  1. I don't own a VF-25, but on the Animate store in Monkok I noticed the one they have on display has yellowed pretty badly through the months (years?). Their display cabinet is definitely out of the reach of sunlight, but under the UV of fluorescent lights, so that may be the cause. Nevertheless, other white toys also displayed there don't seem to be as badly discoulored.

    new model

I think I posted that link to the step by step, amazing build gunpla style. The builder didn't paint the whole model, but mostly gundam pens with an amazing attention to details.
  3. after being in Tokyo and browsing through the shelves of anime shops, I just think it's very implausible to see a business-suited Grace standing side by side those girl figures on the shelves, at least not without showing breasts, covered in goo, etc. So a flightsuit version is less implausible and probably more appealing to the target market w/o the need of goo, bra or panties. Honestly, Cathy is not important enough, not compared to Grace anyway, and at least she got her own decals for the 1/72 model but Grace has got nothing.
  4. M&M knife fight was (together with the Exedol "my boyfriend is a pilot" number) one of the most awesome SDFM moments. Plus was mostly ok in my memory, M7...a long series I learned to like in a particular way, Zero...hmmm... I'll have to say probably Frontier was the series with the most "OH C'mon!" moments.
  5. I could buy it if: 1) it was designed and built like the DX VF-27 toy OR better. 2) it came with a mod pack in the box, so the owner can just snap parts on and off and turn it into a NORMAL VF-25... Judging by the images of the prototypes it looks much like how a good VF-25 toy should have been in the first place, only with the wrong wings and a few cosmetic changes.
  6. most definitely! As I said before, the "Tornado" pack was IMO a measure to improve the looks of the DX toy and not the "real" VF-25, which as David said, looks very good by itself. I was going to say that! If the VF-27 is inspired by the SR-71 (at least around the wings), then the YF-29 seems like a VF-27 with SU-47 wings.
  7. the bigger image reveals how VF-27ish this "new" valk looks like.
  8. Talking of the green VF-27, hunted for it all over Tokyo last week when I was there. Mandarake had it listed at two locations for 16K Yen, but neither really had it in stock. Guess since it's not much better in the tightness department, I wasn't missing much more than that Super Fold Booster add-on compared to the Purple one I already own.
  9. I realized I edited my last sentence poorly. By design lock I mean anything from Macross Frontier seem to be built around the same basic concept, maybe to help simplify toy manufacturing. Bandai totally wasted the commonality with the separate DX toolings for the 25 and the 27. In other words, I am afraid Kawamori is either out of new ideas or trapped in Bandai-jail. I hope it is the latter.
  10. IMO the Tornado pack was only designed to cover up the ugliness of the DX toy (and milk the mold for profit) instead of helping make the "real" VF-25 look any better. I am not sure what's the whole idea behind this new design but it looks like it was "locked" for some sort of practical reason, probably some Bandai requirement?
  11. I am not sure if we should assume they'll make the repaints and variants just because they have a tooling they can work with...the driving force will and always was sales and profitability, gosh, there is more than one toy I wanted and even saw a preproduction photo of, only to turn into vaporware!
  12.   too late for me...I've seen the comparisons side by side and now I know the difference! I hate this thread! Not that I was going to pay that much for the SDF-1 anyway (hides)
  13. Just like Ignacio and I suspect a few others, the Mac Donald's Valk is not really my favorite, neither is Mac 7 overall, but this toy is coming together ridiculously cool and I think I am now fully convinced! Hope it's not going to have some evil weakness embedded! (crossing my fingers). (OT alert) If Yamato can pull off such a cool toy so many years after the show was over, I can only dream what VF-25 , VF-27 or VF-171 they can make in the distant future. (/OT alert)
  14. I suspect there is some kind of laziness involved
  15. my reaction to the re-releases was a very big WTF, then a sigh...

    Want to get a VF-25

I can only keep congratulating myself for skipping all the DX VF-25 toys, but cannot do so for leaving the plamo kits stored in their boxes. I also give myself a pat in the back for getting the DX VF-27 toy and NOT the model kit...but now I have Frontier valks in 2 different scales! The pilots look small? Whenever I look at the 25 or 27, I get the impression it should actually be larger than the canon stats (quite accurately followed by models and toys). My 1/60 VF-27 looks quite at home with my 1/72 modern jets collection...the 1/72 does look a bit smallish, especially when comparing cockpits.
  17. kind of sad to see Klan wearing the G's armor, that means Michel just got killed you know!
  18. I am perv, but that statement amuses me.
  19. Seeing your pictures with the Superpack makes me wonder how it looks like compared to the 1/72 VF-25G model
  20. That builder in Japan has consistently delivered quality builds, that does not mean a common mortal like myself can ever achieve that level of precision. Thanks for the link!
  21. I thought Aya Endo also is long-haired? let me watch the video again...
