  1. Wow. I didn't realize that when Alto was flying... he was trying hard not just for Ranka, but was trying hard for Sheryl. And of course... it all got misunderstood. LOL. TOo clever, Kawamori. You're pissing me off in a good way XD ... I'm totally amused by the reference to fIsherman's wharf in San Francisco. Yay walruses.
  2. aww, I love how her hair moves. It's really "living" and dynamic.
  3. Please spoil me to all Alto/Sheryl interactions. I'm sitting at work and all streams/ downloads are blocked. I want to know.... *shakes you*
  4. Woo. I'm now back fully online and can post stuff. Here's a bit of a doodle after watching the last episode of Frontier
  5. Unfortunately economics and anime dictates a lot of shows these days end as early as they can to sell product. What sort of worries me about the possibility of a S2... or "continuation" after a short break off in teh fall season to retool for a winter season/spring season reentry... is that we've seen so little of the product development that one saw with more popular "reentry" shows like the last few Gundam shows. IT's not enough to sell model kits these days to keep shows going (at least from what I've observed of various Sunrise productions). Usually you want to see a lot of interest for gashapon and the more "disposable" purchase market (e.g., capsule gashopan, posters, shijitaki, keychains, etc.) I have seen very little show up or announced... and that worries me. (Gonzo was horribly deficient in this arena, and look where they are now... imminent trouble for their studio at this point.) On the other hand, the music sales have been very promising, so maybe just maybe the sponsors can push for another 13 episodes next year if the music sales have been very good as well as DVD sales.
  6. Regarding Alto's brother ... his being right where Sheryl was is a bit too coincidental for my tastes unless he has a> a homing beacon on his adoptive brother's general whereabouts or b> is also mysteriously tied to events related to Galaxy/117. Bah.
  7. wow, that's a really beautiful image there. *runs off to look for spoilers*
  8. d'aww. I really like that drawing. Where did you dig it up?
  9. My guess is Alto's mysterious mother figures into the conspiracy somehow... would be rather funny if Alto is the true Nome in all this...
  10. Yes. And Brera is another one who inexplicably knows where Ranka is and what her feelings /predicaments have to be. I do think this idea has some merit...
  11. Ahhh. Aside from the Macross references, there's a funny reference to Gundam SEED season 1. When Ozma intercepts the attack on the Quarter by placing himself in between... Needless to say, i was amused. It was a clever poke at Gundam SEED and their inability to keep characters dead.
  12. Wow, the cosplay at SDCC is pretty impressive compared to what I saw at AX this year. So far, liked the Streetfighter statuettes the best so far although I think the Squaresoft FF unpainted ones are pretty sweet. not so keen on the SW figures, particularly the ones that have been cartoonized. It's kind of like they've run out of things to do and are now just stylizing everything for the heck of it. Bleach figures = meh, those are the same ones that have been out in japan for ages. I want some new sculps ... Thanks for posting these! I've always wanted to go to SDCC but usually choose AX over SDCC as I `can't make that many back to back trips to the West Coast in one year
  13. watching 16 with the subs and watching Sheryl (watching Ranka) makes me think that the reason for two songstresses may be that neither is completely wholly able to function on their own at this point. Ranka is emotionally scarred due to her past history and Sheryl healthwise seems to be a bit uncertain. I guess I'm going to speculate that at some point we'll see both of them in battle singing together for those reasons and possibly because waves do better when they resonate. Their amplitude increases when in synchrony...
  14. I'm not sure genga should go for that much. It's fairly unusual to see them priced that high, particularly since they're not the finished cel but the underlying work for it. As for the sketch wow... I'll be interested to see if people bite. that's really not a fully rendered drawing...
