Added a few more 3.75” figures and the big red painted beast on the bottom row:

It’s a bit of an extreme angle because the of shelf dimensions and because I wanted to add the blue versions in there too.  But it’s been holding in place:

Unexpectedly, also decided to add the remainder of the Original 13 Joes to the display:

These look great!

Great Spider-poses!  👍

I've been busy this week making space to display larger projects... which requires great imagination (and a little engineering) when it comes to densely-packed rooms like this one:

before.jpg.cb6bc4c9f645f0e053171ab6c2f1a728.jpg

I finally realized how I could increase my display space considerably... 🤔

...and a week later, I've gained another 30 cubic feet. 😁

What are you planning to add in that space, and are you planning to light that and the floor immediately below it?

So, I wound up getting a couple more GI Joe figures:  Jinx and Blowtorch (in subdued olive and khaki colors).

“Now my failure is complete!” :p (Or I’ve pretty much ran out of display space for this shelf):

@Mog Nice collection! But I clearly see some space near the very edge there. Plenty more room!

😅

Kinda like having the original LRRP crew (Stalker, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow) and the two main leaders (Duke and Hawk) out in front.

There is that little space in front, but it’s getting tricky to fit figures in there without blocking the figures behind them.

I guess I could add Wet-Suit for another Navy character.  But I don’t feel like plopping extra funds for a custom. . . Yet.

I use acrylic nesting shelves I found on Amazon to elevate my homies in the back. Here's where I shifted around to fit Daitarn 3. Moved my mini Dairugger, Daltanias, and Combattler down with them, too so they could join the era family better. I think I can move Dai Apollon down if I slide Daitarn's accessories back and left. The minis are super convenient and cool - they offer all the transforming and combining gimmicks while taking up so little room.

You have such unique displays, thematically consistent yet totally irrespective of aesthetics or scale.  Fascinating!

Me, I just can't bring myself to display realistic figures with anime characters, much less figures that aren't perfectly to scale with each other... 😅

I have to say, though, that Phicen body is a very poor match for Slave Leia.  It's the wrong size, the wrong skin tone, and the wrong build for 25 year-old Carrie Fisher. 🤨

We have broken every rule in these photos. Figures hiding other figures, figures that are too low to be observed, different movie figures mixed together, different themes that overlap with each other, you have bought too much of this and not enough of that. It's all sorts of wrong! 😄

Collecting expectations and comparisons:

I can get 10 Hot Wheels cars to your 1 Marvel Legends figure. Correct!

I can get 10 Marvel Legends figures to your 1 Hot Toys figure. Correct!

I can get 10 Hot Toys figures to your 1, 1/3 scale statue. Correct!

Keeping a variety of toys within a theme is the key for a better display. I believe in displaying "retro" toys with newer toys. There is no problem in displaying 1/12 scale figures with 1/6 scale and 1/4 scale figures or any other scale.  You can display figures, collectibles and statues together in a shared theme. *shock* You may even find the need to put a few of your favourite anime figures along side non-anime figures in your collection if it suits your collecting space needs.

I have never cared to have a "studio or museum" grade collection. I am pretty happy with the set up for my collection.

It's just like displaying 1/48, 1/55, 1/60, 1/72 and 1/100 scale valks together. The thing is that they all work well together within a cohesive collection as long as you group them together to be consistent. Unless you are working off a diorama display, all of these toys will fit in together just fine.

The high end 1/6 scale figures (Hot Toys & Sideshow) are a evolution of collecting the Star Wars 12" figures, Action Man, The Six Million Dollar Man etc.

I don't believe in collecting complete toy lines where you have to acquire lesser desired figures mixed with good ones just to have them all.

"that Phicen body is a very poor match for Slave Leia."

That might be so, but that is what was offered when I got the figure parts including the Phicen body to complete Slave Leia. I think Leia's head is slightly smaller than it should be.  There are better Phicen bodies as well as other body types I could use to correctly display her. I just have not bothered to acquire them yet. A thing to do in the future.

Cheers!

Touché, my friend.  Guilty on all counts. 😅

Space constraints force me to squeeze displays of wildly different scales and themes right up next to each other.  It's a chaotic mess of pop culture. 🫣

IMG_5169.jpg.b38825f7d47d5dd5266278106504c2a0.jpg

Heck, even when I manage to be consistent in scale and theme, my displays end up defeating each other...

IMG_5167.jpg.4e893a2daeca204515837750e07fb281.jpg

For instance, my Slave Leia (one of the most valuable TVC figures in the collection!) is almost completely obscured by Jabba's sail barge. 🤕

I greatly admire that pragmatism.  I'm so sick-and-tired of buying the same characters over and over again because of slight improvements in sculpt or scale accuracy (or simply to acquire lesser-desired figures bundled together), but I'm a compulsive completist when it comes to Macross, Star Wars, Alien, RoboCop, Gremlins, Star Trek, Transformers... 😓

It comes down to think out side the box on how to best put your collectibles on display so you can enjoy seeing them. You have a great variety of collectibles which is always good to see. Knowing that you can walk around your collection and point out individual items that have similar themes and represents your core values is a win.

It's knowing that you have to put your Slave Leia figure next to Jabba's Sail Barge is the thing that counts.

I think of it like guys and their cars... I struggle to understand the "hellflush" or whatever that is where the wheels are at an angle and whatnot... Or the diesel "coal rollers."

But! I know they love their rides in their own way and while I don't understand all of it. I can understand that love.

We have so many spectacular collections, rare one of a kind pieces, and passion that, you know... Who needs rules... or like Doc said - roads?

We've gone above and beyond! So keep doing what you're doing you magnificent basteds.

WOW! It's like you took a corner of a toy store and just plopped it ight into your home! Jelly!

As to Slave Leia, being eclipsed by Jabba's barge seems fitting...

Just a couple of little knick-knacks to mess around with at my work desk:

The Defiant is an old Hallmark Christmas ornament that no longer lights up.  Brought it out for the holiday season and figured to just keep her out on display all year long.
