  1. All right, time for a few more updates. first off I did some detail drawings for the 400F model. a little leg detail sketch, a nise large head profile, and most importantly the melee weapons. for those of you fallowing the Custom valk thread, I was debating whether I could throw on some kind of sword. well this is my solution I decided that a beam saber type weapon replacing the original anti-armor blade would be the easiest to draw and explain. My in universe explanation: Initially all VF-400's using the standard arm and shoulders had a retractable blade for melee combat in the right arm (works the same way as the VF-27's blade) but after initial combat experience against Forces from the Rouge Macross Crusade Fleet (the Crusade fleet and their mecha will be expanded apon as soon as I finish drawing their Valks ) who's heavily armored valks are optimized for close quarters combat, the need for improved melee capability was quickly recognized. The quickest solution proved to be replacing the standard blade with a plasma Jet contained by the valks pin point barrier system. Next up is the newest and most ridiculous VF-400 variant to date. The VF-400S with the AAP-04/β Drachen system. The VF-400S is a unique variant of Lazarus family designed specifically for Experimental testing of both the valk itself as well as new combat systems. The Valk is has an expanded internal computer system and significantly more internal sensors for the purpose of data gathering during testing. to accompany the new sensor equipment, the 400S is equipped with a new head that includes 2 12.7mm lasers, 2 20mm lasers, and a large communication mask for transmitting data in flight. So far only 3 S models have been produced. The first S model was also the first VF-400 unit delivered and was used for initial System and Flight Testing until it was permanently grounded. the second unit performed initial testing for all of the VF-400's airframe augmentation packs, including the AAP-04/β, before being destroyed in an incident still under investigation. the third and only flying example of the VF-400S was equipped with the AAP-04/β unit in 2061, and was deployed for combat evaluation as the number 4 plane of the SVF-103 Jolly Rogers squadron. the AAP-04/β Drachen system is designed to test the concept of a Valk as a heavy anti-ship combat unit. as such the unit is equipped with a large heavy quantum reaction beam gun integrated into the right arm as it's primary armament. the valk also carries a Large shield on it's left arm capable of obsorbing intense fire, including the fire from it's own beam gun. the shield also carries 5 long range missiles and one micro missile launcher on it's underside. since the AAP-04/β is meant to be a primarily space based valk, aerodynamics are not a primary concern. as such it's been equiped with larger high output boosters to counter the weight of the gun and shield, and in place of wings the boosters have large combination fuel blister/missile launchers. the units also has large pylons for reaction weapons/DE bombs, and a modified 60mm beam gun mounted in a turret on the left side.
  2. I think the last thing the world needs is more live action porn from Japan. I mean, Japan does not make good quality porn with real people at all. ] um... dude... um... I don't know how to put this politely so I'm just going to say it... THIS IS A PORNO! It's about nudity and sex with women (you're probably referring to the real macross F movie, but you picked the worst two topics to cover in one post) no, that would be Gainax
  3. I really don't know. maybe their that jaded. must of my friends are. or maybe they were go busy thinking, "wow, was that guy actually just a balloon full of tomato soup?" to be traumatized. I know I was.
  4. hehe, thanks for the plug I've actually got a couple more updates coming soon...
  5. It could be worse, it could be a WonderFest exclusive. I F*cking hate con exclusives, their so much worse than magazine limited editions. at least it's semi possible to get a magazine exclusive in another country.
  6. I'm Just going to go ahead and render this whole discussion moot right now: they are definitely NOT CWIS. I was flipping through my Hidetaka Tenjin Valkyries art book which has some production stills from Mac0 in it. they have this small shot of the Asuka II's bridge up close: you can clearly see that their IS a CWIS mounted on the starboard side of the island about half way up. it's clearly different (smaller, different details, actually has a gun) from the white pill shaped things on top of the island. it looks like they have the same objects on this ship, which I think is the carrier that shin lauches from in the begining, that's supposed to be a kitty hawk class. and you can kind of see similar looking structures on the Real Kitty Hawk. I think they're supposed to be radars.
  7. If it were me, I'd just want them to send me a letter with nice bandai letter head saying that yes, they did use my stuff in their marketing material. Just so that I'd have something to show people when I tell them the story and they're all like "No way, I call BS" and anyways: YF-24! YAY!!! I honestly want that more than anything else from frontier. I love obscure underutilized valks. so how about a VF-4 and a VF-3000?
  8. how big are these figures? i'm really hoping for a 1/6 size figure with these. that would be so cool.
