  1. Looks to me like a dry brush technique using a very flat brush and thick, bright enamel paint. Used to get these effects when I was a beginner in dry brushing and was too much highlight for military models. But on a sci-fi model (like a Valk), it has a very impressive result. I should try this myself. Thank you.
  2. It has a short compilation footage of all the Macross series with commentary explaining when it came out and where it stands on the Macross timeline (it also has a short footage of Macross II) and then goes onto promote Macross Zero that was yet to be released at the time. In addition, there are files of posters, previews and promotional films that you can access. I am sure there is better description available on the web. In addition, I recall seeing the compilation footage on Youtube.
  3. I have used both www.okshon.com and www.rinkya.com as my proxies for bidding on Yahoo Japan. They are both well-established and come with real time bidding system so that you don't miss out on auction items for failing to bid on time. The commissions are not cheap since they charge you for $10~15 for shipping & handling (which includes a fee for making the payment to seller using the Japanese bank transfers) and a percentage of the bid-won price as commission. Rinkya often has sales for cels, dougas and dojinshis so I have been using them more often. Okshon is better if you're bidding on toys or models. Rinkya requires your credit card information so that they are protected if you fail to pay them on time. Okshon takes a deposit via PayPal which counts towards setting your maximum bid limit. Okshon will refund the deposit to you upon request but it took them over a month to refund my deposit (which worked as a negative for me) although their services leading up to that point was superb. Both of these sites charge you again for shipping to your destination in the US (or in my case, Hong Kong). I am not aware of proxy services for eBay Hong Kong but many sellers on eBay HK will ship to the US. If not, you can contact the seller and make specific requests.
  4. I recently had a similar experience. I bought a Chinese knock-off VF-19S from a fellow MWer a month ago and gave it to my son who just turned 2 years old. I transformed it from fighter to battroid in front of him when my wife was not at home. I left for work and my wife returned to find a new red robot sitting on the dining table and asked my son where he got the robot. He said "daddy" and then pointed to the robot and said "airplane, robot, airplane, robot~~". She obviously had no idea what he was telling her until I came home and explained.
  5. Count me in, please... (why would any one want to drop off from this list? )
  6. Just got mine! Awesome work as expected from the Captain.
  7. Ryuji, tough crowd here on MW, isn't it? But I believe every one voicing their opinions are being true to their feelings and their love for Macross. It it's not too much trouble, please show us the revised hand/arm pose for the salute. I am sure you will be able to manage this superbly. Thanks again for making this happen!
  8. I believe that in the last episode of SDFM (TV series), Misa gives a salute to Hikaru right before she takes off. Of course, she is stopped short by the rogue Zentradi air raid and Hikaru catches up to her. That "salute" she gave was a memorable moment and the angle of her forearm is a lot more vertical. She has her hand in a straight line with her thumb tightly pressed against the side of her hand and not hanging loose. That scene I believe would be a good reference point. Hope this helps.
  9. Thank you. Any one else have additions to their collection that they would like to share? Getting hold of cels for Macross is getting more and more difficult.
  10. I just finished watching Mac7 just so that my viewing of the Macross series is complete. I agree it's a children's show and couldn't stand the sound force Valks (human face? feminine bodyline for a mech? - almost retro of Mazinger Z). With that said, all other mech designs were pretty impressive and I loved the VF-22s flown by Max and Miria in the last episode. My point is, even after having watched Mac7, I would still vote for Max.
  11. I second this. Ryuji, can we get two versions of the hair? DYRL version and the TV version?
  12. I believe he was referring to Roy. This was after Quamzin and Roy went after each other. Both Roy and Quamzin are the kind of pilots who anticipate the enemy's move. Each of them managed to outsmart the other's anticipation. Quamzin then met with Hikaru thinking he was Roy and Hikaru nearly got his wind knocked out of him (lost a battroid arm or something) and managed to save his a$$ because Quamzin was ordered to retreat.
  13. Awesome collection, DyNo! Are all of these toys or do you have models displayed as well. Couldn't tell from the pic.
  14. Looking great and more like Misa, Ryuji. It has to be the Mikimoto eyes, which would not be easy to paint on.
  15. Max and Roy on a par... but then again, Roy died and Max survived. Max should have an upper hand. Isamu is good but he hasn't seen combats like the first generation did. Let's not forget Quamzin although I think his skills don't match up to "Ace" Milia.
  16. Or you could opt for a 1/72 scale resin kit by Musasiya or a recast of it, if you can find one.
  17. Unlike Minmay who has her signature "hairdo", Misa will need more than the hair to make it look like Misa. It's hard to tell just from the sculpt, Ryujii. Would you be so kind to let us know if you can post a pic of a painted face/head? With the right eye, the proportions should make the face look like Misa. By the way, I looked up the Flash Back 2012 book and it says that in 2012, Misa was seen wearing the uniform of an XO (2nd in command) of Megaroad 1 and not that of a "captain".
  18. It's no wonder. It's practically impossible to approach every single person who allegedly infringes on their "IP right". (Quotations added for points that are arguable/debatable.) But if they fail to take any action against those who are brought to their attention, then with lapse of time, they can lose their "rights".
  19. Although belated, happy birthday Macross. For the 50th anniversary, I would like to see a 1/1 scale full transforming VF-1 that flys...
  20. Thanks. You can see the rest of my collection on this thread: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=15803. I will be uploading a couple more in a few weeks when I get my latest purchases delivered to me.
