Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 If Yamato were to offer the 1/48 VF-1 in unpainted, kit form, much like their upcoming V2 1/60 VF-1 in kit form, would you buy it? The 1/48 was the base for many custom VF-1's during the last 8 years. At one point, there was demand for such a thing, but it never reached fruition. Considering that the lack of paint reduces cost, and labor is reduced for something made in kit form, the release might be cheaper(albeit not drastically) than the regular, painted, pre-made release. Even now, some of the best customs known throughout the fandom, were made with the 1/48 VF-1. Thoughts?
Agent-GHQ Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hells no! The 1/48 is pretty much done... Unless, its the exactness of the 1/60 v2 in 1/48.
VFTF1 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Yamato's going to offer the 1/60 version 2.0 as a kit? I knew about the unpainted version - but it's going to be a kit that you put together yourself? Didn't know about this? Guess it makes sense if you want to paint the parts accurately in line with whatever scheme you can think of.... Pete

bluemax151 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I voted no because I honestly wouldn't buy it myself. I don't think it's a bad idea though, I just don't like the 1/48 scale/mold. Various heads are an obvious yes because I know I'd want them on my 1/60 kit.
gwfalcon Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I will buy at least 3-4 if they really release it. 1/48 to me will be never dead, ever.
OmegaD3k Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Agreed, 1/48 is no more. Let it rest. Most of the valks are now in 1/60 scale. How many valks are in 1/48, aside from the Yammie one? The Hase YF-19 model kit, plus another [was it the YF-21?] - that's about it, from what I can recall. For me, I rather have a consistent scale for my collection of valks. Only if there were more valks made in 1/48 scale, and the proportions were retooled to resemble [or be better than] the 1/60 V.2, then I might consider getting one of these kits. :3 So, nope!
ruskiiVFaussie Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I would, but only for the fact i get to make one from scratch, a novelty if you will. I still need to get one of the v.2's yet, and probably get a couple eventually. I want kits of the 11B, or imagine a YF-21, woooooooooooooo.
EXO Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 With the arrival of my TV Kakizaki, my 1/48 collection is complete, unless they made 2 seaters. Maybe if they made the blank ones more of a low viz light gray version... I'd be tempted.
Ignacio Ocamica Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 The current 1/48 no, if it's the 1/60 v2 sculpt upscaled to 1/48 then yes
Vi-RS Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I don't think Yamato is gonna do 1/48 V2, if they do I still won't buy them. I am a scale person and I want all my collection in the same scale with destroids, fan racer, Q-Rau.... etc

Fatalist Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Only if they fix the molds. The last couple of 1/48's that I've bought have been all kinds of loose and plagued with stupidity. The ones that I bought when the molds were "fresh", years and years ago were not like this.
miriya Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 1/48 is a great scale for many reasons and I love the yamato 1/48s. I would buy these, yes.
thankheaven Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 1/48 or 1/60 atleast with a self built Yammie if it breaks you got no one to blame but yourself
ff95gj Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 While generally I would like things in the scale, 1/48 VF-1 is an exception to me because VF-1 are small by design. I love to put my 1/48 VF-1S and 1/60 VF-0S together. It just doesn't have the "brotherhood" feeling for the 1/60 VF-1S and VF-0S.
