    Macross figures

I bought the Sheryl figure. It'll probably remain boxed for the foreseeable future as I simply have no place to put it at this time.
  2. The DX is a fantastic toy, no doubt. And Yamato has been out of business for years now, so that's not an option for most people who want a VF-1 anyway, unless they want to scrounge the aftermarket for whatever Yamatos are still out there which will end up costing as much if not more than the Bandai DX. For peeps like me who already had a sizable Yamato collection before the DX: Bandai's offering is only an incremental improvement over what we already had, with some steps backward. It wasn't the gigantic leap forward like going from the chunky monkeys to Yamato. Still a great toy and I've bought all of them so far, but I'm still holding on to my Yamatos. Also, my Yamato VF-1s are in scale with all my other valks. For everyone else: the DX is a great toy and really the only game in town, aside from the occasional Arcadia reissue. It's worth the purchase. Just avoid the scalpers.
  3. It does some things better but also does some things worse. To me it's a wash, considering what a PITA it is to even get a DX, much less track down the SSP and missile sets if you didn't order a bunch during the PO period, I would hardly go so far as to say it blows anything but itself, as Bandai seems to be its own worst enemy.
  4. Which of you bastards snagged this lovely Super Ostrich? https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1149237140&ref=list&keyword=マクロス
  5. So Bandai botched up the simple task of having a removable cover? Something Yamato has had on their SSPs for over 15 years? Nothing but the best at Bandai! They sure did. Addendum: Wasn't sure where to put this, but there's a Yamato 1/60 DYRL Kakizaki for sale on Mandarake right now, for those who missed out on the DX and want something in scale with all your other valks anyway, or really need to finish that 1/60 DYRL squadron. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1149237855&ref=list&keyword=マクロス
  6. If anyone is still looking for the new SOC Leopardon, it's on AJ for 16k (tax included so around 14500 when you checkout). https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/product/B0868P5F41/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. Finally got my Endgame Captain Marvel. Looks so much better than the first Captain Marvel figure. The energy thingies for the thighs fall off at the slightest touch and the blue boxing gloves look kinda dumb, so I won't be using those.
  8. WTF is a panel-former?
  9. Too late. I already customized a set for him.
  10. Hmm giving it to a brownie may not be such a bad idea.
  11. Picked up the weathering edition of the Yamato super parts as they have a pretty nice paint app. But who do I give it to?! My Hikaru and Roy 1S already have PF strike parts. Maybe Hikaru's 1A but then that nicely painted strike cannon goes to waste... decisions decisions.
  12. @tekering already went over everything pretty well, so no need to repeat it all. But yes the 6x reaction missile loadout is only seen in the TV series, and only in one episode. No one used that loadout in DYRL. Promotional art and the like would be considered beta canon, if such art exists. I've never seen such for the movie. Nothing so meta. @Sanity is Optional was saying that something he saw in some promotional art or something was canon, despite not actually being in the movie. Nothing to do with the TV series or the overall Macross timeline. If he wants to put 6x reaction missiles on his DYRL valks, that's cool. Not sure why being canon or not would diminish his enjoyment of that. You would be terrible at Final Jeopardy.
  13. Sure, if you just want to mix up your own loadouts. Nothing wrong with that. No valk in DYRL is ever seen using 6x reaction missiles, at least among the heroes. Hikaru uses 4x missile boxes in the ending battle only. Proper DYRL loadout is 2x missile boxes and 4x reaction missiles. So if you want a canon loadout, then you can only do two per missile set (one TV one movie).
  14. There's room in each for some missile parts without adding to the box size. Yamato boxes were always oversized for their contents and is not a good example. You can properly equip two valkyries with each missile set (one movie and one TV), unless you want some of your guys to have the sad and pathetic layout of one missile cluster and one reaction missile on each wing or something. I'd probably do that for some brownies if those ever materialize. That's just not acceptable for the hero valks.
  15. Cracked and placed an order for a second PF. From Japan charged me the full amount up front this time around.
  16. Awesome! Now maybe customize it to a Macross Zero paint scheme.
  17. There's always going to be something better later on down the line, whether it's valkyries or game consoles or cars or whatever. Unless they simply stop making valkyries altogther and we go back to the days of $1000 for a 1/55 chunky. Who the hell wants that? At some point you just have to jump in and enjoy. If the toys you bought gave you fun and enjoyment, then it wasn't a waste, no matter what comes out later.
  18. Double its original price. And people will pay it because who knows if Bandai will ever do another run. It's not like Bandai is releasing additional valkyries that people might want missiles for. Who thought it was a great idea to release the missiles separately and doesn't work for Bandai? I doubt the addition of a couple pieces of unpainted plastic would have significantly added to the price of a DX valkyrie. The reaction missiles should have been included with the super packs.
  19. Even Kakizaki could have been had for minimal mark-up if you got an order in through a proxy service, but slots were limited so you had to order early. It was still a much longer window to order than the usual 30 seconds or so with regular retail releases. Mine was 20700 yen (19800 for the item then another 900 yen in proxy fees). Then just shipping cost when the item was ready to ship to me. IIRC retailers like AE did carry Kakizaki but at a modest mark-up. But even that price was better than the aftermarket and scalper shenanigan prices, unless you're fast enough to snatch a cheap one off Mandarake. I have yet to be able to catch a not-sold listing. All the others I got at the 18000 yen PO price. Actually, I picked up Hikaru's 1S in Tokyo myself for I think 17800. It's just a gigantic hassle getting Bandai's stuff, especially if you're late to the party. Again, we're just a bunch of circus seals begging for a fish, as far Bandai is concerned.
  20. That's what I wish people would recognize when they bellyache about Arcadia prices while wistfully wishing for the days of Yamato's prices. Yamato's strategy and pricing was clearly not sustainable. Like eating nothing but 99 cent cheeseburgers all your life because it's cheaper than all those other pesky foods like vegetables. Right up until that heart attack gets you. I've no problem with the pricing of Bandai's stuff. It's the availability that's a b****. Bandai makes us struggle like a bunch of circus seals hoping the trainer will toss a fish at us.
  21. If you want to combine shipping with an existing Mandarake order, when you reach the comments field on the second to last page during checkout, just put in "Please combine shipping with order ID [existing order number]" and they'll do it and send you an updated invoice with everything in one box, no fuss. As said earlier, you can only do this if the orders are at the same physical store.
  22. Mandarake is of course on Japan time so most listings are going to appear in the middle of the night for those in the western hemisphere.
  23. Bandai where's my 1/48 Q-Rau with articulated Miria pilot figure?
  24. Wow! Looks like a well-built vintage VF-1 model kit rather than a toy. Great work! Are those the DX hands?
