TangledThorns Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 Looks fun. Arnold's version is still great tho. You cold-blooded bastard! I'll tell you what I think of it! I *live* to see you eat that contract! But I hope you leave enough room for my fist, because I'm going to ram it into your stomach and break your goddamn spine! Quote

A few friends of mine would come over in rental nights and this was one of those that had a few perennials with some pizza and popcorn and a lot of laughter. Loved the goofy Arnold lines and the story was great for how much cheese was on and off screen. Good times and great memories. usually after the first friend ended up going home someone in the remaining people would always ask “what happened to ……” and we’d all respond in unison in our worst Arnold impressions “He had to split” Quote
Dynaman Posted July 2 Posted July 2 This might be closer to the original book but the trailer really doesn't catch my interest. And there is NO beating the combo of Arnold and Richard Dawson. And the lady saying Arnold was "one mean mother..." Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Yeah, this looks to be a proper adaptation of the book and not a remake of the Schwarzenegger movie. Quote

The og film definitely has an unbeatable cool factor with a hefty slice of premium cheese that probably won’t be beat. But I can’t think of a bad Edgar Wright movie, so I have a good feeling that even if it’s not as great that it will still be good Quote

azrael Posted July 2 Posted July 2 For you theater-goers. AMC now warns moviegoers to expect ‘25-30 minutes’ of ads and trailers Maybe it's a blessing-in-disguise that I have less time to go to theaters these days. Quote

It has a bit of a slow start and just keeps building and building as not only the odd stuff gets weirder, but Pegg's character gets more and more revealed as the absolute train wreck trapped in his teenage days that really only had one great day, but finally becomes something better by the very end of things. I really do love that movie. Quote

Gives time to get snacks and hit the restroom, just would hope for more trailers than basic ads. Quote

AMC theaters where I am had ads and trailers lasting that long before Covid. (not every film, but a few certainly did) Quote

TangledThorns Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 Yeah, just recalled I went through that experience with a AMC theater last year. Never again. Thankfully there is a good selection of movie theaters where I live. Quote
Thom Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I like Glen Powell - and also the Running Man, so I hope this turn out good. Quote

At least twenty minutes of commercials BEFORE the trailers even start. UGH!! Quote
TangledThorns Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 Speaking of retro films my wife and I thought it would be fun to watch the Final Destination film series on MAX. We stopped after we finished the first movie, lol. Quote

Big s Posted Sunday at 09:44 PM Posted Sunday at 09:44 PM We were checking out some lesser films available on Amazon yesterday and found Heads of State with John Cena and Idris Elba. It’s a very basic kinda idiotic predicable buddy action movie where Cena plays the U.S.president and Elba is the prime minister of the U.K.. The plot is easy to figure out and things explode way bigger than justified and you gotta really suspend disbelief, but if you can just switch off your brain, it’s a pretty fun one. Elba and Cena practically play their usual cookie cutter selves, but even though it’s a tired premise, they kinda play off each well enough for the movie to barely work. It ain’t winnin an award or even coming close to being a runner up for a nomination. Bassically, if you don’t have to pay to see it and you got some popcorn and can watch a movie with the intelligence levels turned down, it’s not a bad way to spend an afternoon or evening. Quote

I’ve played them all. I don’t know how many times I’ve just looped [RE4] again and again. I just love it. I’m definitely not trying to be completely obedient to the lore of the games,” the new Resident Evil movie director stated. i.e. I love the games, but... I'm pretty sure he could make a good, compelling story even when sticking to the plot of the games. Quote
