  2. It occurs to me this is probably a direct response to Space War 1, and what we learned about the history of the galaxy at large and Earth's aggressors. The tale of the zentradi and the protoculture stands as a very large warning sign that has "don't make custom-engineered supersoldiers" written very large and in an awful lot of blood.
  3. Ohhh I have this set from years ago, I recall the black box from the 1st release. It's been so long I believe I acquired this from Robotech.com.
  4. Macross Frontier and later works use the term "implant" as a generic/catch-all term for any kind of cybernetic implant. Both the series proper and supplemental material indicate that there are laws governing the use of implant technology both at the local government level and the central New UN Government level. The New UN Government imposed strict regulations and restrictions on cybernetics research after the First Space War in order to keep humanity's cybernetics research focused on humane and ethically-sound medical applications and outlaw research aimed at weaponizing cyborgs. The kind of implants that are legal everywhere (incl. Frontier) are medically-necessary organ and limb replacements. The kind of thing used to repair catastrophic injuries like the loss of a limb or an eye. The few examples we've seen suggest that these implants don't exceed the performance of the original human body parts they replaced and look visibly artificial. (Macross R's Oscar Brauhitsch has a cybernetic arm, which looks more like Ed's automail arm from Fullmetal Alchemist than a convincing counterfeit human arm.) The restrictions on elective implants seem to have been relaxed a little c. the late 2040s, since that's when we see the Macross Galaxy fleet change its local laws to explicitly permit elective implant surgery for things like "the internet in your brain" multimedia/network implants. We've seen a few wealthy and well-connected folks living elsewhere also have those implants, so presumably they were legalized in other places as well after restrictions were relaxed. Frontier's ban on all but medically necessary implants is supposedly driven mainly by the fleet's bioplant environment system which recycles all organic material. Implants aren't biodegradable/recyclable after all, and would have to be manually removed from the body before processing could take place. Summing up... Frontier, Uroboros, etc. are probably far more representative of the galactic norm on cybernetics. You might get a couple rich idiots who paid a fortune to get their brains hooked up to the WiFi, but most people are in factory condition.

If you enjoy never before seen pre-production art , pick up the new book ART OF BATTLE – Koichi Ohata Robot Chronicle https://japanese-creative-books.com/product/illustration/art-of-battle-koichi-ohata-robot-chronicle/ 10 pages full of good stuff. I think at least 90% I've never seen before. And if you like Galvion art, there is stuff in here too which isn't even in that Galvion book released a while ago. Go buy this-its cheap and very cool
  6. Today
  7. I do know that sometimes Bandai stuff is a week behind when they go up for preorder here, but if they’re just waiting on the Tariff stuff to calm down or go away, I’m kinda ok with that. I just don’t wanna totally miss out on the only sh figuarts item that got my interest in the last couple years
  8. Yeah the level of visceral violence in the second game was nearly a character itself, Ellie and Abby both go to great lengths for revenge, and their path there is frakking brutal. like, put the controller down for an hour brutal.
  9. I think due to the stupid tariff situation Bluefin/Bandai is hesitant about releasing stuff in the US right now. I was reading lots of different Tamashii Nations stuff isn't popping up on US sites right now, Metal Build Gundam, Figuarts, Monsterarts, Chogokin, etc.
  10. As I said...I had no knowledge of the game's events so was just enjoying the show without any expectations....but killing off your main character is pretty bold, regardless of the media....it's a great show so far, so will give them the benefit of the doubt that they can keep it going....
  11. It's why I want see the producers (who also are the game's creators) recreate some of those kill montage videos folks have posted on YT. I really want the producers to show us how much anger and brutality Ellie is willing to demonstrate to get to Joel's killers. I really want the producers to SHOW, not tell us, how far Ellie is willing to go to get revenge.
  12. I kinda thought they’d offer it up already since a lot of other figures showed up for preorder that were up that night. I keep checking the American sites and none of the ones I use have shown it for preorder yet, maybe next week hopefully
  13. I don't know, Joel was a solid character, but I just didn't get as attached as others did from the first game, especially at the end, I figured someone somewhere should be wanting revenge, and there you go. I also loved the story of Last of Us 2, I know it's dark, and the message is pretty much revenge is bad and the cycle to seek it never ends, but it made perfect sense within the context of the first game's events. And the Abby "twist" was fantastic, I loved seeing the other side and getting dual protagonists basically being the other character's antagonist, it all worked for me.
  14. They don’t want to promote the use of tobacco, but they’re ok with armed robbery, Murder and chemical disfigurement
  15. Sounds kinda like the stuff we saw in the first couple episodes of this season when it wasn’t focused on Andor. there’s also that amazing action with a certain operative in a mission that went sideways that ended up with her in recovery that we didn’t get to see just before things went sideways in a way she couldn’t recover from that we didn’t get to see
  16. I'm in for Chrono Trigger the same way I am for the DQ3 remake... when it goes on sale on Steam, because I'm NOT paying $60 for a game that old, no matter how shiny the graphics. Heck, even the Oblivion remaster (which I'll put a lot more time into) is only $50.
  17. Most people thought they were just gonna kill him off last season. I do get what you’re saying though. They made him into such a big character and to be honest I thought it was a mistake to get rid of him for the game as well. It’s definitely going to be missing something big going forward without Joel, but it’s also one of the better shows out right now. Overall, so far it’s definitely better than the new season of Andor, but that could change either with the lack of Joel or the next batch of Andor episodes that could be great
  18. This might belong more in the Short Questions thread, and if so I apologize and will move it. Was rewatching Frontier and the line in the recap episode where the Galaxy cabal note that Frontier was perfect for their plans in part because of their ban on implant technology caught my attention. While "implant" can mean a lot of things, it made me wonder if the rest of the galaxy is more like Grace and Brera and super cyborgs are the norm on Earth and Eden these days? Certainly Zentradi have a long history of cybernetics and it seems fighter technology has advanced to the point where you almost need to be enhanced to properly control one, so it would stand to reason. Just wondering if the setting materials give any hint to the state of "everyone else" in the current story years. Delta probably isn't a reliable gauge since it's out in the poor hinterlands of the galaxy, though the second movie seems to lean pretty heavily into cyber/AI bad guys so maybe that reinforces the idea. Is Macross headed towards a transhuman future, or has it already gotten there and all we're seeing are the lonely, left-behind luddites?
  19. But he's literally not in the second game, so...
  20. I had no previous exposure to the Last of Us game franchise....really enjoyed Season 1....but was really shocked that they killed off Joel...wtf?!? I am not sure if I am all that interested in any of the other characters, especially Ellie....I find her sort of annoying... It sort of reminds me off how they killed off Glenn from Walking Dead....personally, the show went downhill after that.....the death of Joel is eve worse....he's literally the main character as far as I'm concerned... Oh well....will keep watching for now
  21. While Chrono Trigger is my favorite video game of all time, I’m not a huge the 2.5D semi pixel art style they implemented for the Live a Live remake and such. If they want to sway me over with the remake, they need to do something really, really special. The SNES version is a flawless masterpiece to me. I know I’m setting myself up for failure but the remake will only succeed if it makes me feel like my 14 year old self playing Chrono Trigger in 1996 on a CRT TV on an original SNES. I still have that SNES, that controller and that cartridge. But no CRT and I’m not 14 anymore.
  22. @BroTaku79 Plans to offer base stands in the roadmap a la carte style? Do we have an ETA for Pro stand availability?
