Bandai 1/72 Scale Transformable Macross Δ Kits

The stickers on these kits are the most fragile, difficult to apply and sensitive to finger grease stickers I have ever encountered. I gave up on the stickers on 3 different kits before getting the hang of it. Now that I have gotten the hang of it, I just finished the Sv-262 Ba and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Getting some of the stickers to conform to the curved shapes of the parts was a real chore. There's almost exactly 100 stickers on this kit. It'd be many more if I'd done all of the little markings.

I'm not sure that's actually possible. My Figurise Fumina is considerably larger than my HG Fumina. Like 1/6 scale vs 1/10 scale.

I finally got around to my second transformation of my Draken. The first try, using only the instruction manual, was pretty stressful and confusing, compared to the Arcadia and VF-25 valks I have. For my second try, I used Wotafa's excellent video as my guide and it was SO MUCH easier. It took about half the time of my first try, and I found like eight steps I had been doing wrong. I didn't realize until I was almost done that he had subtitles in English, but that didn't matter because the video itself was really clear on what to do. I really love the SV-262 design, and now I don't mind transforming it as much.

Bandai's model kits have ultra-precise fits, and I was always curious why the DX Chogokin stuff was so much less precise.

Now that the DX Chogokin SV-262 is out, does that just use the same DX standing and DX banking adaptors that are already on the site?

Got mine in the mail right before work today. It was painful to open it up, knowing I would only have a second to check it out, and no time to transform it. First impressions are good, no tampo issues on mine (glad I saw that in the thread AFTER I opened mine). The gold is a lot more orange than I was expecting, and that might be because I got used to the 1/72 kit colors first. I can't wait to get home and transform mine. Only 10 hours to go.

I'm really impressed that I got my payment request from Ami Ami today. Since the DX Chogokin line usually sells out so fast, I was absolutely convinced that preorders remaining open long enough for me to get one was an error, and that my order would get cancelled due to low stock. Does anybody know if Bandai made a bunch more of these than usual, or if they're surprisingly unpopular? They certainly seem popular enough in this thread.

Just preordered one. I haven't been able to get in on a preorder before they sell out since the first wave of Frontier valks, so I really hope this isn't an error on the part of Ami Ami.

Along those lines, I'd love to see a comparison between the Arcadia 19 and the Yamato 19, since I don't have the older one.

I don't know if this is fair. Not everybody is having problems with theirs. Mine has been almost problem-free and perfect. The tail-fins don't sit as flat as I'd like, but it's so minor that if I was writing a review I'd leave that out.

Has anybody else noticed that the stickers say "NEWEDWARS T.F.C." instead of "NEW EDWARDS T.F.C."? Looking at Graham's old review of the V2, I just noticed its stickers had the same mistake too.

I haven't really chimed in on the thread much, but I figured I'd speak up to say that I'm completely satisfied with my YF-19. It's only my 6th big Valkyrie (3 previous Yamatos and two Bandais), but it's by far my new favorite. Mine has no major defects, it was easier to transform than I expected, and it looks absolutely great.

I got my preorder in! Very happy day since I missed preorders for all of the last few Bandai Valkyries I care about (VF-171, and all the Renewal versions).Now April can't come fast enough!

Got mine all stickered and was finally ready to transform it into Battroid. Looks pretty good, I think the battroid porportions are... why the heck does the door holding the legs on keep opening on its own?! Gah. It's pointless to put your robot in a cool standing pose when ts legs keep falling off. Now I'm building the strike parts and wondering why the accessory released along with the Hikaru kit is strike-only when you have the option to use the VF-1A livery and head. Come to think of it, why is the super-only kit being released with Roy's VF-1S? Roy only flew with Strike parts I think.

I saw this and assumed you'd simply done something wrong while building, based on how well my build was going... This morning I finally got to the point where I put on the arms and legs and mine did that too. Very frustrating how poorly they fit in fighter mode, when so many other parts are engineered really well.

I think one of the biggest problems with this kit is the fact that it's portrayed as a "Gunpla-style" kit, which would imply no glue and lots of simple, sturdy polycaps. It's really not. It's somewhere between a Gunpla kit, and a Hasegawa kit. It definitely needs glue and patience. It may be easier to transform my Yammies, and my Hasegawa kit may have sharper little details, but I think this Bandai kit does not deserve all the hate it's getting.

I'm really enjoying building this kit. Usually when I build something like a Gundam kit I burn through it very quickly and don't bother with stuff like glue or paint. For this one I've been taking my time, doing the panel lines in Sharpie and carefully gluing things. So far I haven't accidentally glued anything that's supposed to move. There's a lot about this kit I like. The proof will be when I'm done and can transform it for the first time, but so far the mechanical bits seem to work well, and the details and proportions look nice.

Preorders are up for this! Hobby Search is sold out, but I managed to get a preorder on Ami Ami. Edit: Wow, I missed the first day of preorders by multiple days. Regardless, if you're slow like me, they have some at Ami Ami.

The lighting is terrible here and it's kinda blurry, but here's the latest iteration of my Macross desk. I found some acrylic risers at The Container Store that were perfect for all 78 Macross Fighter Collection valks.

I dropped my Yamato 1/60 VF-0S the day I got it and almost had a heart attack. One of the tail find popped off, but it did so in such a way that I could just pop it back on and all was well.

2/28/12 8:11PM me, over IM to a friend: New fancy space-plane just got announced. I'm not gonna let this one slip through my fingers. [i included a link to pictures of the 171] Today: ARGH!!!!! I missed out on the VF-25F and VF-25S renewal versions too. Very frustrating.

I don't remember if I've mentioned this idea before. Did you try a "want it now" listing on Ebay? That's how I ended up finding my YF-19.
