  1. No. Just no. There is no sequel book. They'd be making it up on their own, and that's a whole different kettle of fish from adaptation. Just ask Benioff and Weiss. The show runners talked about wanting to adapt another really good Clavell novel, Tai Pan. I was excited by the prospect of that. I am not excited about this news.
  2. I watched the first episode of Tales of the Empire and am not sure I'll watch anymore. I have no idea who this character is, the story was pretty thin, and I'm just not interested in what happens next.
  3. I have to agree. I'd actually prefer that they went back to the Old Republic era. I'll watch this show, but I had greater interest after seeing the first trailer than I did after this new one. My expectations just got lowered.
  4. Just checked the DVDs and this issue doesn't exist there. Also, I've noticed subtitle timing issues on the Crunchyroll stream as well. Their presentation is pretty shoddy.
  5. I need to check my DVDs, but I definitely think there's something wrong with the video in the Crunchyroll stream. There's a regular video glitch at the bottom of the frame that I noticed in the first episode last week that is still occurring. I don't recall it being an issue with the DVDs.
  6. It definitely moves the needle on my opinion of it.
  7. Watched the first episode and I'm pretty sure this is from the same transfer we've had for years. It's rough.
  8. I wonder what the quality is like? I still have the old DVD set. I'll have to check this out.
  9. To the best of my recollection, Clavell doesn't depict warfare in any of his novels. That's simply not what they're about.
  10. As someone who has read the book twice and has seen the original miniseries probably 10 times over the past 30 years, I'm glad it ended the way it did. They did a really excellent job with the new miniseries, with my only quibble being that Blackthorne doesn't come across as inquisitive (or perhaps intelligent) as the character should be. But, maybe I'm wrong on this and I just need to do a rewatch.
  11. This show is a home run. Critically acclaimed and popular with viewers. It was a hit with me and some of my friends who have never played the games. Male and female. I look forward to season 2.
