand). (I'm aware the following ship internationally*) I checked Hobbysearch and the PO is sold out (while the VF19K is available), hlj still has the VF17S available, so does AmiAmi.

    DX VF-27 Revival

My Lucifer just arrived. Are the shoulders assembled incorrectly on all of the revivals? Can one tell just by looking at the underside?

    DX Chogokin VF-17S

I wonder if a lot of Japanese Macross fans are complaining about the DX VF-17S design?
  22. Yet to actually take the Moshow out of the box and play with it.😅 But, so far I'd say the Sentinel.
  23. For those interested: EXO-6 Kelvin Time Spock, $220 USD + $25 USD S+H
  24. If I have any choice in the matter, I'll be off world somewhere, either in the solar system or on one of the early colonies. In fact, I'd have probably been off world already even before the war. I've been staring at the sky and longing for the stars my whole life. As soon as it became possible in the setting, I'd like to think I would have jumped at the opportunity.
