I cannot find the link right now, but once I do I'll post it. In the meantime, here's his alternative take on the VF-1. It's modest, but clever. Enjoy! Also looks like he has lasers pointed in both direction, with the head and shoulder serving to hold 4 laser cannons. Discarding the backpack seems like a great idea too! Gaiking, Mospeada, Bryger, Baxinger, Metaljack, Kamen Rider, Megaranger, Gaogaigar, D-Garn, Dangaioh, Bubblegum Crisis, Tobikage, etc etc etc... The list goes on and on. I always thought that the magically-appearing cockpit cover was much more of a "magical" element than the VF-1's notorious hip rearrangement. I tell ya, this guy is clever! That's already pretty iffy with most VF-1s... Now look at the VF-1D and tell me how that big heat shield cover can come out from under that chest cover. Especially considering how "chopped" the central part of it is. Anyway, Im not actually here to nitpick about my beloved VF-1. I just was making a point about the cleverness of this guy's alternative design. I understood the heat shield cover was found under the back plate and deployed during transformation. Knight26 Posted November 15, 2006 Share Posted November 15, 2006 Actually somebody, I forget whoe figured out how to do it on a VF-1D using Cap'n A's mod kit, so it can physically be done. All he's done is incorporate some features form SK's subsequent VF's and combined them all into one simple-looking hodgepodge: He's got the shoulder from the VF-9, the top of the intake/chestplate integration comes from the VF-3000. I like how the side covers on the torso don't just magically appear, since they're the missile pods. Not that having explosive ordinance that close to the pilot really seems like a good idea. I'm still looking for the link to the guy's site, but I can tell you that all his other re-engineered transformable mecha also look squat. It's just his style. BTW, attached is another of his re-engineered designs: the "Mospeada" (or "Cyclone", if you like roboatech) Ride Armor. Again, it's rather squat. But also very clever! As for it being "squat"... i think that's just the artists idea of proportions. You should really be weighing it on its mechanical merits, because thats what he's clearly trying to improve on. Look at it in GERWALK mode, the artist clearly has a concept in mind: The body of the VF (chestplate, nacelles/legs, backplate) move forward in GERWALK. Your VFX-1, -2, and -3 are schweetness! You ever plan on inking up those beauties? Oh, here's another VF-like design from another Japanse fan.