  15. I watched the first two last night. Very short but cute. How many are there currently out there?
  16. I was sort of thinking that it's not just about taking over the resources/assimilating Frontier to prop up Galaxy, but to also wipe out the symbolic existence of Frontier. The dynamics on Galaxy are really almost a completely different type of world, and you have the predominant "race or entity" taking on very aggressive tactics, whereas Frontier seems to be a more peaceful coexistence. And it is rather compelling to me to consider that each colony has its own governmental system. I don't know enough about the world construct at this time in Macross history, but we know that Frontier is likely some kind of democracy or assume so because we've seen President Glass enough times to get the feeling about his style of governance. Unless I missed something, we know nothing about the way Galaxy works. It would be pretty interesting if Galaxy were run pretty much as a controlled, almost oligarchical environment. We have only the slightest of hints that things weren't so great on Galaxy from Sheryl's comments, which we have not seen explored. Perhaps Galaxy is a really bleak place... Maybe someone did say this before. This is more like a Cold War where one party has no idea that war is being engaged? ... Another note on the episode and watchign Sheryl and her reaction to the news that Alto had heard both Ranka and Sheryl singing... she didn't look as surprised, and so it brings into question how much she knows about her earrings!
  17. Apart from the immediate conspiracy at hand with respect to the Fairy and the Q... Bilra vs. Grace... I don't know if I understood the first half dialogue correctly. Galaxy was interested in Frontier because of it was clearly different in the AI/cyborg type restrictions, was following the same trajectory towards the middle of the galaxy. It almost seems like there's a few possible underlying problems that Grace's group wants to possibly deal with-- *Frontier is a different type of class of colony from Galaxy. MOre self-sustaining, more integrated, more "natural" and has perhaps a better environment in terms of it being somewhat self-repairing and self-sustaining. The only robots we see are those that dispense drinks and clean the streets. Galaxy from what little we know loves technology, and people are enhanced, altered, modified, etc. It makes me wonder though if Galaxy is attempting to stage an opportunity for themselves to "destroy their ship" , be taken refuge aboard Frontier and take over? If your ship stinks, why not pull some pirate tactics and take over another one? *They have the same destination, e.,g the center of the galaxy-- to seek out the answer to the mysteries that have underlaid the entire Macross Universe. If there is some desire for power or fame at play and your ship has the same path as another... why not try to knock that ship out? What if you don't like the fact that Frontier has found a way to peacefully coexist? I'm still bothered by Sheryl apparently having never seen non-micronized Zentradi. Is there some kind of weird societal construct on GAlaxy ? Different culture that woudl be threatened by what they see on Frontier should Frontier get to the perceived destination first? Maybe I'm thinking much too large in terms of the larger conspiracy, but there have been hints already that people do not believe in peaceful coexistence and yet Frontier does it pretty seamlessly. Anyways, rambling, speculating, and would love to know from those who are far more versed in Macross lore exactly what people have thought they are trying to attain in this long journey.
  18. Blood type also appears to tell where someone originates from. There was a passing reference to Ranka and her blood showing where she was from. BLood could reveal a number of things -- blood type, yield samples for genetic typing/DNA fingerprinting (or even mitochondrial typing), whether you were being poisoned, etc. etc. IN theory though, taking any of Sheryl's cells should yield a lot of the same information, so maybe it's the poison/chemical issue at play. DNA can yield lots of good info - like your real cellular age. Dolly the cloned sheep had really bad looking chromosomes. Of course, if Sheryl is a clone, she could die earlier. But that's really all speculation. There's not enough evidence yet to suggest anything. Still I kind of funny that we got to see the blood dropped, smashed, and taken by a bot. If I were a paranoid world ruler, I"d make all the bots analyze the garbage that was dumped out XD. Or at least look for weird things. (Then again, I got vague "Moe" from Wall-E vibes from that sequence.) Fictional women don't fear rejection and don't angst as much. That and Alto really has been a complete blockhead all this time. Short of jumping him, there's really not much else they could do except sing.
  19. This part really unnerved me. THey were exploring all the other ships it sounds like looking for something. Perhaps the other eight (assuming that there were eight) have something to do with that, although Sheryl was also touring other places so it could be that she's #9 in a different sense -- sort of the inheritor to the legacy of other singers. Ranka's numbering was Q1. That implies there are more.... kind of interesting too. And how is this all going to get resolved in this few episodes? It really boggles the mind. Are we sure there might not be 39 eps?
  20. Regarding the singing... I can't wait to see fanvids of this.
