I think it's something more than that, possibly an issue with their website's calculations. For the ¥3,230 price of the 1/48 VF-1J/A to equal $26.10 USD, the exchange rate would have to be about ¥124 to the dollar. The yen hasn't been that strong in over three years. Not a big deal, regardless. I'm just happy that the prices ended up being lower than I expected.

One of my cousins is visiting Japan at the moment, but I doubt I can talk her into squeezing a few kits into her bags for me!

But I've expereinced the same with all my Amazon Japan orders of the last couple of years, sometimes even an increase to what it showed me initially.

Part of me wants to go crazy and buy 1 more 1/72 and 3 more 1/48. My more rational side says no way in hell, you'd never build all of them. Having 5 of the 1/48 sitting around would be kind of insane.

If it "helps" at all, HLJ has the 1/72 Black Aces discounted 50% to $12.87 USD for their summer sale. That's a crazy good price.

I’m glad I decided to have HLJ ship my models a few weeks ago, since they sent out a notice yesterday that they are halting shipments to the U.S. while they figure out how the new tariff process will work.

I requested the shipment via EMS on August 8, they shipped it on August 16 (it was actually accepted on August 18), and it arrived on August 25.

Of course, a number of other items have arrived since I requested the shipment, but HLJ says they will hold things indefinitely in the Private Warehouse until the tariff process is resolved.

I wish they had reached out to customers about the freeze happening before it was enacted so folks in the USA could clean out their private warehouse, but it is what it is. Shrug emoji. Lol

I don’t know if they really had time. They did give warnings the other week that things would be iffy and it was pretty much the other day when a few countries in the region announced that they would stop deliveries as a kind of protest or retaliation against the tariffs since the U.S. was dropping that de minimis exemption. These changes are sometimes coming in the fly and other times there’s a warning with a lot of speculation attached. I kinda think everyone was hoping for the exemptions to be extended rather than dropped.

Hlj is at least a hold your item kinda place, but I had an order I totally forgot about a hobby search that just came in stock. Not sure how that’s gonna go. It was only a $20 item and if not for shipping being stopped, it might’ve gotten that $80 fee tagged on top of shipping making a stupid little purchase something far more premium than it should be. I’ll probably have to email them regarding the situation

I'm guessing that the reasons why we aren't seeing figures of Kamjin for the Glaug or TOS Millia for this new Q-Rau is the result of the truce established between Big West and hissy-fit Harmony Gold. DYRL was proven in court to not belong to Harmony Gold's fraudulent claims to international licensing, so figures from the movie are fair game. I'm just guessing. I know the guy who helped broker the deal to between the two companies to help make Macross available internationally. The smoking gun is that he was following one court case and HG was passing off DYRL Valk designs as belonging to their TOS license, and that's how we finally claimed victory over HG. I should ask him if my hunch is correct.

No, I guess what they are going for is for when Hikaru and Misa were exploring Earth. Here is the product listing:

So Super parts = Minmay, bare-bones Valk = Misa. It says that it includes the Minmay figure so you can use it with the Super Ostrich. Here is a quick paste of the description in English, ran through Goolag Translate:

The kit is composed of parts that allow you to choose between the Gerwalk Fighter and the Gerwalk.
The prototypes for the three new plastic figures were created by Taro Mochikomi.
Ichijo Hikaru (in ship's uniform) and Hayase Misa (in undersuit)
can be placed in the cockpit.
As a bonus part, it comes with Lynn Minmay (rear seat seat, wearing a simple space suit, with or without helmet), which can be used with the separately sold VT-1 Super Ostrich.

Did it say they weren’t including Mirya in this version?

I did think it odd they left out Kamjin, but I don’t know if that’s really the reason since Plamax hasn’t had any problems and I don’t think hasegawa had any issues with the tv vf-1 kits

Hey, I just checked again and I take it back. I just saw a lack of a figure and didn't read it. However, it says specifically TV版ミリアフィギュア in the advertising graphic. D'oh! Additionally, in the product description it says:

ミリア・ファリーナのフィギュア原型は太郎もちこみ 氏が担当。/ The Millia Farina figure prototype was created by Taro Mochikomi.

In the graphic the Japanese says that it only features the upper half of Millia's body is included, but the kit we already got is like that anyway. I actually bought mine in July when a seller on Rakuten had it on a killer sale, with free shipping. I only paid something like 3800 yen with free shipping. I couldn't refuse!

So scratch out my theory that there may be some licensing clause which prevents them from doing non-DYRL stuff. So if that's the case, why did they recreate a great cockpit for the Glaug but no Kamjin figure? 

Has anyone made an STL file Kamjin for 3D printing?

Thanks for the update, I feel relieved now. Hopefully they do a full resin figure of her like they did the movie version.

As far as the Glaug, I really don’t know other than maybe the figure would look too small, but then why bother with a cockpit. Maybe by the time a tv Nousjadeul Ger happens, they’ll give him a chance

Yes, I saw that Minmay China dress figure too! Unless I'm mistaken, that's from Mikimoto's Macross manga which essentially took the story of the TV show and matched it with the visuals of the movie. "Macross the First" I think it's called. I have all the books in Japanese, but it'd be great if it could be published in English.

Very cool, I'm glad to see both of these new models. It's interesting how the VT-1 product description says, "The kit is composed of parts that allow you to choose between the Gerwalk Fighter and the Gerwalk." I assume that means it will include the arms tucked in for Fighter mode as shown in the product artwork or the arms extended out like normal Gerwalk mode (which I don't think was ever shown in the movie). It was always interesting to me how it was portrayed in the movie, that Hikaru only extended the legs when they landed and never fully transformed it into Gerwalk mode.

I don't know much about the Queadluun Rau appeared in the TV series and only really have the Macross Mecha Manual to reference. It doesn't appear to me that the standard Queadluun Rau has any detail differences vs. Millia's. Here's the "Standard Battle Colors" version from the Macross Mecha Manual. I'm considering ordering two kits so I can do one in this color scheme as a "wingman."

They’re the same other than color, although you may want to wait a bit and see if they do the standard color version with a slightly different pilot, but it would only be very slightly different if anything

Thanks, I’ll just order one kit for now. I may just do it in the standard colors regardless. I’ve never been a huge fan of the “hero” schemes because I like the generic and squadron schemes to represent regular pilots in the series. I’m guessing that if they offer the standard version, it will just have the blank faceplate like the movie version.

I’m onboard for the Queadlunn-Rau. The old IMAI kit was my very first model kit build and what got me into this hobby last year and I’m so excited to get a new “more accurate “ version in the mix.

I built one of the Bandai rereleases of that kit the first round a while back and still have fond memories of it. There appears to be more surface details on the old kit since it’s based more on the detailed art rather than the tv line art and show appearance. Although I kinda wish it had that extra surface detailyou can see the tv one is much smoother like the new kit, but most of the extra detail would just take a bit of thin plastic sheet. The added venting stuff would be a bit more difficult though

Very excited to see Hasegawa continue their build out of the kits...the TV Quead should be fantastic!
Such a strange offering for the VT-1 Gerwalk 'return to earth' mode from the movie, would never have guess that was in the queue.
And really looking forward to the Mercy Rabbit box art for these, should be epic.

We know the Nousjadeul-Ger has coming in 2026, where else are the going to go?
Maybe some new Zentradi ships? A 1/4000 matching Nupetiet-Vergnitzs would be my #1.
