  1. It's pretty common for a lot of shows to not have intros for the first episode, either to squeeze more time out for the story or not show the spoilers that would be in the OP. It's a very nice looking and sounding series so far, but the story is kinda generic for a first episode.
  2. I think it will show up here eventually. Bandai is releasing MSG vs Zeta and the SEED game Towards a Neverending Tomorrow here, so Alliance vs ZAFT would be a logical followup game.
  3. If I remember correctly, Manga also lost the license to Gunbuster, which is why it's not on DVD.
  4. Slightly off topic, but does anyone have custom Macross Plus DVD covers? The OVA covers are okay, but I really can't stand Manga's cover for the movie version.
  5. Wasn't their Macross box set also supposed to include Macross II?
  6. That's pretty unrealistic to expect Fox to push it off for another year because they can't get Marsden. Fox is hellbent on getting the movie out by summer 2006, even though filming hasn't even started yet. If they wait another year, it's likely that more important people like Jackman, Stewart, and McKellen will be busy with other projects.
  7. Even though he didn't have the symbol, it was the same thing. In SEED, he reported directly to Supreme Council Chairman Patrick Zala when he was assigned to the special forces. It's the same as what he does now with Gilbert Dullindal. As others have said before, it's just a minor retcon.
  8. Just because the main development cycle is over, it doesn't mean the game is finished. You have to do bug testing, the music, record the dialogue, etc. You also have to plan the game's release so that it's close to the holidays when it would likely sell much much more. Even for Zelda, if you release it in mid-June, it's not going to be as profitable as if you do it in November or December.
  9. Which would be right about now. I posted an interview on MAHQ with Bandai's Jerry Chu where he announced the licensing of DESTINY and the SEED compilation specials.
  10. The scan is indeed from a Strike Design contest. The winner was a design cleaned up by BEE-CRAFT that became the Lightning Strike Gundam. It's officially a part of SEED-MSV, and I'd provide the MAHQ link for it, but the server's undergoing an upgrade. Here's a pic though:
  11. It's a bootleg. Many HK bootlegs have inferior translations with bad subtitles. I would recommend you buy the AnimEigo DVD box sets while they're still around. The three box sets are like 40 dollars each, and you get amazing video/audio quality along with an accurate translation.
  12. Episode 14 was almost entirely recap except for a few minutes about George Glenn. Episode 15 was at least half recap as well. All of 26 was recap, as was most of 27.
  13. It stands for ZAFT Armed Keeper of Unity. To really have some fun, if you look at it there's an acronym in the acronym. Makes we wonder what's going on over at Sunrise.
  14. Aside from the removal of all the alien references, there's plenty of new scenes. One of them has MacLeod being chased by Katana on a truck and going to a mountaintop to find that the atmosphere has repaired itself. The movie is also re-edited to fit the standard Highlander flashback style. The story is a little outlandish, saying that MacLeod, Ramirez and Katana are from very far in the past and were banished to the future. By no means a great movie, but definitely far, far better than the original version. As for Endgame, watch the Producer's Cut. It has a lot of scenes cut out of the American theatrical release, including more stuff with Joe Dawson and a totally different ending. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't focus enough on Duncan...it's supposed to be a passing of the torch movie, but a lot of it still focuses on Connor. Instead of being the main character, Duncan is sort of in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets caught up in Connor's mess.
  15. There is no dub for GitS 2. Unlike the first movie which was released by Manga and the TV series by Bandai/Manga, Innocence is being released by Dreamworks under their "Go Fish" label for anime releases. The only other release they've done so far is Millennium Actress, which also has no dub. I guess they treat the anime movies that they release like live action foreign cinema, much of which you don't see having English dubs on them.
  16. I don't think so, but we don't know enough about VPS yet. If you look at the other stolen ZAFT Gundams, along with Freedom, Justice and Providence, we can see that ZAFT never acquired the Alliance's Trans Phase Armor, which activates Phase Shift only on impact to preserve energy. I'm assuming that at some point we'll see some new Alliance Gundams, so they'd probably have some other improved PS armor.
  17. I'm guessing this will go as far as the proposed live action Macross movie from so long ago. Done the right way by a serious director with a good script, Gundam could be a great live action movie. But that's in a perfect world without Hollywood's pandering to the masses and Bandai's whoring of model kits. Realistically, I think Gundam after G-Saviour will remain in the anime realm. On a brief note...in regards to the post about G-Saviour's mecha designs, they were actually created by veteran designer Kunio Okawara. If you look at the lineart versions of the G-Saviour, it has all his standard Gundam design elements.
  18. Okawara mentioned at a recent event that he had already finished all the mobile suit designs for the first half of the series and was already working on the second half, including Shinn's mid-series upgrade, which may be called Destiny Gundam.
  19. On the issue of Flay: She definitely is not related to Mu and Rau. The voice actor for George Alster and Rau was the same person. Since she had so many issues regarding her dead papa, she'd of course have some bizarre attachment to Rau since he sounds like her father. If you watch the dub, you'll notice that George and Rau are also played by the same person in anticipation of that event. As for Rey/Rau/Neo/Mu: If you listen closely, you'll notice that Rey's voice actor is the same as Rau's, only sounding a bit younger. There's a recent pic from the SEED special edition showing unmasked Rau, and the resemblance to Rey is quite strong. Of course, Neo's voice actor is also the same as Mu's, so take that as you will. There's also the matter of Rey's Newtype flashes when Neo is nearby, but who can say at this point? Maybe all Newtypes in SEED are blonde guys, masked guys, or blonde masked guys. Maybe Rey is a Rau clone and Neo is Mu in disguise. We'll see soon enough.
  20. I thought it was a great movie, but the camerawork literally made me sick throughout the whole time and even afterwards. Only other time that ever happened to me was with Blair Witch.
  21. LOL. The exact same thought occurred to me. It would certainly go far in explaining his designs of the last ten years.
  22. The talk of bitch slapping this kid reminded me of this classic line from Penny Arcade: http://www.penny-arcade.com/redir.php?url=...be_wall_800.jpg I'd say smack the little fiend.
  23. You'll forgive me if I don't show much concern for your situation. In this world you have to pay for most things if you want them. Please don't do things like buying HK bootlegs. It's worth the money to pay AnimEigo for their restoration work and high quality release of the series. I saved up my own money and put down $250 to get the complete box set when it came out about 3 years ago. If you take the time to search online, you can get each of the 3-disc box sets for around $50, so there's no need to go on about the high price of things.
  24. You must be thinking of the Xbox game. The movie is a sequel to Pitch Black, not a prequel. It's also not as good as Pitch Black was.
  25. Actually, he made Gladiator before Hannibal. He was offered the chance to direct Hannibal based on the success of Gladiator.
