  1. I did search for as many sequences showing the landing gear, and honestly, I don't think it ever showed up at the front of the bay doors...it simply doesn't look right. I also think it is due to some structural reason Bandai could not overcome, or maybe Kawamori-san isn't very clear on this kind of small details?! Maybe by moving the nose gear to the far front called for that extra support under the head. Will go searching for this kit downtown now, hopefully we already got them here in Hong Kong!
  2. well, just to throw some of that skepticism (negative energy?) back in the thread, I am still very troubled by the location of the nose gear, sometimes it appears in the right spot (aligned with the windshield), sometimes it shows waaaay too far forward. then, the model still sucks in fighter mode, because it cannot stay together without additional support supplied in the kit (problem can be noticed in the rear shot of the gerwalk mode, where the forward fuselage is drooping down. ...that being said, just like graham, I also have to get my vf-25 fix and can't wait for the DX version... looking at the non-transformable 1/100 Zaku II V2.0 Char Custom (the one that can superpose and even kneel down), I am confident the set is going to be at least decent and the build nice enough to go with the rest of the ever increasing mecha collection. (When are we going to get a Klan Klan Queadluun Rea from Bandai?? snap fit, glossy red, no transformation=no seams...just imagine that beauty!!!)
  3. I so need Queadluuns...all types and variants please (KLAN)!!!! other Zentradi mecha welcome too.
  4. Pardom my ignorance then...I thought the Japanese audience still sticks to their adoration of uber-cute characters... Still, this does not change my theory that Ranka has higher chances of surviving than Sheryl. I actually care more about the Leon/Grace/SMS political intrigue. Obviously (and just like the Ranka-Brera relationship), there is sth obvious about the Vajra not being real enemies of Frontier. Still, 3 episodes seems an awful short time to wrap things up.
  5. As someone before already pointed out, Ranka IS (from all angles and sides) THE main girl, although the English-speaking audience prefers the voluptuous Sheryl far better. Also, Mao Nome did not die nor fly away...it was the sexy elder sister Sara! As someone pointed out earlier, the Japanese like it this way. The Ranka/Mao link was established in ep 10 anyway, but Sheryl is also a NOME...so I could be wrong. Maybe Alto Hime deserves no girl at the end, and both part (die, leave, ??) because he's been a complete arsehole only 3 more episodes to go?
  6. In my opinion Yes and No, because as I said, the end product will depend greatly on the builder's skills and experience, but then the phographed finished samples (production or prototype) are almost always WITH that support, meaning it should not be an isolated case (and no, it's not the same built, because some have painted landing gear and some have tinted cockpit glass...). I am still looking forward to the final product and still may get at least one.
  7. Although I do think there is a bit of a symetry problem with the sample on display, and I don't think it's a camera angle problem, that could probably be an assembly issue and the final result will greatly depend on the builder's skills. What concerns me is the fact that the model does not seem to hold very tightly, so the transformation may turn out to be less attractive. I am surprised nobody noticed the model's nose gear is right below the SMS logo, while in the CGI, the nose gear is placed under the windshield, considerably further aft.
  8. Although not the best angle, this is a screenshot from episode 14. I really think the nose gear is a bit further back in the CG model (inline with the cockpit windshield at least). Does anybody have a side picture with gears deployed? I just realized the latest episodes tend to cover the undercarriage out of frame for some reason, but I remember seeing images of the VF-25's nose gear being placed not as prominently forward as in the bandai model. Also, the little supporting plastic under the gunpod/near the head is consistently showing up in almost every picture of the model in fighter mode...makes me wonder if there is a inherent weakness at that point making the extra support necessary (this would also link back to the problem of left/right symmetry). I only built a couple of gundam models, and they don't even transform, but the quality of plastic and polycaps/jpoints is of utmost importance if we want sth that can handle at least a couple of transformation cycles: decals ARE a very very bad idea, but have no idea if transfer-stickers would be more durable or not. Even enamel paint chips off (remember the 1/60 VF-1s V1 and the lousy legs??)
  9. Well, I got this problem from day 1 and now looking at everyone's concern for the skull printing, I realized many of you also had the taifin rubbing against the dorsal antenna too. The old 1/60 valk did not have this problem, there was quite a gap between the folded backpack and the protruding antennas. I got the bare VF-1S and bought the strike parts separately, then found out about the tailfin rubbing against the back, also paid more than if I had got the set pack (it was sold out), and to make matters worse, I made a mistake with the skull sticker on the strike part and now need a new black skull sticker (even though I am not sure I will be using the strike parts that much)...even considered purchasing a whole new set, but then realized I really only need a black skull sticker...maybe the Hikaru TV version may be the answer since it has a white tailfin anyway?
  10. Doesn't anyone else feel the nosegear strut is placed too forward???
  11. I'd actually like to have her Queadluun Rea with a posable pilot figure...nothing less, nothing more! (It was a bad idea to have a Millia figure inside the Queadluun Rau in such an ugly position). This cute micronized Klan (sorry guys) looks a bit too generic, look at the picture with screecaps behind, the shape of the eyes have a certain spirit to it (which makes Klan who she is), but the sculpt is completely missing that point and just looks like a happy lolita. After watching episodes 20 and 21 I think she deserves more screen time! and at least a mecha!!
  12. And old guys who grew up watching Macross try to step away from the obvious innuendoes of Macross Frontier? I am not sure if I got the facts right but does Macross Frontier broadcasts at 1:00 am in Japan, meaning it is not meant for kids anyway, who are more interested in live action porn than suggestive manga/anime? Anyway, isn't Japanese anime in general quite heavily chargedwith sexual overtones anyway? Oh, I am with the people who voted for the locker scene. Besides that, Klan Klan is probably the character who's mecha I'd like to see in toyform the most!! Better with an accurate figure piloting it!

    Macross Revoltech

Hi, new around...but been a fan of macross since childhood and can't believe 25 years have passed without a nice and affordable regult toy like revoltech's. Maybe not too far from now we'll be seeing a Queadlunn Rau (Movie or TV version)? Other variants of the Regult and the Officer pod are most welcome: it's not because I already have an army of valks, various scales, but I've always had a thing for the bad guys armors. If there MUST be more good guys toys, what about a Gerwalk version of the valks instead of more battroids? PRiority on the enemy stuff pleaaaaaaaaase!!! Not that I am holding my breath for a 1/60 Yamato Regult, but why didn't they milk their Q-rau mold a bit more and produced a TV version? I know some changes needed to be made for it to be accurate, but still...
  14. Hi all, I am new here, but have been a fan of Macross since I was a kid back in the 80s. I am also an aviation fan (collector of diecast models, commercial and military aircraft and avid FS pilot), this is probably the most impressive 3D render of anything I've come across with, and some flyable models in FS9 and FSX have been quite impressive. Just wanted to point out, from a naval aviation perspective, that instead of "beware intake" it usually says "danger jet intake". Near the exhausts, it does say "beware of blast". This is a transformable mecha, so there is no "up and down" in the conventional sense, but "no step" would usually go on the "upper" surfaces that maintenance personnel would inadvertently step on and damage, so a gear door is usually not the place for "no step", although flaps and other movable "vertical" surfaces do sometimes carry a "no push" placard. As for numbering, if 210 is the number of the plane, then it should say 210 on the wing too (and according to 70's navy practice on Tomcats, the number goes on the flaps' white area, but according to Macross, it goes in the middle of the right wing, the author can totally take the liberty to detail this amazing model as it aesthetically pleases him most! I am looking forward to the Macross city!
