That's not true! Anime always abides by physical reality and all anime artists are trained in physics, biology and chemistry adn the scripts are written by nobel prize winning scientists who are on the cutting edge of modern science. The nose cone has a quadro-nano-tech based reference shield frame modifier set at the thermal ionization pulse rate of 0.002, which allows it to seem shorted in pattroid mode and this process can in fact be replicated by the application of CAD 7 technology. Also the big hands come out of the tiny arms because they are multi-layered prong metal technology with mineral insertions of quart zero nexus plutonium fossiles. So I would recomend that you maybe read up a little bit before criticizing us for wanting a LITTLE bit of accuracy for such high priced figures. Tens of thousands of dollars? Puleese! The modern mass uber-tech production system, the use of "roundclock" B-7 workdrones and the advent of CAD 7 (mentioned above) have cut the working time in half. Six monkeys and a basset hound dog could make a Valkyrie Yamato mold for 25 cents. Instead of being so evil and greedy, Yamato should lower their prices to 1 USD per 1/60 VF-1 -that way the sales would go up and they could actually have more money - but that's called being smart instead of greedy. Also - as long as there are people like you out there willing to compromise and buy these so called "perfect transformation" figures - that is pay oodles of money just for hype instead of quality - then Yamato will never change and we'll never get the perfect Valkyrie - the posession of which is after all the purpose of life on Earth! So there. Pete

I disagree. The consumer is a business that sells money. Pete

I'm probably gonna get the Kotobukidfigjsdfiogjfsdiog gffffffffffff can never remember how to spell that company's name...Koo...kkoo...rerrr... The models The snap fit models Anyways - I couldn't resist, and even though I still don't have episode 1...I watched episode 2 anyways MUCH BETTER than episode 6 which was veeerrry childish and sorta hectic. This one actually had a very good story ark from beginning to end - with the ending explcitly tying back into the beginning in a big way. I love the dynamic between Simon and his big brother. And I like how big brother Kamina always tries to give Simon confidence - Kamina WOULD be just a loud mouth jerk off poser if not for three facts: 1) He's very compassionate and takes care of his brother - but not just in the sense of "stay here little boy I'll protect you" - but rather - in the sense that a big brother should: he provides guidance and teaching and tries to help Simon become a man. 2) He's intelligent. He tells Simon not to go rushing into a fight. Often times, he "seems" to be going berserk, but in fact he thinks out his actions and his tough words are more along the lines of psychological warfare than insanity. 3) He has ambitions and is clearly a thoughtful person (although it's not quite clear what he's thinking about when he shrugs at death and tells Yoko that people are destined for more)... So - all of these traits make him likeable. As for Yoko - well - it's hard to not like her Or rather - hard if you like her; hard if you don't Finally - that Ron guy is just so hilariously animated Sorry - don't mean to inflict the ire of Agent One or anything of the sort - but Ron is not only explicitly homosexual, but in fact it is obvious that the animators went to outlandish lengths to think up an entire new animation style with which to underscore this point. The elastic fingers is case in point here - I'm not talking about the character design; which is actually pretty simlistic and a bit too flamboyant (Bobby would soooo say that Ron has bad taste!) - I'm talking about he actual movements of the character as opposed to the movements of other characters. Top marks for the animators for their gay animation One thing I don't like and don't get is why none of the people seem to be wondering at WHY the Beastmen attack the humans. Why are they fighting? In this sense - the show is kind of like a video game where you're not supposed to wonder that and instead just bust up the baddies - and hopefully be cute while doing it. But nevertheless - I'm surprised that for all of their worldly knowledge (calmly eating breakfast and drinking coffee as Gunmen stomp around up on the surface), Yoko's ...err...tribe?...village? ...people? ... haven't the faintest clue or even interest in who the Beastmen are and why they do what they do? What's more - the Beastmen seem to know pretty well who the humans are and seem to authentically NOT LIKE them. In fact; the Beastmen also seem to be fully sentient (so we can rule out the "they attack because they're beasts!" theory). So - this kind of bugs me. In fact, the only thing which makes me distinguish between good and evil in this anime is that good has a great body and bouncy breasts Pete

No no...I meant a Gurren Lagann FIGURE collection Models and Revoltechs and stuff like that As for Yoko and Enki - I also have both. Amd just now finishing getting episode 1 of Toppa Tenga... I kind went wierdo backwards and have 2 now - but will watch first 1 and then 2 and onward from there Pete

So awesome! Although the Arcadia kind of ruins it. He should have found something else to go there... Still - a great paint job and my prefered look for the ship. Pete

