  1. This is just speculation on my part but I think that once docked, the ARMD's were never meant to detach again (save for during a major refit). I think that the bridges did remain maned, but they aren't commanded by a captain and bridge crew the same way they would be when they are separated. they probably have crew that operate the ARMD's onboad systems and what not, and more than likely the they have an air operations crew on each ARMD to coordinate launch and recovery on each ship independently. now the SDF-1 itself has an area for Air operations, since the SDF-1 could launch aircraft without the ARMD's. I think that the tower on the SDF-1's bridge controls the airspace around the ship and coordinates between the two ARMD's. It actually makes sense that the ARMD has two bridges, sort of. On a real aircraft carrier, the bridge where the ship is sailed from is on a separate level of the ships island from the tower where flight deck operations are controlled. On the ARMD the control of the ship itself is handled from one bridge, and control of air operations is handled form the other (the decision to have 2 bridges probably stems from the fact that the TV ARMD has it's only bridge right at the front of the ship.) as for which bridge is which I have no idea. having the air operations bridge being the tall island like structure would make sense since it has a clear view of the flight deck, but then again it might be the structure in the front since the massive window would give a better view of incoming aircraft.
  2. Just the way formations have been numbered since they started flying 4 ship formations in WWII. Odd numbered planes are leads and even numbered planes are wingmen. Only Leads actively peruse targets, the wingmans job is to fallow the lead and make sure his back is clear while he executes the mission. The logic is that each even numbered plane is the wingman to the odd numbered plane before him. If you add planes it makes it simpler too. add another element to the flight (an element is a lead + wingman) and the new element lead takes on the number 5 and his wingman takes on the number 6, instead of having to shuffle the numbers up so that they can have the numbers match seniority.
  3. shoop, pixels, etc... OMG
  4. I somehow submitted the same post twice, no need to apologize.
  5. I played the demo and was very underwhelmed, but I'm thinking of going down to blockbuster and renting a copy to try the full game out. also I registered for the online contest thing so I need to play at least one session of online this weekend.
  6. double post WTH?!?
  7. actually that gives me an awsome idea for how to store an FSW (although I don't have a valk to use it on yet.)
  8. actually that might be interesting. just if you feel like including any history or background be sure to ask me first, K?
  9. wow, all this much discussion over whats between the legs on a Valk I drew out of boredom. I probably shouldn't have expected any less from you guys I wish I remembered how the thing was supposed to work. I know that they fold back YF-19 style (yellow line), and then the wing plus wing glove folds back VF-25 style (green line). but instead of being attached to the backpack, the glove is connected to the little thruster which hangs off the shoulder (blue line).
  10. there are grey 2 gundam markers for panel lining. GM02 and GM21 GM21 as well as GM20 (GM20 is the same type of pen but black) is a water based ink marker, it can be removed VERY easily. (so easily you really should clear coat anything you use it on if you plan to handle it.) GM02 is a lacquer based paint pen. since it's lacquer based, it will dry fast and once it's dried it takes a strong Sullivan to remove. GM02 is only if you want REALLY heavy panel lines that are safe from handling.
  11. yeah technically they never had callsigns. the numbers on the nose and tails are meant to resemble Modex numbers since spacy nomenclature is based off US Navy systems. although in practise they function more like USAF tail codes if they did have call signs they would be skull 1-4, with the flight lead (Roy) being skull 1. Hikaru was second in command right? if that's the case then he would be skull 3, and Max and kakizaki would be 2 and 4 depending on who is who's wingman (2 is 1's wingman and 4 is 3's)
  12. I'm not really sure about that, I've got quite a back story and operational history for the VF-400's... I have an irrational fear of other people getting involved in my personal project and conflicting with the continuity I've got in my head.
  13. it is removable but I don't know where else to put it.
  14. when I drew that I was kind of working from the Yukikaze anime design school. (take every aerodynamic principle and throw it out the window) I should point out that the arms are lade along the sides of the engines in fighter mode YF-21/SV-51 style. the tail fins are mounted on the arms YF-21 style as well. It really is a Franken-valk; SV-51 arms, YF-19 arms, VF-25S head, RVF-25 antenna, and the funny parts that stick up on the chest like the VF-2SS.
  15. got the PM actually, does sound quite interesting, I look forward to seeing it.
  16. no, prostitutes are cheaper.
  17. since this is becoming a what gundam would you pilot thread, I have to say that I love this one for the shear lulz of it...
  18. Its a case of one artist having a distinctive style that he brings to every project he works on... (SK designed the Grampus by the way. )
  19. I think the problem was that the whole damn movie was AWFUL. Black Dahlia was one of those movies where it's so inherently bad that it makes everyone in it look awful even when their not. sort of like Francis Ford Coppola's version of Dracula, a movie so bad it even made Anthony Hopkins look like a bad actor.
  20. where is this RPG page by the way?
  21. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_low_vis_2.htm
  22. nice laptop (typing this from the same model )
  23. or that another publication comes along 10 years down the road and gives us ANOTHER set of numbers. I have an odd feeling that the 3000 km vs. 500km thing is SK giving out different numbers on purpose because he's trying to F**k with us (I really think he's that kind of person). that or the original numbers are Miyatake's numbers and the new ones are SK's numbers if it's the second one then I'm more inclined to go with the old numbers since Miyatake is the one who drew the thing.
