  1. Man, that's replaced "more than meets the eye" as the brand slogan at this point.
  2. One of my favs too. I do think it is interesting to note that after the movie came out; some publications insisted the Enterprise actually changed class during her refit(to the Enterprise-class, naturally). So this bit of silliness isn't new to Trek, even if they've stretched it farther this time.
  3. You know what the worst thing is about Frenzy Frieza Freezer? I love the concept, but the execution is just terrible. He turns into an artillery piece for smaller toys, or a rifle WITH AN ACTUAL SHOULDER STOCK for larger ones. And the stock's adjustable enough to fit a good range of arms. This should be cool as heck, but... no, he just looks like Kickback had a seizure.
  4. Tow chains. No, seriously. Hear me out. Space folds can pick up other things in the vicinity, and that vicinity can be surprisingly large. A "tow truck" ship with an intentionally oversized fold drive specifically designed to pull up near another vessel and fold with it is well within the realm of plausibility. Even if it requires a "disposable" drive to make a huge-volume fold, like what happened when the Macross took off with an island, the destruction of a fold drive to secure a factory satellite seems like a good trade.
  5. Madness. More than anything else, THIS makes me want Picard to have not happened. Just making sure!
  6. To be clear, I was making crap up. But Riker's not a normal Starfleet officer. He's former commander, and temporarily captain, of the Enterprise. I don't believe any Enterprise bridge officer went on to have a normal, uneventful career, least of all aer transporter-cloned borg-desimillating first officer. If the Ent-D's former crew isn't all on several watch lists, then the Federation's not doing due diligence. I have no trouble believing his first command survived as long as the Enterprise-A.
  7. Dammit, Sega. Why you gotta be dicks? I expect this sort of asshattery from Nintendo, but you're better than this.
  8. I don't object to the concept of an heir to the Constitution's legacy. Be it the Excelsior or the Ambassador or whatever, every ship designer will want to borrow from that legacy of service, particularly the legendary cruise of the 1701. But just straight-up calling it "Neo-Constitution-class" is hamfisted and ugly. Edit: And honestly, if you can't get the contract for the next Enterprise, you should be ashamed to even CONSIDER calling your design Neo-Constitution.
  9. Obviously Riker wrecked it. Probably in a desperate gambit to deal with something that would have galaxy-spanning consequences. Sadly, the details are classified pending the release of the final report from the Department of Temporal Affairs. Also: Neo-Constitution class? Just ugh.
  10. Leader don't mean what it used to, what with all the price-cutting these days.
  11. Given the only other boobytrap in the original show was drifting in space, and wasn't there when they came back for it later, it seems likely the ASS-1 was never intended to "land". Just float around and look tempting to any passing zentradi, and if they don't take the bait, fold somewhere elso so they don't come back ready to disarm the trap.
  12. It is shown to knock down a skyscraper on the way TO South Ataria, if my memory's not mistaken. It probably only hypersonic-boomed one major population center, just because what are the odds.
  13. Definitely easier, but where's the fun in that? You could also mount a mirror to the front of the Wiimote to create an angled view. I confess I couldn't remember the Prime 3 controls to save my life.
  14. If you can find a Nyko "Action Pak" at this point in time, that might do what you want already. It's a Nyko Wand(Wiimote) packaged with a pistol grip that interfaces electronically rather than a mechanical linkage. The pistol trigger is a mirror of the Wiimote trigger, and the "hammer" works as the A button(maybe useful?).
  15. I've played console FPS games before and since. I always thought Prime's controls were an interesting solution to the reduced precision of thumbsticks. (I say this as someone who generally prefers gamepad to keyboard&mouse or keyboard&trackball for PC FPS. The latter solutions are more precise, but less fun.) I do grant that a game kind of has to be constructed with that control scheme in mind, you can't just bolt it on later and expect it to work well.
  16. I saw one of the original development team posted about this. Said they completely screwed up the colored lighting on the doors(which he spent a lot of time getting just right), but other than that it was fantastic. Personally, I liked the original game's controls. But I'm seriously considering this for the improved textures and lighting. And I'm really glad they seem to have avoided any urge for revisionism or major "improvement", as it's rare that an oldschool Metroid fan gets a win these days and Prime was as close to perfect as the technology of the time allowed.
  17. And we can never forgive Bay for turning Jazz into "that guy that said two sentences and then got murdered by Megatron". ... Then bringing Megatron back from the dead multiple times and leaving Jazz to rust.
