Did some late Christmas shopping at Walmart today. Those Lego Avatar sets were on a steep discount and I couldn't resist another submarine. What was surprising is seeing the new Lego City Space sets out in the wild. They had the the Interstellar Ship(which honestly looks like a reject from the Buzz Lightyear line) and the Construction mech in addition to the Dreamzzz and Friends crossover kits. As far as I know these aren't supposed to hit store shelves for at least another couple of weeks.

He's lucky it was a later model. The early F-104's had a downward firing ejector seat through the floor of the cockpit. Using that would have made him a human lawn dart. -

The only time the Federation could even come close to being accused of a war crime in the One Year War is at Side 5 during the Battle of Loum. That was when the Zeon Fleet tried to hijack another colony to drop and then proceeded to use the colonies as cover for the ensuing battle untill their mobile suits showed up. This resulted in several colonies being destroyed in the crossfire.- 3796 replies

I find myself saying that a lot with licensed sets. For 10 dollars more I could get an entire police station/prison with a helicopter, two boats, and seven minifigs.

The date this series takes place is November 6th 0079 and the setting is the European front. That puts this series timeframe at roughly the same time and place as the Federation's Operation Odessa, the big counter offensive to retake Zeon's main resource gathering sites. It's 11 months after the START of the One Year War, not the end.- 3796 replies

Godzilla Minus One - November 3rd 2023
renegadeleader1 replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Went back for a second viewing this time in IMAX, and I have to say this film still holds up even on repeat viewings. This film really is that good! About the only complaint I have is... That should tell you how great this movie is if that's all I can find fault with it. One other think of note that the history geek in me noticed is this film does something I've rarely seen in Japanese cinema and that's... -
Welp.... There goes $1500. 😂

Wow! Just Wow! This was definitely worth the praise it's been getting. I highly recommend it! There's a lot I need to digest before I feel I can properly give my full detailed thoughts. This is definitely up there among the best films in the franchise, I'd even argue beating out the original 1954 film in some regards. It definitely stands above Shin Godzilla and I hold that one in high regard. This is a must watch in theaters! -

Getting ready to see this now. I'll let you guys know my thoughts afterwards. -
Not leading with a Dark Angels or Blood Angels terminator is a bit of a mistake given how Space Hulk made that armor almost synonymous with those chapters.

Here's the thing, Napoleon's "exaggerated accounts" are still far more accurate to what happened than 95% of what Ridley Scott filmed and chose to show us. Look, I get taking artistic license in an effort to better tell a story, but when the story you are trying to tell is utter dog crap, and the real history behind is so much more compelling and far more interesting, you deserve to be called out for your B.S. Especially when accredited historians at universities and the historical advisors that have spent their lives studying this period of history are told to "Shut up! You weren't there, how would you know?" by Ridley Scott himself. Like historical records, personal accounts, letters, and soldiers diaries don't still exist from that period. No, this garbage deserves the hate it's getting from historical circles. One can only hope Steven Spielberg's work to complete Stanley Kubrick's unfinished Napoleon epic as a miniseries will do the era some justice.- 1604 replies

UPS guy dropped off my package from Lego from their Insider sale, and well... Not a single thing is intact outside of the mini bag of picka brick parts. What hurts the most is the Majistos workshop gift with purchase is mangled and I just can't get another one, as it officially sold out today.

Swede Vejtasa: I wanna be a fighter pilot! US Navy: No. You are a bomber pilot. *Swede proceeds to shoot down three enemy aircraft in a day in an SBD Dauntless at Coral Sea. US Navy: Um... So you wanted to be a fighter pilot you say? How does a transfer sound? *Swede proceeds to down seven more enemy aircraft in a day at Santa Cruz. -

So I watched Ridley Scott's Napoleon, and well.... You ever watch a movie that is so bad, it starts to become so unintentionally funny you start to wonder if it was done on purpose? Yeah that's this film. The pacing and focus is all over the place to the point if you don't have a keen interest in the Napoleonic era you will have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on. Joaquin Phoenix is miscast badly being way too old and terrible in this. He spends most of the film with a look on his face that resembles the slight discomfort of having a broomstick broken off up his ass and no way to get it out... When he's not making the "O" face spending a surprising amount of time balls deep in Josephine doggy style trying to produce an heir. As for historical accuracy there really isn't much. Outside of the most broadest summary of people and places this movie showcases, liberties have been taken with damn near everything. Not in "we need to rework things for pacing issues or time constraints," but more in a "We have no idea what the hell we are doing!" sort of way.- 1604 replies

Zombie troopers sucked when they were originally introduced in the EU, they sucked when Disney brought them back for books and comics, and they again suck now in live action. I hate how they are just a lame pop culture trend staple gunned onto the Star Wars universe because "OMG! Zombies!" Were all the rage a while back. I also don't like how they and the Night Sisters are being used to undercut Thrawn's character just because Filoni has a hard on for them. What made Thrawn such an imposing threat in the original novels was in a in a universe of force users and supernatural powers he used his intellect and tactics to out think and out maneuver his opponents. Now? He's just fourth banana to three Macbeth witch rejects with a goofy zombie army at his command and a dork in a leper death mask as a sidekick.

Is it bad I want to buy the Himeji Castle just so I can build it and put Godzilla and Kong figures on opposite sides of it?
