I don’t have any Takatoku or early Bandai chunkys easily accessible to see but from the pictures I’ve looked at and SH saying he has it on his Jetfire, I’m assuming it must have been an original design that was on all of them. You can see in this picture that @jvmacrossshared of his Strike Valk, that it seems to have the same design. So that tab sticking out, push from the top (above it) down (towards the black screw) and you should notice it is spring loaded.

Debating it. I really like the color, and although it's not a real Apples-to-Apples (pun totally intended) until they benchmark the Neo, synthetic CPU benchmarks of the A18 in an iPhone suggest that it is an improvement over the M1. I could spend extra and get an Air M4, if the prices go down when the M5 hits, but since the M5 has a price increase over the M4 I think there's less pressure to do so. Right now an M4 looks to be around $900 still, which is half again the price of the Neo. I mean, so do I, which is why I have a 2025 Zephyrus G14. I take that with me when I travel, and I'll bust it out if I want to do some real work but don't feel like going upstairs and getting on my desktop (which is where I do 99% of my gaming). I mostly use my M1 Air when I'm couch surfing but need a real keyboard, because it's lighter and has better battery life than Zephyrus. I also have a stand by my desk so that if I need to look at the internet or something while I'm playing a game on my desktop I don't have to alt-tab out of it. Yeah, that's my real point. A MacBook Neo isn't a high-end computer for gaming or professionals, but if you're in either of those categories you're already budgeting for more. But I think the majority of people are doing most of their computing in a web browser, be it streaming video, surfing the web, checking email, doing schoolwork, etc. Those sorts of people don't want to spend a ton on more power that they don't need, and I really don't think there's a better sub-$600 option right now. When I bought my new G14 my dad was freaking out because his laptop had Windows 10, Microsoft was ending support for it, and it was so old he couldn't upgrade to 11. I wound up just giving him my old G14, but if he asked me today what he should get I'd tell him MacBook Neo. I'm less enthusiastic about the iPhone 17e. I mean, it is probably a good deal, and I expect I'll be buying one in the near future for my daughter, but I personally don't like iOS. -
That's what I did and there is no springy-action that you and Betsuni were talking about. The peg just gets un-tab when you press down on it since you're giving it space to unhook. There is no springy-action, tho. At least, not on my Super-1S. edit: btw, we should be clear that one pushes down the peg area below the trap-door, instead of the trap-door or the backplate itself. Pushing down the trap-door or the backplate itself may just result in tragic breakage...

Ok, I’m not sure if I can post a video as easy as photos here but I think I can explain. See the top part circled in this picture? That tab that locks into the hole in the fuselage circled below it, is spring loaded. From the perspective of this picture, you could push up on it. When transforming to Battroid like in the videos you posted, you can see the same tab from a top view through the door that the head fits through and you can press down on it to make tabbing it in easier, and when transforming from Battroid mode, you can open the door and press down on it to release the tab without forcing anything. It’s definitely not obvious unless you know it’s there, which is what makes it another insanely cool feature that I went decades not knowing. I hope that makes more sense now.
-
Hmm. Maybe you need to demonstrate it. I took out my old Super and tried it. It only untabs the the clip when I pushed down the backplate, but with no springy action.

Yeah I already own these but I'm hoping for a retool of SS86 Bumblebee for Cliffjumper and a recolor of Cyclonus to fit in my collection better.- 18229 replies

Exactly! @betsuni is the only person I've ever seen mention that when transforming from battroid mode, you can open the back door and press down on the spring loaded latch for easy release. I'm wondering who else knew that because I sure didn't and not ashamed to admit it.

Yeah my point of reference was 1985 when I was a kid and had G1 Jetfire. Nothing was mentioned in the G1 instructions and I wondered what the part was for. I also never owned the Takatoku 1/55 VF-1 as a kid. Congrats to the person who knew it before others. Here's a cookie. The question was how many people knew about the feature.
-
I edited my post after you quoted but once again, not a single one of those mentions specifically the spring loaded nature of the clip and that you can press down on it to release. They only mention the clip in part, which I think is obvious and the part that is kind of mind blowing is the easy release part that no one mentions.

