Wow that looks great, love the stickers too.

Does that thing have a gigantic coffee-can exhaust?

Hard to tell the difference sometimes.  I mean, it is a Japanese sports sedan with a few body mods, big new spoiler, hood scoop, bright flashy gaudy paint, sponsor markings, etc.  ;)

Yes, but how many ricemobiles can do 120 on a gravel road and four wheel drift around hairpins at highspeed?

That's what I thought. :p

And that's not much of a body kit. It's more subtle than the WRX's stock bumper.

I did say a FEW body mods :p

And performance is irrelevant to its looks. Rally racers based on Japanese cars often look very similar to heavily riced-out Japanese cars. :) (Whereas you'll never see a modern street Pontiac that looks like a NASCAR Pontiac)

I mean, those "fake" Lamborghini's look awfully similar to the real ones, even if they do have a Fiero's chassis and suspension, and maybe a V-6...

And since Smokecreen is only a "shell" of a car (with seats and a dash), his external appearance is what matters. And he looks ricey, because ricers try to copy the real racers. :)

That's alot of thinking for me, man. :p

Racey may look ricey (that is the point after all) but what counts to me is performance.

Actually, I think it's ricey looks racey, not the other way around. ;)

Performance is always good, but for me, looks beat performance. (I'd rather have an 85-87 Countach above any other car in the world, even if by today's performance standards it's not spectacular, only good, and met by factory-fresh cars costing 1/7 as much) And I feel '97 Camaros are superior to all other years, looks-wise. :)

All WRC cars look like that, not just the Japanese ones. When you have sponsors paying you millions of dollars to drive around in the dirt, you gotta advertise. The reason you don't see NASCAR street-counterparts trying to be like they're racing brothers is because who want's to drive around with a giant VIAGRA logo or Carrot Top face on the hood of your car? C'mon, even Pontiac driver's have some taste...

*ducks*

Trying to clarify my point:

Yes, all rally cars have "that look". But only the ones made from Japanese cars often have "copies" (usually riceified) running around on the streets here. I mean, you don't usually see a steet Volkswagen looking like that, despite there being rally racing versions of them. Many many cars have racing versions. But only the JP Rally cars are copied, by ricers. :)

Oh... Okay, I get what you're saying. Thing is, I don't think riceboys copy the rally car look per se. The generic plastered with stickers look could attributed to almost any type of motorsport, and most people don't even knwo what teh hell rally is. With the riceboy crowd drag racing and drifting is popular, real motorsports like WRC and DTM aren't very very well known.

That' would be cool, just flip a toggle button and then grab the Virtual On sticks and start taking out the competition.

I guess you guys wouldn't like me trying to make a Focus Rally car then?

ok call me blind but other then the tires what were the mods you did exactly ?

As you mentioned. Plus a detailed engine bayand interior stuff. My steering wheel has the momo badge on it. I have a gauge decal so the gauges look more real. And I added a rear view mirror. Small time stuff.

We really could use a sequel to Sega Rally 2, especially with "Smokescreen" in it.  :)  Build awareness, etc.

Would he be fully transformable? Maybe a sort fo Sega Rally 2/Virtual On combo.

You can race the Impreza in the most excellent Rallisport Challenge on Xbox.

RalliSport Challenge 2 is coming in March 2004 with LIVE support. I will be racing my Impreza on there if there are any takers. ;)

Oh hey David Hingten,

I saw a guy with a ford focus hatchback rallied out. He copied the rally car decals mostly.

Oh dont forget about the Nascar Malibu chevy. It has the color scheme of nascar

I think you mean Monte Carlo, not Malibu. The Malibu's are 4-door only. Oh the things I've learned working at a Chevy dealership... <_<

No, I'm talking about the production NASCAR Monte Carlo, basically a Monte Carlo (SS maybe?) plastered with NASCAR stickers. Not the actual NASCAR racing cars.

And yeah, I know how they use non-production cars for NASCAR. I guess they forgot the part about them being stock cars, but then again they forgot the part about racing too (ovals suck).

Taurus, Intrepid, Grand Prix etc---they are physically/externally VERY different from the NASCAR versions. There's not a single piece of a NASCAR Grand Prix that will fit on a street Grand Prix. The NASCAR cars have only the overall external shape SIMILAR to the street versions. Rear-wheel drive manual V-8's and FWD automatic V-6's have completely different chassis, for starters... Putting stickers on a Monte Carlo means you've got the same colors, nothing more. The body is completely different. As is the chassis, and interior. And drivetrain. If you ever see a rally Vette, you at least know that underneath it all, it's still a Vette. Not the same with any NASCAR car. A '97 Camaro RS is much more mechanically similar to a '99 Grand Prix than a NASCAR Grand Prix is. (Wanna guess what I drive?) :)

As opposed to a Subaru Impreza, where you can actually make a rally version from a street version, etc. They're different in the details, not wholly different cars that somewhat look alike.
