WORST Sci-Fi TV series of all time.....
CoryHolmes replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The first season of EFC was decent enough. It was nicely serialized, had an interesting take on the alien resistance, main characters who didn't always get along. As soon as the first re-tool hit, I exited stage left. Dammit, I liked Boone- 279 replies

I 'unno about that. I've kinda enjoyed the GI Joe vs Transformers comics from both Dreamwave and IDW. Plus you can't go wrong with Shattered Glass

Evangelion 2.0: You can (Not) Advance
CoryHolmes replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This is not going to surprise anyone, but I call crap on this. Yeah, you heard me: crap! More spins? I'm outta here. But on the plus, I'm glad they're going back to Asuka's orginal plugsuit. I hated the reimagined version with a passion. -

Because I like the thrill of the hunt. The stalking of toys on the open shelves, the slight crinkling of the cardboard as I pick it up, staring at their innards through the trasparent window..

That's just it, though. ME is a role-playing game, not roll-playing. Big difference.

I hate you just as much as I hate the other Rodi holders in this thread. I went to a Burnaby TRU, which was naturally sold out. But they did have an opened figure that had been returned. I've seen the same videosyou have but I didn't think he was that BIG robot mode. And slender, too. Hard to believe that there's a car in that robot...

Oh gag and vomit. I thought the batmobile was stretching the boundries of Nolan's hyper-realistic take on the franchise but this breaks the suspension of disbelief he's been able to weave thus far. While I hesitate to pull the Ruined FOREVERalarm just yet, my hand is itching ever closer to the handle...

I thought the Nazi superscience was way over the top... until I started reading up on some of the stuff that got proposed (and built!) like the Ho229 and it's bigger brother, the Ho18. I guess this was another case of reality is unrealisitc (ack! TVTropes reference! must... stay... away...). Along those same lines, I thought that watching the Mooks struggle with the sarcophagus coverstone and then the Red Skull easily shoving it open was over-the-top rediculous... until I realized (much later) that this was first proof that he'd taken the Super Soldier serum. *smacks hand* Bad Cory!

I feel that both Nicholson and Ledger gave very compelling, yet different, views of the same character. Nicholson brought us the Clown Prince of Crime, a person who brings a focus to his criminal activities yet is completely insane enough to gas the entire city population for lulz. Ledger brought us the Joker as a force of nature, a complete anarchist whom exists only to bring chaos and misery to the world. Don't forget that Mark Hamill's take on the Joker is equally as valid; the joking trickster who matches Batman step for step.

3.2.1. Contact for the win! *fistbump* I still have very vivid memories of their skit to explain subtraction. The youngest kid was trying to weigh the dog, who was totally not cooperation with sitting nicely on the scale, when the older one told him to weigh himself, weigh himself carrying the dog, and then subtract the former from the latter. I also remember them explaining the pully effect, using multiple pullys to let the youngest lift up the oldest kid. And then there was the Bloodhound Gang shorts at the end of each episode... For what it's worth, I'm into Naked Science on DiscoveryHD. I think it's awesome but the title is extremely misleading. I feel it should be hosted by my latest crush, Olivia Wilde in the aforementioned naked state. Though I might not learn much if that were the case...

There's a lot about this film that is unDisney-like, from the almost shocking violence (how many Disney films show people, even mooks, getting shot in the face and leaking out gibs?) to the aforementioned soundtrack. That only made this film that much better. One of my earlier complaints was that there wasn't enough exposition, and I'd focused on the games as a prime example. Why do the games exist? Why do the resident programs cheer on the gladiators despite not wanting to become one? I got thinking about this and decided that when Flynn made the Grid and all its base code, he was still the overachieving ego maniac who hadn't grown out of his teen years. He prided himself on his game playing ability and that ego carried over to when he started playing God. What better way to play games, and make newer and better games, then by playing them on the Grid? So his Egoness programmed the Grid and its programs to play games for his own amusement and when Clu took over, he made the games into something more sinister as yet another middle-finger to Flynn. So yay or nay?

So I just watched this on Blu-Ray. I have to say, I enjoyed this go-around much more than my first time. One thing I noticed now is how awesome the music is; it's perfectly atmospheric and uses just enough bass to be in the backgound without over-the-top bombasticness. The plot was much easier to follow, the VFX came together better... basically, this is a movie that I'm now quite pleased with and want to watch again, and again, and again...

Actually, I'm not. I hate that version of Catwoman, since she looks likes a refugee from DOA or Soul Caliber. And this isn't a good thing. I'm so against that version of her costume that I swore off of Archam City because of Catwoman's trailer; what with the slowly rendered shots of her ass as she wiggles up to combat...

I'm afraid to ask, but what trailer?
