I was actually wondering if the revolt was supposed to succeed, with Sheryl getting fried and crispy and with her death being perceived as an attack and setting off some kind of international incident. In that case it would mean Ranka and Michael had gotten in the way... The only reason to mention that is several times already people have stated that things happening to Sheryl would be problematic. If this is the case, then Sheryl could seriously be in trouble again or the sights of the conspirators might turn towards Ranka. ... Another odd thought propelled by some comments here. We don't know when the green little "squirrel" creature was around before, but I'm assuming it could also be a Hydra. If that thing was hanging around Ranka before unbeknownst to her, could that also have made her a target for Hydras and Vajra?

Not yet, ufnrotuantely. I had some sketches for Sheryl and Ranka, but it's been a bit too hectic to finish them for Expo. As for the mechs, it's pretty daunting for me. I'm not a mechanical person, so I rarely draw cars and other technology without some reference. (And with mechanical things I prefer a 3D model)

LOL. I'll eventually get back to drawing other characters, but I really love drawing Hime. On the small chance that any of you are going to AX and want me to bring prints of these or my other MF piece, let me know. I still don't know what table assignment I'll be at, but come by and say hi...

A couple of comments *The "spoiler text" that appears in Wiki has been wrong from time to time. At one point it stated that the "Zero" episode would have Ranka and Sheryl starring respectively as Mao and Sara. So I take everything now with a grain of salt until the episode in question actually airs. * I think the "Alto-lack-of-character" dilemma is the theme for Alto. This episode was good because yet again, people are asking Alto whether he's just chasing after being a pilot because it's a form of rebellion (his 'brother') or running away (from Michael's mouth). Alto seems to not be sure, but we see hints that flight for him is a childhood dream. I'm annoyed that we don't have a whole lot of depth to him yet, but I believe it's coming.... perhaps with a ton of revelations at the end to his motivations and a bit more of a decision (on his part) on why he flies. And btw - who was the woman in his flashback? Mother? Note she's absent from his world at the moment -- we haven't seen any hint of her yet. Also, his father really seems to be "stifling". We've seen hints of the problems Alto had with his former environment with the words he's sometimes used to describe the sky. He really wants to be free, I think, of the expectations of others. HIs father rules his school with a harsh hand, and everyone just does what he says. I'm not sure any kid would really want to stay there without exploring the world outside. * I think if there are going to be entries in an Alto blog, it won't show up until we're further into the series, if at all. I wouldn't give viewers that much insight yet as I feel too much outside writing would take away the mysteriousness that keeps us speculating and entertained. * I'm not sure we're going to see a pairing resolution by the end of this 26 episodes. Alto hasn't given us any inclination of such, and he ultimately has to get a real clue before it's possible. From a writing standpoint it also limits possible development for a second series and should be set up as such. ( Heck if Gundam00 can do it, so can Macross but without all the angstorama.)

I'm so happy you guys are reposting them here -- much easier to read. I'm rather enjoying Sheryl's posts. There's just enough to hint about her way of thinking on life and relationships that it makes you pause a bit when you look at how she approaches the other characters in the series.

BTW - I did go into AnimeSuki to find the translations of the blogs and would like to see these posted separately to spare myself from the Ranka vs. Sheryl debating. The content in itself is very useful to understanding the characters better...

This is precisely why I enjoy this show so much. I started watching anime when we were passing fansubs around via videotape. I grew up on anime cutting my teeth on "Escaflowne" , "Rayearth" and other anime that were abit more intricate and the characters weren't ALL tragic. Sheryl is really a great mix of two or three archetypes to me -- it's almost like getting Belldandy and Urd together because it's not so straightforward. The only real problem I have with these pairings that people are getting so into is that the romance is a plot device that is almost necessary for ALto. Alto is really fun, but sometimes I think he's a piece of cardboard, shaped more by everyone seeing him than us understanding him for himself . (Part of hte problem is he doesn't even understand himself and hasn't let us the audience in to his thinking. Maybe that will change in the next episode as we get more exposition on him, but I'm irked that we've had more exposition into other's past than the primary character so far...) Anyways, back to the topic at hand. I like Sheryl. She's more like the person I'd like to be. Her character is fun to explore. I like Ranka - she's the little sister that I would always like to have. Her growth is what I'd like to see.

I think that after so much moe the last few years in anime that finding a complex female in the mix (without massive uber angst or cross-dressing) is indeed very refreshing. Sheryl really has a lot of womanly traits, but then suddenly throws something cute or vulnerable out there that sort of throws us off. So I voted for Sheryl. And it has nothing to do with her looks, but probably my age. I'm an older anime fan. I like seeing Alto with someone who is (at the moment) his equal or even better than him . I like watching the way they interact and push each other differently.

wow. I'm really interested in the earrings that were posted here. I'd like to know if they're heavy or wearable . (And if you can make a light pair as I think I'd like to buy some if you're going to be at AX XD )

Hm. I'm not sure what kind of fanworks are okay to be posted here, as I don't see much as far as drawing. But maybe I'm missing something, in which case, feel free to let me know where it should be moved. I don't want to kill any bandwidth, so hopefully this thumbnail link will do and actually work. (BBcode is pretty alien to me) Basically this is the first finished piece I've done for Macross. I'm still learning the characters so hopefully will do more. Not sure exactly what yet though
