  1. Personally I can't stand dubs - but that might be because I just can't stand Macross Plus dubbed - which is unfortunately what I have. The voice acting is just all around too mellow. Every character sounds the same - namely as if they were reading for ESL students or something - it's all unemtional slow mo... Maybe not all dubs are like this - but I just generally prefer watching movies in the original language. This doesn't just go for anime but for other films as well. Subtitles FTW Pete
  2. Actually, Ali G is from Staines in the You K - that's Union Kingsdum or sum'tin. And if yous be followin' the telly then theys been sayin 2 million Polish people been comin to the You K in the past like five days or centuries or whatever. Borat be from Kazahastan Also - pistacho nuts induce hallucinations that incline people towards talking like Ali G. It's a proven fact. Word! Pete
  3. Buyakasha! Is an' All! Check it! For me Xmas presents, me Mums gots me this WICKED USB to stores all me Anime and porno honnys! BUYA! An' on top of dat, me Mums also got me a bowl of pistacho nuts! Me favrut! Gotta luv mums! Word! PS - Christmas presents in Poland are opened on the 24th, the night before Christmas, after a 12 course meal (dag am I full!). My girlfriend is having Christmas with her family; so I will be getting my Christmas present from her when we go to Berlin for New Years! Buyakasha! Pete
  4. It's posts like these that make me feel even more regret than usual that I went to college. What a frickin' waste of time! Only now do I realize how much important information is out there that I am TOTALLY in the dark about. Whereas everything I learned in college I could have learned taking a trip to the local library for four years. grumble grumble. Pete
  5. Looking good. Ugly pilot, ugly wheels. But still looking nice. Would love to see it next to a Yamato VF-1. Pete
  6. I have never read any of his books. But I saw the Blade Runner movie, and also managed to see a fantastic theatrical adaptation of Palmer Eldrich... Chew-zee...Cand-ee... Pete
  7. Or, failing that, you can get into your custom VF-Kai and go sing to them She probably did mention it; but it's very difficult to focus on anything she has to say Pete
  8. Fear not Miriya I just watched episode 1 now and it was the best of the three I've seen so far - had a very very epic feel to it - the conflict between Kamina and the Chief was well done, and I am always a big fan of seeing the politics of a society that is grappling with being closed off and how religions form around this... so - was a great episode. Yoko's appearance was a bit random - and it seems that it's never really explained in episode 2 why she of all people fell into their village with the Gunman - but - then again - one of the stupid things about being such a nerdy fellow is that I'm always looking for "explanations" when "accidents" by nature are things which have none So yeah - a hot chick fell into their lives because sometimes hot chicks do that - which is actually true. But overall - the animation in episodes 1 and 2 was very good compared to 6. Definitely sticking with it. Pete
  9. Well - maybe this is why the more expensive stuff isn't actually that much more expensive for me. "readily available from any Hobbytown USA" doesn't cut it for me when the nearest one is a couple thousands miles away Oh - and Wicked Ace - that VF-OS pose is...er...well wicked! Those are the stands that seem to me to be the best - are those Flexidisplays? And are they really stable? How do they manage to hold the figures like that? Seems if you tipped him - he'd fall over? Pete
  10. Yeah, me too. I have the version 1 1/60 VE-1 and the biggest problem is that everything that makes it cool (aka the dish on the back) is also full of major flop).... Having a honest to gosh v.2 VE-1 would be ultra gear ... same with VT.... although with the pictures of the 1D - I'm happy anyways. 1D is gonna be great. Also - correct me if I'm wrong- but this is the first to scale with Valkyrie Minmey figure we're getting, yes? And I am SOOOO happy that it's in TVdres... Although - will the VT therefore be DYRL based and also have Minmey - albeit wearing whatever it was she wore in DYRL? Pete
  11. Too late! I have already sent the picture to my mom at her factory in China and our imported orangotangs are belting out KOs as we speak! Mwahaha Pete
  12. Well - looking at the the pictures of Alto in Armor/Fast Packs I have to wonder something about Bandai's design of the DX vs. the models... It seems to me that the DXs ALL look much better in their fast packs/armor than naked. Could it be that the real problem necessitating some kind of compromise on the design was the fast packs? The 1/72 model won't have fastpacks so it could be sleaker - but if those fast packs for some reason necessitated bulkier frames for the DX...could this be why they look as they do? I do NOT want to start a "it's off by three cm/no it's not" argument - it's just that lots of people have complained about things being off, but then there seems to be a consensus that Luca and Mikhael (and I assume Alto?) look cool in their fastpacks? So..could there be something to this? pete
  13. What?! Are you some kind of Southern Gentleman or something!? Apologizing to another person on the internets is a no no! Hasn't anyone learnt you how to flame? Dag. Now we'll have to go back to talking about the VF-1 1/60 v.2 A,D,J,S and...hey.. for all the trouble that someone went to putting them in alphabetical order - isn't E missing? Or does E not get to be there since strictly speaking it's not "VF-1E" but rather "VE-1" ? Does that mean we'd be off topic discussing the possibility of a VE-1 here? Pete
  14. Yeah... I don't even have a tree up Gonna go outside and cut one down tomorrow (and before any of you city-dwelling nature lovers starts screamin' - my family have planted over 200 trees on our farm over the past ten years, and we traditionally cut one small one down to use as a Christmas tree every year). As for presents - I think my mom got me one of those little USBs with lots of Giga bytes on it. My girlfriend has promised to get me something anime/giant robot related on our trip to Berlin for New Years And I got myself The Groxier X chogokin from Yamato - but it'll probably arive in late January. And finally - my dog (a beagle), Oz, was BORN on December 25th - on Christmas day - so above all we'll have plenty of bones under the tree for him Merry Xmas and a happy new year and a happy non-dimmensional faith-neutral holiday to all the rest (and belated happy Hanuka) and happy whatever I missed And may Macrosswold live long and prosper! Pete
