  1. Bandai as an organization does not tolerate failure... which is why they never admit to any failures.
  2. He gets sidelined in the movie and contributes the same to the final battle. Which is absolutely nothing.
  3. All that tampo printing isn't dazzling enough to hide the fact that fighter mode is inferior to Yamato. I felt the same way about their YF-19 compared to Arcadia's. And their 1/48 VF-1 compared the Yamato 1/60. Bandai is incapable of improving something without detracting from elsewhere.
  4. So yeah, compared to the HMR VF-4, Bandai seems to have taken a step back with the overall fit and finish on the 0S. Side note: even though it uses the same sliding arm mechanism as the VF-1, I found it more difficult to tuck everything into fighter mode than the 1/60 0S. Add to that fewer tabs and detents than its bigger counterpart. The VF-4 was also equally lacking in detail markings out of the box though. Admittedly, the HMR 0S looks better in fighter mode than battroid, which is surprising for a Bandai valk. HMR VF-0S vs HMR VF-4 (both taken using DSLR) HMR vs 1/60 (both taken with phone camera)
  5. Bandai does a lot better with the non-transforming mecha in this line. I guess for their development teams it's not much different than working on a Gundam.
  6. Got 3 more stands in transit. Of course the Cavaliers will be getting the PF treatment. Eventually. Er, been playing God of War on PS5 instead of doing any valk work... Yeah, I have a bunch of Hot Toys Iron Man suits and the battery situation is ridiculous. Have to put tiny batteries in the head, chest, arms, legs, and even shoulders on some of them to light up everything. And then I have to take them out because those suckers will eventually start leaking if you leave them in too long. So the light up function is never used except in the rare situation I want to take some pics and go through the hassle of opening up all those compartments (and they're a real hassle to open) to place all those tiny batteries.
  7. 15 years later we're finally getting the Frontier toys we should have gotten in the first place. Only took three trips to the well! Thanks for the triple dip, Bandai!
  8. The brown knight lol
  9. The mono eye looks like someone left masking tape over it.
  10. The VF-19 was one of Yamato's best toys and I'm curious to see how Bandai will improve upon it. Of course with Bandai every time they make an improvement somewhere, they take a step backwards in another area...
  11. Or like an N64 game with way too much filtering and everything ends up soft and blurry. Yeah, it feels like they took Yamato's old molds and scaled everything down except the panel lines and edges.
  12. Arcadia needs to dispense with the regular editions. I want that PF Tomahawk.
  13. Looks like it's made out of wax.
  14. Maybe, but I'd rather spend the time on the many 1/60s that need attention. Would love to see the finished product!
  15. So I had the misfortune of opening my HMR VF-0S after seeing @Angesdad's excellent customized version and, well, it's a bit disappointing. Once again Bandai is charging full price for a half-finished product. Why do I say it's half-finished? Well, let's compare it to another Bandai transforming toy of near identical size, complexity, and price which I happened to have close at hand. The Zeta has sharp paint application with lots of details printed on, while the 0S looks like a 2500 yen gunpla kit someone couldn't bother applying all the stickers to. Please don't get the impression that I think the HMR VF-0S is a bad toy by any means. I'm actually damn impressed that Bandai gave us a near perfect transformation 0S at this small scale. It just seems to me Bandai cheaped out towards the end and couldn't bother giving it the same level of accuracy and detail that they afford their other toys in the same price range.
  16. It was on Mandarake for about $270 at the time of purchase. A bit expensive but it's one of the last valks I need to complete my Yamato collection.
  17. Now you have to customize all future Zero releases so they'll match your 0S.
  18. I haven't opened any of the super parts or Bogue's 31AX. After watching the 2nd Delta movie recently... I'm even less motivated to open them. I'll buy the Ghost and throw it on the pile of unopened Delta toys.
  19. Man those look so good. Ever consider doing proper 1/48 figures for the DX line? I think the pilot figures are the biggest eyesores and just make the entire scale look wonky.
