  1. Yeah, I think that you are pretty close to one of the major flaws in the entire prequel trilogy. It seems that Lucas was not mindful enough of the events in ANH when he finished the third prequel. When you contrast Anakin and Bens final encounter in Revenge of the Sith with their encounter in A New Hope, they highlight the incompatible nature of the two trilogies. With Revenge of the Sith in mind, wouldn't it be reasonable to expect Ben to have a more emotional or shocked reaction at the appearance of Anakin/Darth in A New Hope. I know that when they meet in A New Hope that they havent' seen each other in about two decades but you wouid still expect a more emotional reaction from at least one of them? I don't know what Lucas could have done to avoid such a problem between the films. An encounter between Kenobi and Vader at the end of Revenge of the Sith, with Vader in full costume/cyborg form might have solved such problems. I;m not sure. I do know that events at the end of the prequel trilogy did seem to be very rushed, which is weird since proper pacing across the entire trilogy would have avoided such problems. Nah, I think that we would *like* to think that, but I think writing good prequels is a mugs game and nearly impossible.
  2. I didn't know that, which one are you?
  3. Of couse, I could write ridiculously long posts about what I'd tweak about those first two prequels. Hey, maybe if the first film didn't have Jar-Jar Bi..........ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  4. Nice poster. *really* playing up the "Tony Stark getting his arse kicked" thing, aren't they......
  5. I think the other major problem with episodes I-III is that Lucas only supposedly gave the relevant script pages to the actors on the days the scenes were filmed. If that is true it is bad filmmaking. He was supposed to have been really worried about the script leaking out......
  6. I would have thought that the SW fanboys would be more worried about the Keri Russell, Greg Grunberg and Amanda Foreman cameo's that are going to happen in Episode VII.
  7. Correct, but it's hard to improve on the original design. (which is why it has been kept as the design for the 2199 series with *very little* tweaking......) Was the anchor design that appeared on the side of some versions of the Yamato a Nishizaki rather than Matsumoto thing? Anybody know?
  8. Yeah, but the shadow chronicles stuff is what HG is trying to produce themselves. Live-action film would be a WB production using WB money. HG would just sit back and collect the royalties.....
  9. I think you are really getting to the heart of what we should all really be concerned about here. Direction and FX are important, yes, but if the script is not there to give the film good places to go it all falls apart. (This was the major flaw of the prequel trilogy, forget those whinging about Hayden and Jar Jar, etc) Some of you might remember when this image....... ......was posted on the Star Wars website after the release of Godzilla, effectively having a go at Godzilla for having a bad plot and also effectively saying that the Prequel Star Wars stuff would focus on plot. What a lie that was as we all were soon to see how crap the storyline and writing was for the Prequel trilogy. So with that sort of carry-on taking place in the past, it shows that the writing is going to be critical to episodes 7,8 and 9, but I still have very low expectations.
  10. I still think that they will have to be careful of potential legal action from the TF/Bay/Hasbro side of things. At the end of the day it will be win/win I am sure. All it has to have is the Robotech name, some characters with the same names as the RT ones (even if they are essentially different "characters") and some mecha with a vague resemblance to the originals. Not even that really. Original RT storyline, forget it, not needed. A decent script? Forget it, not needed. The Bayformers model shows how the Robotech films can essentially be absolute shite with little or no resemblance to the original product, and still potentially bring in billions. BUT, the Star Wars juggernaut is about to start up again. I wouldn't want to get in the way of *that*.
  11. Why would anybody want to direct this movie? It doesn't matter how good or bad it is, the fanrage is guaranteed anyway. SW fans have had over thirty years to imagine what they would want to see in these films and most of them will probably be disappointed.
  12. I think that this information you are bringing up here is pure speculation. Even if Lucas had said any of this himself I would take it with a pinch of salt. I am sure that as part of the deal with Disney that he probably "sold" them ideas for episodes 7,8 and 9 (pure speculation again, mind you) but if he wrote anything detailed about further episodes in the 70's of 80's I doubt we will see it on the big screen now.
  13. Absolutely true. Some fans know so much better than the original writers of fiction that they write slash fiction to fill in the gaps. A wonderful bunch of people, superfans.....
  14. Glad this thread was revived. This is where we need to discuss SW (nicely) until more is announced about Ep 7.
  15. Saw Compressorhead at the Big Day Out in Sydney yesterday, They were great!!!
  16. Love this little graphic from Wikipedia showing the timeline of the run of this program. I think few shows have had such a convoluted and mixed up run with the same cast as what RD has. My way of thinking has changed when it comes to this show. Personally now, I don't care if they keep making it forever, in fact, I would enjoy that. It is a great program even with it's abundant weaknesses. Its just shambolic fun.
  17. Sooooooo not true. I cannot believe the ignorance on this forum. RT fans are now looking forward to, and getting, their BOOKENDS!!!! AND their 2013 calendars........
  18. Saw these guys last week. Great show......
  19. Because as you point out, they are "pseudo-specs". I mean, really, do you think you could take some designs and build a real starship, for instance?? Or ANYTHING from Doctor Who, FFS?? People just do it 'cause it's fun.
  20. Thanks for pointing that out. Since this movie is clearly so unrealistic I am not going to go and see it now.
  21. I will add my own subtitle to this. "Captain, the Gamilon female is a verrrrrry fine specimen........"
