    I don't know. I think the idea has merit with some tweaking. Albeit, this is all pie-in-the-sky speculation... IMO, a true reboot would let go of Macross and continue forward with the New Generation story. Trying to rewrite Macross again with Scott Bernard and a handful of other key characters sewn in like some kind of patchwork seems a kind of folly. It may be anecdotal, but the friends that I know who still enjoy Robotech want to see more Mospeada. They are aware of Macross and its sequals, but when watching Robotech they are able to set apart the two universes. The need to continue Macross as Robotech has become a non-starter for them. I think part of HG's issue is that it has become disconnected on multiple levels. The Kickstarter project seems to be bearing that out.

    Alas, there are no Masterpiece Wreckers. I've been picking up the voyager releases, though. They're decent.

    An armor only release would be nice. But if the recent YF-19 release is anything to go by, a GBP release will be a complete package: both Valkyrie and Armor set. I'm just crossing my fingers hoping that the colors are correct, without and odd omissions to obvious details. VF-1 vs VF-0 armor? I would be happy with either.

    Wow. I didn't think I would ever see anyone completely dismantle and overly simplify the plot and character interactions of SDF Macross in one short paragraph, but here we are. I can finally sell off my Toynami collection without regrets.

    Got it. Thanks. The extra detail helps. I hadn't thought about the transition from CGI with live action elements to CGI with animated elements. Since I'm not in the industry, I have no idea what the learning curve is there. And without an open forum for this project to see behind-the-scenes activity, I'll have to rethink what I wrote above... All theories are valid at this point. Speaking of behind the scenes updates, and in the even this was funded, I wonder if HG would be open to doing something similar to what Tim Schafer did after raising money for Broken Age? Would they allow a third party to document the whole thing?

    I think this is a stretch. Creavision has shown that they can create content. At HG, what they need is the direction that focuses their talent. It's more of a management thing. I'm not sure how the unrelated C&D drama from earlier would enter into a failed kickstarter project. That bad PR is only interesting to a small, select group of people. I think the better question would be, will HG keep Creavision employed if the Kickstarter fails? In other words, will they try another avenue to secure the pilot and reach the same end? This is getting a little dark, even for the humor in this thread. Although the memory of Macek may be fair game, the late Carl himself is gone. It would be really, really low for HG to blame him. I think both of these points are the most valid in your list, seto kaiba. And as nice as it would be to see Tommy Yune being held accountable at HG, along with the aging staff responsible for Robotech after so many dead ends, the more likely result will be to blame the fans. I can already imagine the end: An aloof HG staff shrugging their shoulders, noting that the nostalgia movement has passed them by once again.

    You're welcome, Mr. March. The 25F is a great choice. I bought one after picking up Isamu's YF-29 Durnadal. Comparing the YF-29 to the VF-25 on design alone, I prefer the look of the VF-25 series. It's not as busy or pointy, there is no backpack turret to get in the way, and I think the VF-25 looks much better in fighter mode. When bringing accessories into the comparison, there is no contest. The VF-25 series has more, and that presents more options. My hope is the same as others over in the renewal series thread. Given that the 25F has seen multiple releases, it would be great if the 25S or 25G were given the same treatment later this year. I think it would be fantastic if Bandai released both again, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm just doing my best to ignore the aftermarket prices. There is so much out there to keep our interest: Blu-rays, artwork, toys, figures. Having a plan for it all is paramount. And your process here is admirable. Good luck in your final decision!

    Yeah. But It still boggles my mind. After watching the short with Cesar Turturro, I was struck by how much Robotech might benefit from fresh talent that isn't locked into the thought processes of the old guard. If it's true that Robotech is not part of HG's main business, then why perpetuate this stuff? Why not instead reorganize it, Microsoft-style, with a new team that includes the Creavision staff and other new faces? Edit: Earlier in the thread I think it was mentioned that HG proper didn't care about Robotech. That seems backward, especially in the face of this Kickstarter project, which I think would have a lot more success if it was truly about starting over. But then, I could be way off since I wasn't as entrenched in the history of it all as others appear to be..

    Rick Hunter? He sure does get around the Robotech universe. I don't know what is more depressing: Is it the fact that Tommy Yune and company continue to use the same tactics and haven't learned from their mistakes, or is it the fact that there are people who have pledged almost $160,000 to this and think that it is good business? I am very confused. There has to be some other thing or some other individual who has a better reason for that amount of money, and who has communicated their need better than this group from HG in the last two weeks.

    The more I look at it, the more I agree. There's room for some big improvements. Hell yes! I would also love to see how the VF-14 transforms between its three different modes.

    It could just be my imagination adding in lines. The VF-14 looks to be a riff off the SR-71 Blackbird. I'm having a hard time placing the VA-1SS with anything in the real world. But when I look at these pictures, the VA-1SS looks like it could be a smaller, stubbier, future craft made by the same company.

    As was said, Tornado Parts are where it's at for the VF-25F. They look like the Strike Parts of the Frontier line to my eyes. Also, they are about to be released, so there is a good chance that you will get an okay price on extra stock. Otherwise, take the Old Man's advice and get the 25A if you want the Super Parts right now. Next to the 25A, I think only the 25G still has reasonable accessories at retail.

    The Metal Siren has a nice aesthetic. In a way, it almost seems like it could be a derivative design of the VF-14 Vampire using an enhanced battroid mode.

    This is what I thought YF-29 Durandal was pointing out. It is entirely possible that I missed his point, though (I do that sometimes). The Macross Chronicle cover was one I hadn't seen before today, and I think the T-Rex parts are a nice model of Tenjin's illustration, which itself is a unique interpretation of the cell artwork.