  15. Serpentor has red eyes because he's artificially produced by Dr. Mindbender. He's like Rei Ayanami and every other cartoon character with red eyes - a lab rat Pete
  16. HEY!! That belongs to my mom! Whered you get it!? I'm gunna sew you! Pete
  17. Well - I agree with Cent that the compromises they demand (at least judging by those pics of the 19) are too great. Pete
  18. Dude - don't make me start again. Go read up on CAD-7 technology before you go running your mouth off. My aunt has a factory in China where she has trained orangotangs imported from Burma to make Macross toys - so I DO know what I'm talking about. It does not cost tens of thousands of dollars to make a slight re-work of an existing mold. Look at how Hasbro remolds some of its' existing molds - do you think that costs them thousands? No - it's as simple as blowing your nose. And everyone knows how accurate to the cartoons Hasbro's molds are. You clearly are stuck in the past with your inferior knowledge of toy engineering technology. Yes - back in the dark days of the first half of the month of December 2007 it still costs as much as you say but then my mom and her sister (my aunt) made a fanstastical discovery which allowed them to reduce that cost and since then they've been working in China making Masterpiece Transformers and other high end goods for 10 cents per mold - PER MOLD dude. These are facts. You merely have speculation on your side - nothing more. Also - you really have lots of nerve to question the vast wisdom and knowledge of members on this board who have all studied the REAL LIFE VF-1s!! So no - no body here is talking out of the a$$. Graham and Shawn have taken us on a field trip to Japan where we got to see the real VF-1 variable fighter and there they had the real measurements and we all measured the nose and we know how much it should be so you just go back to Georgia and play with all that red mud you guys have there. poo doo! Pete
  19. No offense - but this sounds like one of those "well the nose cone is still 3 milimeters to short/long comments in the Yamato toy section I mean - technically - can't you say that airplanes are also falling from high elevation and jets give them enough speed to go far? Everything that goes up and does not leave the pull of gravity will come back down eventually - whether immediately, or only after running out of fuel or sustaining damage. Heck - a aircraft launching off of an aircract carrier is also "falling from a high elevation" - as is a bird that "jumps" off a tree to spring into flight... So - to me - the guy is flying - it's cool - and when can I get that thing in a store? Pete
  20. I honest to gosh fail to see the difference... ? Pete
  21. Here's my list: 1. Yamato 1/60 VF-1 version two (all types S,A,J, etc) - the toy itself is the biggest achievement of the year IMO 2. Bandai Soul of Chogokin God Mars - that was released this year -wasn't it?... In any event - I think it's superb. Anime accurate, and the leg poseability makes it seem like the legs are "fluid" even though they are solid metal. 3. Yamato 1/60 YF-21 - hard not to include this thing. The execution is fantastic. The stand is there. The cockpit transformation is amazing - including the nose-shortening trick. The hands are impressive. The transformation is fluid and graceful. The wheels...everything - this is one of the best achievements in a long long time. 4. Kaiyod- Revoltech...Regult. Yep- that's right. Of course, it's hard to love the Regult just for being a Revoltech, because it has standard Revoltech sculpting and joints - nothing "big" there. And the Regult itself is a fairly run of the mill low tier mecha. BUT - I nominate it because it is not only the FIRST Regult toy in decades, but it is the BEST Regult toy in the history of the universe thus far. Unsurpassable - this is the piece Macross fans were waiting for. 5. Transformers Animated Bulkhead - why? Because 10 years from now he will STILL stand out - love or hate the new aesthetic of animated; Bulkhead is its' premiere representative. He is clearly distinct from every Transformer that preceeded him (although you could say that Cybertron Crumplezone was a bit of a Bulkhead pre-cursor) - and he's kind of a vanguard for the artistic direction of animated. A very bold Transformer - love him or hate him. And a pretty nifty one at that. He's cute (I think); the lower leg transformation is nifty and he's got lots of character to him. I have a ton more candidates but I need to first check if they actually came out this year Pete
  22. It's always a tough call. Personally, if they did Ibuki, Misato, Ritsuko and more I'd be very happy, since I'm not into the other stuff they did (except Yoko). But - on the other hand - the one benefit is that the later that your particular favorite line comes out - the better it will be. Look at how much better Fraulein turned out compared to 2G Saber/Saber Alter and even Revy? Revy is actually i pretty shoddy Revoltech compared to Rei Ayanami and Asuka. So - if we get Macross Frontier Revoltechs much later - they'll probably blow NGE Revoltechs out of the water. That's the benefit of rotation. I personally am miffed as to why Street Fighter suddenly got this explosion of figures - but I'm sure they have some kind of method to their madness and just figured this would be very popular or pull in gamers or whatever... In any event - I am looking forward to more Gurren Lagann - although what I would really prefer is for Revoltech to give us more human molds. Their giant robots are nice - but there are plenty of nice Giant Robots out there - whereas I bet you will not find a better Rei Ayanami action figure than what Revoltech is offering. They should put more focus on Fraulein. Pete
  23. The cheapest alternative for a stand are women. When I got my YF-19 1/60, I had my girlfriend hold it up while I took pictures. On that note- I would love it if some company finally got the bright idea of producing girl-stands. Anime chicks rigged to hold up in scale fighters Can you imagine how wonderful that would be? Pete
  24. Second Freudian slip in a row Pete
  25. Actually, WE all exist in Kieth's delusional world. Pete
