Even with the flop of all the other mediums (toys, anime, clothing etc) the games still thrive with the next one being one of the most anticiptaed fighting games ever. They seemed to try hard to somewhat match everyone to their game counter part except that. You mean to tell me you couldn't find a Brazilian or dark skinned actress that doesn't know Capoeira? Some how I doubt that. I normally don't really bother with these issues, but everyone else seems pretty accurate for the most part and that just annoys me they got lazy there. Lowdown Oh. My. God. I have just seen an awesome film. It is the absolute best film ever made. We all know that these live-action film adaptations stop at nothing to deface our favorite video games. But in the case of Tekken, it's different. If you're a fan of the first three games, go grab your pitchforks. This film practically takes the most-established fighters - such as Marshall Law, Yoshimitsu and the Williams sisters - and turns them into complete jobbers. And since I retired after Tekken 3, I don't know characters like Christie Monteiro, Steve Fox (not that he fought at all), Miguel Caballero Rojo or Sergei Dragunov - all of which have more screen time than they deserve. Also, major game subplots such as the Devil Gene are thrown out the window. One result of this change is Kazuya turning from a vengeance-ridden fighter into Heihachi's henchman. Lame. Perhaps the film's biggest crime is the complete mutilation of Heihachi Mishima's character. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa looks horrible. Whoever did his hair and makeup should be drawn and quartered. Even worse is that he doesn't even last through half of the movie. But what about the fight scenes? They're actually very watchable, compared to other fighting game adaptations. The only drawback is the rather cheesy approach - the arena supposedly generates pseudo-holograms of stages based on the games. Overall, while it's better than the Street Fighter films, Double Dragon, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and DOA: Dead or Alive, it still is an abomination to the video game industry. At least it will make you forget about the lousy anime adaptation from over a decade ago.