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
VFTF1 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I hate to rain on everybody's parade (including my own) - but my sources say it will be released in late January 2009 and that Bandai has not announced any exact release date. I would be very happy to be proven wrong. Pete -
I hope that one day I have enough Valkyrie and can get around to buying stands for all the fracking ones that Yamato didn't pack with stands... Will this come with stands? I HATE the lack of stands in the box. I hate it more than the lack of fastpacks even. Sorry for sort of randomly bringing this issue up here - but I had hoped with the SV-51 having a stand and the YF-21 as well that maybe it was going to be...er...pardon the pun...standard practice now... but then the VF-1 v.2 doesn't come with a stand ... will this? Or does Yamato only include a stand if the design of the battroid entails that it will be..hard...to..err...stand up on its' own? EDIT: Hey - that picture shows the whole cockpit is removable along with the pilot...does that mean that it's not perfect transformation and that we're going to just pop out the cockpit and put in the orange heat shield ? Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
VFTF1 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
That is terrible. I would get a divorce. After reading that I'm gonna stop complaining My ex-girlfriend once told me that she wanted me to sell my collection to buy her a wedding dress. Guess what happened to her? My current girlfriend offered to take me to a Woody Allen concert for Christmas, and I told her that I would rather she came with me to a comics store and got me some Gundam manga, or maybe a neato figure or something and she said ok So...she's not that bad - actually I think she rocks all things considered The jealousy was cute - and it's not like she told me to stop collecting or something. Besides; she wore a hat like Sheryl's (she's also blond - albeit dark blond) and had me take her picture and put that on my cell phone as wallpaper So - she's quite playful about it... I wonder sometimes if the reasons she was so aghast at the Ranka wallpaper was because she - being blond - could stand me liking Sheryl (another blond) but Ranka was so "different" that it scared her? Same with Tohsaka Rhin (brunette after all). I dunno In any event - hopefully one day I'll get a chance to show her Macross Frontier. For now, I've pretty much convinced her to give NGE a chance - we'll see how much that works. Pete -
Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
VFTF1 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
So maybe the Emperor is a big Macross Frontier fan, and Bandai just gave him Ozma for an early birthday present - and now he's posting pics on the internet being like "nya nya look what I got" ? Pete -
Isn't that the same as love? Pete

Actually - what would be the crowning glory of the VF-1 1/60 v.2 would be if Yamato released the VF-1S Minmey Gaurd. JUST DO IT YAMATO And then give us the Minmey Gaurd Brigade with a 1/60 Monster (Minmey Gaurd color scheme/decos) and Destroids (also Minmey Gaurd)... And while I'm on the subject of fantasy wish list... 1/60 Cats Eye please With lovely Misa, and two pilots: one alive and then an optional "cracked canopy" with slouched over dead pilot Pete

I will be doing just that. Am also starting a Gurren Lagann collection Hopefully I'll have watched episodes 1 and 2 by tomorrow, and then onward - consecutively. I just watched 6 because I couldn't find 1-5 and wanted to get a flavor for it. I think I was lucky given that half of six is a recap of 1-5 - which normally would have probably bored me - but this way I actually ended up benefiting from the recap. I also LOVED the fact that Asuka and Rei are now playboy bunnies working at the Beastmen's Spa Anyways - yeah - just finished NGE today and am going to make Gurren Lagenn my next "too watch" anime - from start to finish. I was hoping to finally get around to Ideon - but if there's modern good stuff coming out - and there is - I figure I best be on top of things - and Gurren Lagann looked like it would be good. Pete
-
If you're right - then hopefully it's because we'll be getting a "Virgin Road" Max 1A with wedding dress Milia Pete
-
What can I say dude.... I bow before you in awe. Pete
-
Hmm... you know - I think I'm going to skip the 1S Max. I'm an SDFM TV fan and haven't really watched DYRL close enough and don't find myself longing for one. In fact - I would love it if there was a TV Max 1A with Zendradi Officer's coat so I could dress up his Gerwalk mode As for the 1D - beautiful. Lovely. Want Pete