Yeah. That will be kinda bizarro weird to it take apart for a feature. Got me interested a bit to check out if other reviewers that touched on this easy-to-ignore feature and remembered CDX 2009-review of the 1990 Super Valk did point it out at the 12:13 time-stamp here: and kinda did at the 13:23 time-stamp with the hard push-to-click stuff on the Origins VF-1S back in 2010: Like most everyone else, we just kinda muscle-memory/habit it just like EVA_Unit_4A did without really dwelling on it since it's just so logical... add/edit: here's Peaugh's talking about it back in 2010 at the 6:09 time-stamp: Really assumed @jenius old reviews may have mentioned it in passing as well, but not sure anymore... edit2: Yup. @jenius kinda alluded to it briefly when clicky-unsecuring of the backplate in his review at the 6:29 time-stamp: @Slave IV was talking about the "spring-action" unhooking by pushing down the peg/peg-area instead.

I get you don’t have to take it apart. Not really a feature if that was the case. I meant it makes sense someone who took the whole toy apart would notice it. Either way, thanks for sharing the video. That is the only other time I’ve seen it mentioned now. Edit: After watching it again and listening to the translated version, he doesn't mention the spring loaded feature at all. Just that you need to clip that part in, which you never need to know about the feature to do. He doesn't transform back from Battroid mode where it could be mentioned that you can press down on that part to release the clip.

Are we expecting either of them to be interesting? Cliffjumper could be a retool of SS86 Bumblebee, and depending on how much they retooled I might consider that an upgrade over the previous 86 Cliffjumper (which was just a repaint of the Earthrise toy). I'm like 99% certain that Cyclonus is a repaint of the Kingdom toy, though. It's a fantastic figure if you don't own it, but I think the original deco is fine, not sure how they'd improve it. Speaking of missing figures, a reissued Commander-class Armada Optimus will go up for preorder tomorrow (March 5th). Commander-class Armada Jetfire will not go up for preorder this month, but we expect Hasbro to reveal it soon. On March 10th preorders will go up for Studio Series Titan-class Grimlock, and Monstructor goes up on the 17th.- 18229 replies

You don't have to take it apart. That feature has been long known, but I guess was just easy to forget since the 1/55 TF process is way so simple OOB and stuff. At least this reviewer recently explained it with his retro-review at the 10:40 time-stamp: As such and fwiw as a trivia, Bandai kinda replicated that feature in their DX VF-1 line:
-
Ooh.... that is new to me as well! Guess I haven't been transforming them enough!
-
That makes sense if you are taking the whole thing apart. Only parts I ever took apart are the shoulders to fix the ratchets and the cockpit as part of the intended shield swap. Luckily never had problems besides the shoulder on any of mine and I don’t like to paint or alter my toys. Still interesting I’ve never heard it mentioned before, even in the instructions.

Well, with news getting worse by the day (Dell gonna have a bad next quarter it seems, either unable to deliver or need to charge customers WAY more to fulfill existing contracts), I figured "they can all raise prices on existing stock AGAIN" with no warning, so I picked up that one at CostCo I linked to earlier. Pulled all but one off the shelf to look at serial numbers, picked the highest number (should be the newest one), and lucked out and got the one with the better mobo (4 RAM slots, better heat sinks for the VRM etc). So if I can ever acquire more RAM, it's ready. Not setting it up tonight, too many other things to do. **with component prices soaring, every retailer is seeing huge numbers of "returns" with pieces plucked out, that eventually get shipped back out to unsuspecting customers. Far more horror stories than usual, I wouldn't trust buying a whole tower online from ANY of the major retailers right now. Gotta go grab one in-person to visually inspect that it's factory-fresh and sealed. ***also, just since yesterday, CostCo sold out of my #3 choice. So "good options" are dwindling rapidly. (they had 2 of my top 3, and I didn't feel like risking Amazon 3rd-party seller for my #1 choice) -
It's just a picture of the Rick Hunter cyclone box. I paid the exorbitant price for one... But just so I can have it on the site... That price is crazy.

No matter how many times I click your link, the page never loads. Strange. Anyway, love that cyclone. I thought about picking up the special edition on the secondary market but the prices were just unreasonable.

Mike you really thinking of getting this Apple Chromebook? It's stylish and has the Apple name to appeal to students but i need a GPU and OS that's compatible with PC games. Apple is becoming the good discount value in tech right before this RAM shortages kills the PC industry. This and apple giving us the iphone 17 with 256gb and 120 pro motion for the same price as the 16 is amazing value which is why they're killing it in sales this year with the 17. This is prob going to do the same for entry level notebooks: -

Yes I've known it since taking apart Jetfires back in the day. There's a spring in that area.

It looks good, just wish it was a little more 'family friendly.'

Got a shipping notice from BBTS for the Sentinel Legioss, apparently they're on the boat now and BBTS expects to ship it to customers in April. Still silence on the Tread.
