  1. Interesting. I didn't get dinged for US tax. Shipping is global priority which is DHL for me.
  2. Minus tax at checkout. You're welcome. I went ahead and got one for myself since, with my Amazon points, it ended up being only a few bucks more than if I preordered from Amiami, assuming the shipping will be the same as the YF-29 set (boxes are almost exactly the same size).
  3. Just slightly over 25k from this AJ seller and they ship overseas. 3k to ship to USA. https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/aw/d/B08C3GRZ4P/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=AYFC3JV1B9X2Y&psc=1
  4. No that's pretty much it. It's really that easy.
  5. It's the same as any other weekend. They probably have some kind of Black Friday sales but none of the stampedes and madness and camping out we have in America. And most of those shoppers are probably not buying expensive anime toys, much less Macross toys. Let's stop assuming the rest of the world is like America. Worst case scenario is that your valk ships on Monday or Tuesday, which was going to happen anyway regardless of what weekend it was. Expect the usual COVID related delays we've been dealing with all year, which has nothing to do with Thanksigivng.
  6. Thanksgiving is an American holiday and the craziness we associate with Black Friday in America isn't really a thing in Japan. So it won't really be any different than any other release.
  7. You specifically said $1k USD. PF SDF-1 cost me 48k yen, or around $440 at the time.
  8. And what people who sit around explaining such things to everyone don't understand is that explaining why something is done doesn't make it okay. Or, in this case, explaining the Bandai labyrinth does not make their products any easier to buy or make preordering them any less of a gigantic hassle. Whatever the reasons, making customers jump through a bunch of hoops to give you their money is ass backwards. Who the f*** cares what difficulties Bandai or some retailer has? That's their problem, not ours. Making their problems the customer's is why so many people despise NY, and Bandai is doing it too.
  9. So it seems a VT-1 reissue might be in the cards, but for anyone who wants one now, here you go. Love the rainbow canopy! https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1152029579&ref=list&keyword=マクロス
  10. Garmony Hold's interference is mostly a non-issue in this age of internet commerce. If you don't like paying taxes on stuff you buy, you should petition your government to do something about it. No, the rot starts at the source, with Bandai. They're the ones making it so hard to buy their stuff and give them money. What an ass backwards way to run things. God forbid if a toy ends up sitting on the shelf for a day or two.
  11. Even lottery items can be preordered from certain retailers. I preordered the 31J Kai from Big in Japan. The 1D on display is clearly a prototype. You can even see silvering around the intake decal.
  12. Definitely want that 1D and Roy & Hikaru GBP sets. Not sure about Max. That bright red white & blue reminds me of some weirdo neighbor painting his truck in an American flag motif. But I want the Max 1J! Bandai will include the one 31 speaker pod in each Chuck and Arad super part set, so if you want speaker pods for Hayate, Messer, and Mirage, you'll have to buy multiples of Arad/Chuck. Because it's Bandai.
  13. The shoulder gap has existed since the first 29. It's simply not a particularly well-designed area.
  14. You can remove the entire shoulder assembly from the body by unscrewing it from the bottom of the backplate.
  15. That background works surprisingly well with the 29!
  16. With regards to the toys, the only thing that matters to Kawamori is the number of zeroes on the check.
  17. Good luck painting those sensors! My hands aren't steady enough for that kind of work. My fuel tanks have the black arrows on them. Looks like another victim of Bandai's crappy QC lottery.
  18. I see you've already started working on them. Mine will have to wait a few weeks as I have some PS4 games that need playing.
  19. Oooo if you make a full set of decals for this release, I'd love a set. I'll have to pick up a regular edition too, I guess.
  20. It's not like there are a million versions of the RX-78 or anything like that.
  21. I'm referring to waterslides when I talk about decals, though not all decals are waterslides. The stuff that comes with Arcadia standard releases are stickers. "Decal stickers" is an oxymoron. https://cobygraphics.com/difference-sticker-label-decal/ It's really a dark grey. Even the Flory's concrete wash, which looks like a light grey in the bottle, looks pretty dark once applied in lines and dried when applied to a light surface.
  22. I'd be fine with the regular edition if Arcadia would just give us a sheet of decals. Even Bandai gave us decals, if only so we could fix their screw-ups.
  23. This kind of randomness in quality is a Bandai hallmark. My original super parts have nice flush doors. Too bad I can't use them because the red paint is much brighter and won't match the new 29's darker red.
  24. A bunch of the doors on the super parts on both my copies do not sit flush at all. This goes back to what I wrote awhile back about how Bandai valks have always had an inferior fit and finish to Yamato. I'm going to have to dig out my original YF-29 super parts from storage and see if they were like this too. This one is especially egregious.