  9. I have no idea why anyone would think that the wast products of a Mk 15 firing would have any effect on radar or other sensors. with the FOD thing though, I don't see it necessarily being a problem. the Mk 15's feed system cycles all spent shells and unfired cartridges back into the ammunition drum so there's no spent shells falling around anywhere. as for the sabots themselves I really don't know but it's fully possible that they'd have enough forward momentum to carry themselves all the way past the deck and land in the water. (does anyone know how far the sabots form 20mm rounds travel once fired?)
  10. you must be new here...
  11. fixed.
  12. and yet even with the reheat it's still slower than the F-16 yeah, the game really has no idea what it's talking about. half the time you'd think you were playing a battlefield game.
  13. oh yeah, I'm killing you... Sorry, nothing personal. It's just revenge.
  14. if they're using Mk 15 Phalanx, then they're using sabot rounds.
  15. The VF-25 stabbed a space lobster with a giant Ka-Bar. swords aren't that much of a leap.
  16. I'm so going to kill you...
  17. I think the 1D was meant as a trainer, the one shown in episode 1 defiantly was. I think the VF-1D works in the same way that the D model works on the F/A-18. with legacy hornets, the two seaters can be configured as dual control trainers, or they can be configured as all-weather strike craft. the VF-1D was probably the primary VF-1 Trainer before and during SW1, but could also be set up as a combat aircraft, possibly in the strike role as well. that being the case. I think it would the coolest thing ever if once the start doing Non-cannon schemes that they did a VF-1D in the low Vis version 2 camo pattern so you could have a Vietnam era Wild Weasel Valk.
  18. BOOO!!!!!
  19. CaD makes things better but it can't fix anything, and in some ways it make stuff like this more likely. with CAD making it possible to do more precise engineering in the design fase, stuff is going to be designed with tighter tolerances which should overall result in a tighter, higher quality product. but if because of how tight the tolerances are, even a tiny discrepancy in production will be noticeable. one mold just has to be a tiny amount to big or too small (tiny to the point you can't even see the difference with your eye) and you've got parts that are loose or excessively tight. heck it could even be the result of a tiny oversight like not taking into account how much thicker a part will be once you put a layer of paint on it. and as for anime accuracy, I haven't bothered to compare the prototype vs. the CG images, but at least so far it looks Visually apealing which is enough for me. as long as the final version looks this good, I'll be satisfied.
  20. well that one is basically an Angel Birds VF-1 in battroid mode. (the Angel Birds paint scheme is meant to look like a school girls uniform in battroid mode) but I'd like to see valks like the LV-7 and the SeiRan-99 actually worked into macross.
  21. but this a different product from a different company with a whole different type of problem. I can kind of understand with the 1/60 v.2 fallowing the VF-0 since it was the same company having the same kind of problem (plastic part failing do to material and design deficiencies) in the same area. but with the DX it's completely different situation. a metal screw snapped; it could be that the shoulder is poorly designed or assembled; but it's just as likely that the factory got a bad batch of screws. same situation with the broken hip, and that one could be even more of a fluke since It's only the one case. we don't even know enough/have enough evidence to pass Judgment on the on the VF-25 DX yet, let alone make calls on how a completely different toy will fair when it hasen't even gotten past the cobbled together resin prototype.
  22. yeah, I remember a while ago on an Ace combat forum I found a link to a Q&A thread about this game with the developers. the made it sound like you'd be able do all kinds of customizing to gameplay in terms of how much help the game would give you. and with the HUD you'd think that with the Helmet mounted display they'd have more reason to include a full HUD Since they're designed to have them. it's really sad how poorly the cockpit view is done since that's my favorite view to use. As for the Harrier, it's here but I didn't notice any VTOL capabilities at all. if you break you slow to down more than on the F-16 but not a lot more, at which point either the limiter kicks in or you stall out. maneuverability isn't effected either, and I couldn't find a way to make the nozzles move at all.
  23. yes, the DX Quarter is going to be a fragile mess that will crumble to dust if you look at it funny! I really question peoples motivations when they bring up how much of an OMG MAJOR PROBLEM the shoulders on the DX 25 are. so far we've had what, 4 or 5 cases of shoulders breaking? I'd hardly call that cause for concern at all, let alone justification for the reaction some people have. it's not like SOME toy's which sell for more and have REALLY high breakage rates *cough*VF-0*cough*. it's not even near as bad as the v.2 VF-1's. as for the hip thing. we've had ONE person report a leg breaking off at the hip. we don't even know much of anything about what happened other than this one toy had it's leg break. we don't know if its because of a design problem, a materials problem, heck it could be excessively rough handling. We're not going to know for sure if the DX 1/4 is in danger of breaking until it gets here and even then, the VF-25 DX hardly indicates that there might be a problem.
