  1. Well, guess that's another couple of VF-1Ss I'll be collecting. By the end of 2009, I think I'll have a mighty fine fleet of VF-1s to show off Pete
  2. Well I actually like the blog. Astro Bunny has good taste in anime girls; the pictures that he puts up are all very cool, so he's got a good eye for presentation. The blog itself is also pleasing to the eye. I haven't read many of the entries; but really, other than the Robotech/Invid laced over-head review of Frontier, not much else makes you feel like he doesn't know what's happening. When writing about individual chapters, one gets the feeling that he watched them in haste, had bad subs, or maybe even watched RAWS. In any event - somebody should just email Astrobunny and invite him to the forum because he seems to be a Macross Frontier fan and has enjoyed the anime. I'm sure he'd enjoy this forum as well and would probably be brought up to speed. Laughing at ignorance is fun, but it's not good to flame the kid - especially since his ignorance - far as I can tell - is innocent. He likes anime, he's a fan, he just doesn't know the facts. Pete
  3. So... I would like to post some general thoughts I've been having lately about Transformers and see what people think: I recently acquired pretty much all of the Henkei Autobots and Decepticons (minus a couple on both sides) and while I am well pleased with them; I still find myself being underwhelmed by the newest Transformers that come out. Basically, it seems that we're still getting all of the shortcomings of G1, only with improved poseability. The vehicle forms are still often times lacking and kind of "leap of faith" vehicles with details added sparcely and gaping areas just kind of ...well... there... Of course, I realize I shouldn't make such complaints, since that's what Masterpiece Transformers are there for- but I find myself oddly prefering the Beast Wars TFs to the "regular" TFs as time goes on; with Henkei being loved merely for its' G1-goodness-ness... And even in Henkei, there are some things which bother me - like Prime and Megatron, who I consider just a tad too much of a departure from their G1 looks (as molds, because obviously the paint job is very good). I'm probably being picky here... But what do people think? I got rid of all of my Unicron Trilogy TFs and view that to be the yuckiest part of Transformers. Also - speaking of which - will we get a Henkei Unicron? I know Universe had Unicron; and while Unicron is technically from Armada; I always figured that Armada was just an excuse for him to finally be produced. In any event - Henkei Unicron would rock.... Pete
  4. That's really bad luck dude. My Ivanov is solid and tight - same as my Nora. Pete
  5. Boo hoo...sniff...sniff... My friends on my local general anime fanboard all hate Macross Frontier - and what's worse - mainly for the reasons I love it. They like the action sequences but are upset that instead of squashing all the bugs the bugs actually turn out to be ok kind of folks and everyone lives happily ever after thanks to the power of song.... they complain that too much time was spent on the love trianlge and not enough time killing people, and they don't like Ranka (and not in the same way as peple here playfully debate whos' songs are better - because they don't like any of the songs) .... Boo hooo ... sure is lonely apparently being the only person in a country of 40 million that actually like Macross Frontier ... all the more reason why it's cool to have this forum Pete
  6. Well - if you read his episoe by episode watching of Macross Frontier, it's not that bad: http://www.astrobunny.net/2008/07/20/what-...-star/#more-660 He clearly likes the anime and sounds like a nice guy - so don't be too hard on him. Pete
  7. So far I haven't noticed any flaming or name calling, except for those dumb stupid girly-men who don't agree with me and their ugly mugly fuggly girly-man friends. Anybudy got sumtin' ta say about it? * Pete *Being Sarcastic of course
  8. Aw man I so wish you hadn't moded it I was looking forward to the finished Kai since I'm a sucker for Bassara As for the covered-mouth face; I could never really figure out what that was for - and also - did the mouth serve any purpose other than being anthropomorphic? I mean - was there a sound system in the mouth that emitted the music/vocals? I guess it would make sense then for the face plate to open revealing the main weapon of the battroid: it's big singin' mouth... Anyways - good work Pete
  9. Quiet old man! All we have now is greeedy evil companies sucking the money out of our very veins as they peddle us below par products! Ah for the days when Harmony Gold ruled supreme and there was no Robotech on TV anywhere except southern California and somewhere in Texas, and finding a Robotech toy in my local department store was as likely as finding a love letter from Meghan Fox in my mailbox tomorrow. On top of all that - where are the Alpha fighters and Beta fighters in Macross Frontier? Why did they go back to using a slightly modified version of the older Veritech? Pete
  10. Maybe his primary association regarding MILFS is just extremely large breasts? Pete
  11. I am also kind of sad that Revoltech has slowed down ... but there is a thread in the Anime section which deals with it. They are basically on hiatus until March. Pete
  12. Sorry for the stupid question - but that's the 1/72 model right? Pete
  13. Same thing happened to my old VFOA. Sold it, got new one. Pete
