  1. Ah yes, this movie was one of my favorites when I was a kid! It's finally great to see that this movie is coming out on DVD. I can't wait! A little bit of warning to those who may find it already for sale on Amazon or what have you: Blue Underground is the official licensee of The Final Countdown. Another company, Triumph Marketing, has a version which is rather crappy under the label Pacific Family Entertainment. It is a bootleg. This last bit of info comes from a letter posted to DVD Talk. Now if I could just get a DVD of the movies Convoy and TerrorVision my life will be complete...
  2. Anime has been and will always be my passion, no matter how many idiots there are out there who suddenly find themselves infatuated with it, then suddenly grow bored with it. It is just a fad with these people, and we true fans who actually enjoy the artform will continue to enjoy it until we drop dead of old age. Now, you can begin to question me on "What the hell is he blabbering about?"
  3. I just realized there was another really bad movie that I just enjoy watching. Watched it today as a matter of fact. Anyone ever see Def-Con 4? You know, that end of the world movie about the satellite armed with nukes that is brought back to Earth and the astronauts are caught by this band of thugs led by this kid? Really cheezy, but I like it! And how could I or any of your out there have forgotten The Toxic Avenger? Very bad, but oh so good to watch! And although it isn't classified as sci-fi, I also happen to like that incredibly bad movie I Spit On Your Grave.
  4. Happy 2004 to all of you! May you get everything you ask for in the coming year. I would like to see these come to pass: Hopefully Harmony Gold will sink down into a sewer never to be heard from again. Hopefully we'll finally get a DVD version of Gunbuster (I hope to God from someone other than Mangle). Hopefully we'll get more legitimate Macross items here in the U.S. Hopefully we get a lot of really good anime titles here this year. Hopefully I finally get my credit straightened out so I can buy that house I want. And God, please ask my girlfriend to stop nagging me about marriage. That's a lot of hopefully's eh?
  5. Christ! I really wish I could build something like that that damned good, but I stink at model building. I think I'm going to crawl into a hole now...
  6. Man, I wanna member title under my name... I feel so left out. What do I have to do to someone to get one? I know I don't post often, but I visit everyday and I don't start trouble. Maybe I should?
  7. It doesn't count as a television show, but I kind of liked Princess Blade. Call me weird, but it's live action, and I don't see much live action Japanese film...
  8. Dude, Zeiram rocked! I also liked its inferior sequel, Zeiram 2.
  9. Christ! There are so many bad movies in which I love! Here are a few: Disney's The Black Hole Soldier Battle Beyond The Stars Krull Lifeforce Yeah, some people already mentioned a few of these, but I love them also!
  10. This is oh so true. When they ship the item, it gets here in no time. But I've noticed that whenever I order something, they have some holiday or some vacation thing going on where they can't ship right away. I ordered a few models from them in August and they had me waiting because of some local event going on. It was about a week before they shipped them.
  11. Yep, I'd rather pay the higher price and go with EMS also.
  12. I just finished watching it this afternoon. This epic 9 hour miniseries from 1980 just hit the shelves a month or so ago on DVD. I vaguely remember watching it as a kid, and I remember the book even less although I read it many years later in 1986 while overseas. I was glad to see that it had finally been released in an unedited form on DVD as it had never been done on VHS, save for the exception of a very hard to find and very expensive boxed set. I found myself rather enjoying this series, even though there were some pretty cheesy parts and that 1/4 of the epic was in Japanese with no subtitles. You would have figured that with the subtitles option on DVD's the producers could have included translations, but I guess they wanted you to feel like the main character was feeling. Lost in a land where no one spoke your language. And the fact that Lady Mariko had to constantly tell Blackthorne why so and so died or committed suicide after she had told him 50 other times was kind of annoying. What are your opinions on this series? Are there any other fans of this show? What did they get right, and what did they get wrong? (Other than Richard Chamberlain, of course! ) By the way, Yoko Shimada, who plays Lady Mariko was also in that laughable movie The Hunted with Christopher Lambert. She played that samurai dude's wife who got stuck with an arrow toward the end of the movie. She's still looking pretty good.
  13. What I want to know is what the hell is that thing behind Misa just to her right? It kind of looks like Hikaru has his own personal ATM machine in his quarters.
  14. I voted for Rudolph, but I wished you had included Mad TV's Raging Rudolph. God, I loved that... Merry Christmas!
  15. I don't see Janice Em in there anywhere. She has pink hair if I remember right. I have no way to check to see if I am correct because I used my Sentinels disc as a practice clay pigeon.
  16. Yeah, yeah, the Marines are a department of the Navy, the mens' department! Or so the saying goes. And for those of you kind enough to remind me, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman has a special message for you (Do not take offense; this is a joke). As for corpsmen stationed with infantry units, I do not consider any of them to be squids. They are as hard charging as any grunt who has served in a frontline unit. And you'll find that any grunt will treat a corpsman in the field differently than the normal Navy boys he runs into. So, in closing, I'd like to say "Semper Fi" to all of my brothers who served in our glorious Corps. Oorah!! By the way, USMC can also stand for: U Suckers Missed Christmas U Start Mountain Climbing (Any Marine will know what I'm talking about here)
  17. I was in the US Marine Corps, which of course I see you do not have listed in this poll. How could you have omitted the finest military force the USA has? I was an 0311 infantryman who was the automatic rifleman in his fire team. I carried the M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon). I eventually became squad leader before i got out.
  18. Yeah, it figures that I would probably get the name wrong. I could swear that's Mimsy, because the uniform coloring and her brown hair and green eyes are the same. But then again, I've never seen the original Japanese language version. I've only seen the first half of the series in English, and that was horribly done by US Renditions. And it was quite a while ago.
  19. I was looking through the cel collection they have over at Mandarake and came across this cel under the heading ROBOTECH. Now, if I didn't know any better, I'd swear this was Mimsy (spelling?) from Orguss. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
  20. I just got home from seeing it tonight. I like it. I thought it was a really good movie. And that is my two cents worth.
  21. Don't you just love the size of those things? I do! However, I decided not to go with an anime related calendar this year, but with a race queen calendar. Sorry about the quality, but I didn't want the flash glaring the picture. Can you guess who it is? Hint hint, check my sig! One other thing, if you guys have never been over to J-List's website, they sell hundreds of these things if you have the patience to look through them all. That's where I got my present calendar and the Evangelion one from last year.
  22. I've only played three games on my PS2 all year. Tomb Raider - Angel of Darkness Final Fantasy X Bloodrayne Out of the three, I'd have to say that Bloodrayne was my favorite of them all. There's just something about being a bloodthirsty, foul mouthed vampire going around shooting and slicing things to pieces. The bad thing about it though was that I loved her voice, but when I saw what her voice actor looked like I wanted to crucify myself... Now only if I can get her to straddle me like she is doing to that Nazi (Without the violent implications of course)...
  23. Well, this is downright disturbing all right. Now, how do they compare with the nutcakes in the movie Trekkies?
  24. The original show's opening theme song was not written by John Williams, but by Glen Larson and Stu Phillips. By the way, I disliked the new movie.
  25. Have you seen that movie of hers called Freeway? She gave poor white trash a new name with that movie.
