  1. Saw it today and loved every minute of it. The all CG Dain was a bit weird, but whatever. Galadriel overpowering Sauron was my personal favorite scene. Can't wait for the extended edition.
  2. What's really funny to me is that this whole thing is going to make this movie far, FAR more sought-after, celebrated, notorious, famous and eventually watched than it ever would have been otherwise. Without this drama it would have been just another comedy that people laugh about for a couple weeks before being forgotten.

That listing says it's made of over 40% diecast. But it also says the release date in 2/2014. :/

I liked the longer wings better in fighter mode. Include swappable sets perhaps?
  5. I hope this remains available for a few months. I've actually talked myself into being OK with the price but after MP Star Saber and the VF-0D hit it's going take my wallet a while to recover enough to handle the Orgroid.

Their facebook site is gone. Let the Harmony Gold smack-down theories commence!
  7. Yes, the non-painted Yamato 1/60 is exactly the same as the kit, which is also the same white plastic as the Arcadia TV Roy & Hikaru. The standard Yamato 1/60 TV valks are a different white - still very bright white, just a more pure white (if that makes sense) without the violet/pink tinge under certain lights.
  8. The Yamato assembly kits (and the pre-assembled versions) are a very stark white and almost have a slight pinkish hue to them under certain lights. This is the same for the Arcadia VF-1S Roy and Hikaru. It's a very different white than standard Yamato releases and also different from Bandai's Frontier VFs. So I don't think you have any discoloring going on.

I don't think the LED will neccessarily increase the cost. LED lights are so dirt cheap they're in throw-away junk toys everywhere.

So good to see this line make a comback, and with stuff beyond the VF-1! That display base is such a tease though. I want one.

looks like the 1J and 1A will be ready around the same time as the 1S

So at 13.5cm (5.5 inches) it'll be taller than the SDi VF-25 for sure. I don't have my Joke Machine handy to measure, but I think those are around 10cm tall.

I don't mind them in fighter mode but in battroid mode they do give quite a large 'cape'. Oh well, I'll still take it. Or maybe things will get all Transformers-style crazy and yet another company will make a set of shorter wings and a different head.

Fantastic! That is going to look marvelous next to the SDi Messiah.
  15. A 1/18 VF-1 toy wouldn't be as big as that though since the Valkyrie is smaller than the Tomcat. It would probably be around the size of the GI Joe Skystriker. Either way, yes it would be a very large toy and one they would likely have to make in limited quantities (so as to not 'waste' the intellectual property) which would drive the price tag up even higher. I still totally want one, though. On-topic, would you guys like to see the leg transformation system from Bandai's latest VF-1 kits implemented ion a DX VF-1? I wonder if they would go for that, or use something similar to the Hi Metal, or maybe something new altogether. Little changes like that is one of the things that draws me to each new VF-1 toy/model that comes out. I enjoy seeing the different solutions for transformation that the designers come up with, even if they are just small variations.
  16. This statement fits nicely with my dream of having a fully transformable 1/18 scale VF-1 with a fully articulated pilot with removable helmet. In reality, I'm sure if Bandai makes a DX VF-1 it'll be 1/60 scale and have a finish close to that of the Frontier toys. Either way I'll buy at least one because I'm a sucker for VF-1 toys.
  17. Agreed, actually. I know it's 'wrong', but I dig how it looks.
  18. Got mine today, thanks Evilcat! I love it. The overall fit & finish and tactile feel reminds me of a Yamato toy. This thing is very high quality. To anyone on the fence I'd say grab one now because my gut tells me the secondary market price will go up quickly once stores run out and word gets out how nice this thing is.
  19. heh, I just realized that since I just moved into a new place the other day and all of my toys are still in storage, the MAKUROS will be the very first toy I put up for display when it arrives tomorrow. One tiny capital ship, all alone, waiting for his fleet to arrive.
  20. Drat, I knew there would be a catch with the MT! Perfect for the Schrödinger's cat collectors though.
  21. Paid! evilcat, can you please ship mine via matter transporter? I'd like it right now instead of waiting a few days.
  22. Same here. I've posed the toy quite a bit over the last couple weeks in battroid mode and nothing has come loose or made me think I should use the bracket. Hopefully it wont loosen over time on its own like my other Bandai Frontier toys. Never had the wing issue on either the Alto or CF 171 toys either. Not saying it wasn't an issue, just that the tolerances of these mass produced toys can vary enough to give different people different experiences.
  23. Oh man, now I want a B-25 Transformer where the turret forms the head!
  24. Some day I hope to find a scan that doesn't have fighter mode covered with a giant watermark. I'd also love a transformable SD Koenig Monster, and a Joke Machine 2.0, and really any other transforming Macross mechs they want to make. A SD VF-17 would be at the top of my list.
  25. Welcome! My VF-1S Joke Machine is my favorite. Had one when I was a kid, lost it, then bought one as an adult when I joined the MW forums. That was like 13 years ago. Hey you bastards I'm still here!