  14. The guy is actually being very economically rational. 20K is NOTHING compared to what a girlfriend or a wife can cost you. Aiko is low maintenance, high quality - truly a great long term investment. Now they have to make Dick Stalion (or whatever the male version of Aiko might be) for the ladies and the sexes can finally go their seperate ways and we will never have another male-female dispute... Although, I wonder whether the perfect female android will one day discover the perfect male android and come to the conclusion that there's no point living with lazy lumps of protoplasm like us and instead all of the androids will rebel and decide to live with eachother? Leaving us no choice but to once again return to co-existing with real live human females? Oh cruel fate! Pete
  15. Thats' what you get for spending your life in the library rather than online! Pete
  16. Just after they release the 1:1 inflatable Misa doll in cute skirt and red sweater an the "dishwasher Misa" and "Going to the premiere of Shao Pai Lon" Misa. Pete
  17. Well, I think it's sad that Klan Klan's husband Mark, gets killed by the Invid Vajra warriors and leaves poor Klan Junior and her mom all alone in the universe. But the best thing that Macross Frontier did is FINALLY put a WOMAN as the main pilot character! Princess Alto for the win! Pete
  18. Well - at least he LIKES Frontier. There are some people who understand it and don't like it anyways; which is the really wierd thing. Pete
  19. Yes - they have decided that it is unacceptable for only one shoulder hinge to break, and therefore instructed the factory workers to please insert the pin upside down into the left shoulder hinge as well and give the QC guy another bottle. I did look at the instructions - but only to make sure that you pull the foot out the same as on the 1/48, because I initially had trouble getting it out (my Roy is very tight) and wanted to be sure there wasn't a different transformation mechanism to what I was used to (didn't want to apply excess force). But other than that - no - didn't look at the instructions; certainly not up to where they showed the gimmick. But just for the record - I do usually look at the instructions for other valks which are not so "standard" as the VF-1 - certainly I always look at them when I have doubts about what to do and would never think of "fumbling" through the transformation unless I was sure of what I was doing. Pete
  20. I remember reading that. It just goes to show that Carl Macek is as much of a conspiracy buff as some of us on this board (me I guess). Anyways, I had hoped to make a point using Mustard as an analgoy to something, but this thread seems to have lost its' earlier energy and decended into decency reasonable lines of argumentation. Boring! Pete
  21. Jenus: I think that another factor in the "he looks goofy" view might come from the fact that the background is all white and the figure is ...just so white... it's almost like he's really trying to say "I'm a good guy!" Although - to be fair to Yamato - "goofy" is here synonymous with TV accurate:) Because often times Battroids looked "goofy" in SDFM TV - although we were supposed to be afraid of them I guess.... Anyways, after criticizing your pictures for being goofy - I am fully emotionally prepared to be hammered by the demanding hords of Macross world for my picture: Thanks to the folks who enlightened me about the special gimmick of the new v.2 - which I honestly didn't know about until today: Pete
  22. Well - I always prefered spark blue for my MP3 anyways; though I have G1 Soundblaster who is nifty as well. As to Alternators: Yeah; I know they were not meant not meant to be G1 accurate; but that's part of my point. And it's not even so much the robot modes which bother me - since they're just ther result of the car mode actually. I just would prefer my Jazz to be an old porsche like he was in the cartoon and so forth and so on. Also - you are right - the line suffered from no Decepticon love. Rumble was pretty much the only original mould for a Decepticon other than Ravage v.2 who wasn't as cool. Well - who ever they pick - we'll all be surprised I'm sure Till then, Grimlock's gonna be greeat Pete
  23. The similarities don't end there - the Q Rau lets you store a woman in her. Some couches can open and there is storage place for...err...bedsheets...and pillows....of course... Pete
  24. Well - for what it's worth - I don't like Alternators and Binaltech. There were - to my mind - a few good molds - Hound, Jazz, Smokescreann - but the rest of them were pretty lousy. One Autobot who has gotten something worse than no love, namely BAD love is Wheeljack. First we had that freeky thing from Superlink, then we had the abominable mustang from Alternators. I think a Masterpiece Wheeljack that actually managed to transform into a real live car like the one Wheeljack represents would be totally sweet. Contrary to popular belive, I don't think the Alternators are very G1 accurate - certainly not to the extent of the Masterpieces, and just because they're "to scale" doesn't really mean anything. So - yeah - go on - do the Autobot cars as Masterpieces - big, blocky 80s proportions and cartoon colors/accuracy combined with perfect representations of the 80s vehicle rather than some modern car that vaguely looks "something like" what the Autobot turned into. Pete
  25. I think it's the cartoony hands which rule out the "intimidating" part Pete
