Pretty happy with how quickly I got the base kit together! I think I can re-break down and process the parts individually. Focus now on blending the individual kit' styles together.

MS Mixing recipie:

Robot Damashi torso/arms/binders

Studio Reckless head/shoulder/skirts

HGUC backpack/verniers

RG Gp01 legs and feet

The base is Bandai's 'new' 1/100 kit base. To adapt to the damashii connection point I simply used on the the included hex/allen bit tools and glued the head to the bases's arm. I really like these cheap action bases. They look really clean and I see tons of used outside of Bandai. Should easily support a 1/72 valk and not too pricey either!

I’m a total noob on things Gundam but this is looking great!

Got to work on the IMAI 1/100 scale Glaug “iron type”

Going for a complete build instead of separating out parts based on colors. I’m also going to brush paint most if not all of it in its classic scheme. I never have done that before and think it’s a great opportunity for me to try. I was inspired by the hand painted Hasegawa version I saw on HJweb. Should be fun if not a complete failure. Lol 😂

If you're planning to paint that model in classic colors, I strongly recommend you strip the metallic finish off it before the attempt. L.A. Totally Awesome!! cleaner removes chrome safely and effectively; just let it soak overnight in it (available at your local Dollar Tree or dollar store).

Thanks for the tip. Am I not able to prime right over it?

I've tried that, and it never worked well for me. I think you'd be better off priming over clean plastic than a surface like that, as the paint has a much better chance of staying on the model!

Cool. I’ll try stripping it clean before moving forward.

Sounds good.Iif you have any concerns about the process, you can always test it on a piece of sprue from that kit first.

Definitely try it first on a sprue. But I remember the chrome coatings usually didn’t do well trying to get paint to stick. I don’t know for sure on this iron coating or if Lacquer primer just sticks, but testing on a sprue is usually a safe test and it will show if you do need to do a strip on the parts

Right; that's why I suggested stripping it, and why I also suggested testing the stripping on sprue. I'd truly be upset with myself if something I recommended ruined a project on someone else! :(

@Big s @pengbuzz thanks. I’ll report back once I track down that LA cleaner. I did some research online and people also use this stuff called purple power? Any experience with that stuff?