The argument regarding the consumer not caring about costs and just wanting the best value for the cheapest price is correct. But I ask you this: Where do you see other companies producing stuff as great as what Yamato has given us in terms of Macross Valkyrie? Yamato have even surpassed SHE and are giving us the stuff at lower prices than SHE. So yes - of course - if there were another company producing something as awesome as the 1/60 VF-1 v.2 or the 1/60 YF-21 or the Ivanov etc - and selling them for 20 bucks a pop - you bet I'd be buying those instead of Yamatos. But the fact is - there isn't. And it's not even because Yamato has a monopoly or exclusive rights to the license (note that there are others producing Valkyrie). It's only because Yamato has managed to do what others couldn't. This is why their products are commanding such a high price. Pete
-
Glad to see Gurren Lagann seems to be getting as much love as Street Fighter. I was also feeling like e nerdy ferdy loony, because I seriously am not into Street Fighter - and what's worse, almost all of the girls beyond Yoko and the NGE Frauleins (and Revy) have just not been up my ally... But I am still holding out for Revoltech Macross Frontier AT LEAST (although SDFM would be better).... is the stuff we like really that unpopular? Pete
-
Are we sure it's the production staff? After all - later the same "narrative words" answer many of Shinji's questions - and Rei's and Asuka's - as if the narrative words were the people themselves (as if Shinji was asking himself and then listening to the answer). I think the narrative might have been some kind of sub-consciousness generated by the process of merging all human souls..? Pete
-
Ok - I watched episode 26 now - and one thing has stuck out. In this thread, Kieth gave some pretty logical reasons as to why the choice fell to Shinji. So... My question is this: Who is the "narrator" in Episode 25? The literal narrator - meaning who is/are the ...words... Because the words say that the only reason Shinji is choosing is because there is no time to focus on everyone else... This suggests that each person was given the same choice as Shinji and had to go through the same psychological or psycho-analytical path as him. Does this mean that some people might have chosen to remain with Instrumentality? Pete

Macross variable fighter/mecha pose thread
VFTF1 replied to Wicked Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The Yamato figure actually looks better than the illustration That's cool Pete -
In SDFM TV we get an inside view of Hikaru's 1D - and the chair(s) even move out when he's standing outside of Minmey's house. He's clearly sitting forward. Only the 1/60 VF-Zeros and the 1/60 YF-21 have the chair swivel feature built into them. In fact, the YF-21 has a kind of "auto-transformation" feature for it which is quite cool. Doing it with the VF-1s is unpractical given their very smal size apparently. Pete

My first inclination was to think of a hot spa with her and Kaji - and Misato. And she would likely has Misato there just to show her that Kaji prefers Asuka. "See - stupid Misato! Kaji wants a real woman like me! With good development and no physical and mental deformities! Kaji thinks I'm the best! Kaji says you don't even come close!" But then - I imagine that slowly but surely, Kaji will start to treat Asuka "like any other chick" - kind of like Asuka's father gave Asuka's mother the impression that he had more important things in life than her. This would ultimately lead to Asuka having suicidal thoughts as Kaji morphedi into her father - all while Misato was watching. Now Misato and Asuka's roles would be reversed. Misato: Hah! Stupid Asuka! All men use you and then leave you for something more important! You were silly and childish to think that it would be different with Kaji! That's why Kaji loves me and only me - because I don't make so much demands on him! You are one big walking demand on humanity - you demand people's time, recognition, love, affection - without them you're nothing! In fact...you're just like... *Shinji suddenly appears* "Shinji Baka?!" Shinji: Yes. We are the same - you and I. We both need people and wait for them to notice us - or at least I wait, but you tug at them until they acknowledge you. I remember when Misato asked me at one point "what's wrong?" and I answered her "nothing." And she said - "Shinji - do you know that when you say 'nothing' in that tone of voice - then you are actually asking people to notice you?" Well Asuka - you do not say 'nothing' - you say "Nothing is wrong! Everything is right! I'm the best! I'll fix whatever you think is wrong, I, I I!..." but it's the same as my "nothing" - it's a way for you to demand that people notice you. This is why - you and I are the same." Asuka: No! Shinji: And this is why we never noticed eachother - even though we share so much. Asuka: Shinji Baka! Everything you say is stupid! .... And in my mind - I would imagine that at this point Shinji would realize that for the first time in his life, he actually loves a girl Namely Asuka. Because Asuka shows him a different - distinctly female way of dealing with his inner problems (which she shares). They would actually be the perfect couple. Pete

Just a quick note - but that goregeous Yoko who's doing her hair seems to be from a company called Gift - or is that not a company but just some kind of sub-heading or series from Good Smily? EDIT: Just watched my first episode of TTGL - episode 6...what have you punks/bastards got us into? Impressions: WOW! What a craaaazy zany funny fast paced wacko anime And what shoddy animation at episode 6 already Gainax seems to have made "NGE low budget version" into a policy? But actually - I shouldn't complain. At times the animation is a bit rough; at times it's just "too fast" - but either way it's fun Lots of fan service with yoko, but that guy being naked throughout the majority of the episode was hilarious as well A very very wierd mixture of "realism" with "fantasy" with...excess... My first impression can basically be summed up as: Yoko is hot - so I'll keep watching Pete
