1. Hi Berttt. Having studied the lineart for the Destroids somewhat, I can say that the only leg components that are the same on the Phalanx and Tomahawk are the lower legs and the foot; everything else is custom-constructed. As far as price is concerned, my aim is to maintain consistency in the pricing, so that if future variants are made, they will be about the same price. The key point to remember is that with artsy stuff of this nature, nothing is 100% certain: it all depends on how well (or not)one model is recieved, how the molding/casting goes, and most importantly, how I feel about working in a specific rut for a determined length of time. 417051 Thanks John. Just as a point of discussion (since I don't own any art books) when you say "lower leg" is that from the knee down?
2. 105 is not a bad price at all considereing that the 20 year old plastic 1/72's got for between 50-80 bucks plus shipping. To be blunt, is this price taking into account that the legs etc will be used on other kits in the line (thus making all of the 1/72 destroids with common legs cheaper), or will the cost of the following kits be lower? ...........you are going to release the Tomahawk and defender aren't you? Cheers, Berttt
3. Sounds very cool man. That little Mars rover thing has alway been one of my favourites. Cant wait for you to tackle the Commanchero (hint hint)
4. Hey Grayson, you have the Regult Pod scout listed twice
5. Real nice Thorsten. Have yo put any thought into what else besides the 6x6 and cola machine will be in the set? Valkyrie: I have some 1/100 Valk wheels if you need em. Cheers, Berttt
6. me too please. Cheers, Berttt
7. Sweet ghost man that sure is a nice kit!
8. Make sure you use some putty and make the nose a bit pointy. I didn't do that and wish I had of. Berttt.
9. Just my personal opinion, and I have to admit that if a model looks spot on you don´t have to change the shape just for the sake of it - but essentially it should be true to my own envisioning not someone else´s before I consider producing it. The lesser known Macross designs and the few linearts leave a lot of room for personal interpretation. BTW what Mospeada kit are you thinking of? 410105 I was thinking about having a serious attack on a 1/12 MOSPEADA Ride Armour kit, really just jazzing it from it all to plain OOB self. Also I am very keen on attempting some infantry based of these images I found. Before I get to that I plan on stretching my kitbashing and scratchbuilding skills. Right now I am on a completion campaign to finish all my current projects, then I want to take a new perpective on the hobby and learn some new skills. Berttt
10. So how much of the original kit would have to be modified to be classed as a "new" kit? I have a long term plan in mind regarding a mospeada kit.
11. I can scan the instructions if you want. Give me day or so.
12. Macross Plus Nasjoudal Ger Kai: DYRL N Ger:
13. Hey Justicar, I can see where you are coming from but here is the deal. There have been so many great kits come out in the last couple of years that I think people are broke, I know I am. I have had to miss out on too many kits that I really wanted, I hate to say it, but there is just too much choice, as modelers we are a spoilt bunch. Also Mike's 1.72 scale it is coming out soon and a lot of people have committed to that, had this offer been on the table then, you would have been swamped. If I may offer a suggestion, how about going in a different direction, picking say the Mac Zero Cheyenne, or maybe a 1/72 Movie N Ger or Mac Plus N Ger Kai. Also there is plenty of demand for other designs like the cat's eye, Dragon II etc. While they were mastered by Tanmen, that bloke has surely burned all his bridges here, and despite the temptation, recasting his kits is not the best option, and besides, if the real models came out anything like you CAD, it would beat the hell out of his stuff. I can appreciate your work, but I think with GH's 1/100, and Mike's 1/72, the Monster has been taken care of for a while. It's just a case of being beaten to the punch. But hey if you can punch out an entire line of 1/72 destroids inside of six months I say go for it. Captain America was going to attempt the line but first in best dressed I say. I look forward to seeing what you can do for this humble hobby. Cheers, Berttt
14. As for wheels you might be able to use some a WWII 3/4 ton truck and shim them. Putty up and scribe some detail. I didin't do that here, instead I got a 2mm strip o ribbed steyrene and added it in there as I was feeling lazy. The front wheel look kinda small so you might want to use one off say a Hasegawa GSE cart or maybe a tank return roller puttied and the tread pattern scribed in. Cheers, Berttt
15. Don't forget our own Gundamhead already has a 1/100 Monster master. It should have been available by now had SMT not dropped the ball. Berttt
16. Did any of you guys jump on the Yellow Sub sale for these a few weeks back? I have mine and they are great, a few very minor flaws, but I am really looking forward to getting around to these. Berttt
17. Here a couple of things: 1/48 scale Hind: 1/72 Starfury, I used it for scribing practice and couldn't be bothered researching it, so panel lines are totally arbitrary: 1/72 scale DML StuG IV Late: And last but not least, Hasegawa YF-19: Cheers, Berttt
18. LOL the last thing I ever expected was kit makers to be tussling over who would take on which subject
19. Got mine yesterday, awesome kit Thorsten. I have an idea for this one - pity it has to wait. Berttt
20. Nice to see this progressing Cowie, we'll have to catch up one time so I can see it Cheers, Berttt
21. Hey physioguy, are thoise fuchikoma (sp) your working on there?
22. GH your sculpt beats the hell out of this frankenstein. http://www.dsnw.ne.jp/~comet/model/t-monster.html What the hell is up with those feet? Tat guys can paint a model like a maniac, but his interpretation of the the line art could do with some work. Berttt

Another Vf-0s

I hear ya LSTO. There is a lot of surface detail missing on the fuselage, unlike the Hase which has detail packed in there.
24. Wayne just updated his website with some more pics.
25. I know I sound like a salesman for SS but I just think that it is too easy to bash something you have never seen or spoken to the kit maker. I am only giving my imperssions, having actually seen the kit and spoken to Wayne. Scale Solutions don't sell any other kits of this size. Most of Wayne's stuff is not to a standard scale since most other castings are one piece and sized to fit in his pressure pot. So that will explain why theyre is a major price difference. Also the volume of material is pretty huge, there is a lot of resin in that kit. Plus like I have said before resin is expensive here, 250mls of resin is about AUD$50, then you have the cost of molds on top of that. As for details, I can agree that some of the sculpting is a bit too organic, even for my liking, but comparing the amount of work I would have had to put into my original booster fuselage castings (which everyone here raved about), and the amount of work to change a few details on the Nupetiet-Vergnitzs, I would rather the latter, if for no other reason than the resin seems much easier to work with. There are not a huge amount of panel lines, (as in there aren't a billion tiny squares) but there are enough to give it a sense of scale and show that it is assembled, not grown. They are quite finely engraved too, and on some of the heavier ones (they vary from light to heavy, depending on what they represent) there is a slight paint chipping effect, like the edges of some ablative armour panels have been torn away by something. It's quite cool to look at actually. The larger rivet type holes (doubt they would be rivet holes in reality) look like they are a bit obvious and don't quite gel , but I didn't see a painted one so I can't tell how it would come out. They wouldn't take much to get them to look more integrated. Over all the details are great. I could always ask wayne to give me a close pic of some of thr details for you to have a look at. It's no good me doing it, my photography sucks. I hop that helps. Berttt
