Well, welcome back to the board and welcome to the money pit. First I need to ask, what is F&S? I honestly don't know what store that is. Anyways, with the VF-1's the hiki 1S is the newest out with strike parts. They are coming out with DYRL style Max and Kakizaki 1A's and a Max 1S next month, and you can buy strike parts separate for the new 1/60s so you might want to weight and get one of those. all v.2 1/60's should be free form defects as of the VF-1S hiki though so it's down to which color and head you like really. Personally I have to recommend the YF-21 though, it is absolutely amazing. They're beautiful looking toy and it's free of any major QC concerns, definitely something to get. (personally I got my YF-21 months ago, and I'm waiting for the Max -1S to start getting into the v.2) As for you're son, I wouldn't personally recommended any of Yamato's transforming toys for a kid. they're not nearly as fragile as people claim, but they definitely aren't meant to be manhandled regularly. The DX is a bit better, but it is a 12,000 yen toy. If he wants a transforming toy, I guess it would fit the bill. If you're willing to look at non transforming, the Yamato GN-U figures are nice, they're bigger, more robust, and nicer looking (in my opinion) than the Revoltech's but still fairly small and cheap. Bandai also has the VF100 line, their partsformers but they're cheaper than the DX. The first one is either already out or out within the next couple days. you know, I'd honestly say one of Bandai's Origin of Valkyrie toys would be a good bet. they're still just as indestructible as they were back in the 80's and those were made for little kids.

I was actually surprised that it WASN'T a VF-1. I figured that once they milk the VF-25's for all they're worth, they'd do the VF-1's so they can milk them for all they're worth as well. -

chances are they'll fix it, but their not going to go and change the marking on a test shot/prototype they've already finished. -
Is it just me or is it really high up? maybe it's the angle, but it looks like her butt starts at her mid back.

technically the Variable Glaug has a glass cockpit if it's the human sized version. Anyways even with all the different simulated view systems, I think having a glass canopy still makes a lot of seance. First off, It's probebly a good idea to have a glass canopy at least as a backup so that if something happens like say you're BDI loses connection, the camera feeding you're monitor/holographic display gets shot out, one of you're monitors goes dead etc. etc. having a Glass canopy is cheaper and more reliable than all kinds of fancy projection systems and simulated views. it also in valks like the VF-25 and VF-17, even if you do have holographic HUD type display being projected to mark out objects and targets and what not, it's not going to hurt anything to still have the canopy free of seams or supports in the pilots field of view. I Just find it odd that they would ever choose to give a valk a canopy that has big supports in the pilots field of view when they are clearly and regularly shown to be able to make one piece canopies for valks. Sure they may not NEED to have glass canopies but it doesn't hurt and would have it's benefits. -

I find it kind of odd and interesting that SK decided to include a separate windscreen on the VF-25. as far as I can tell No other valk has this particular set up except for the Variable Glaug. -
the PPB is going to serve a couple of functions. First the PPB controls the specific shape of the plasma jet; if it was a strait jet it would be a much wider jet relative to the length, but with the PPB the jet can be made longer and thinner, and also be given a flat profile instead of a round one. If I remember correctly, it is possible to manipulate plasma using electromagnetic fields; this is sort of the same thing. the second function is actually to give the blade rigidity. so if something strikes the blade it will stop rather than passing through. also the heat energy from the plasma is able to radiate out through the PPB, except for right around the hand and arm itself. I've got two ways that the PPB could work, either A) different types of Barriers can be Generated by a PPB system, you can have heat insulating barriers, projectile stopping barriers, energy dissipating barriers, etc. etc. and in this case you're using a PPB that absorbs heat around the arm, and then a barrier that stops objects by transmits heat through it for the rest of the blade. The other option is B) a PPB absorbs energy by converting it to another form of energy or radiating it somewhere else. if the PPB is being used to Insulate the craft (such as during high speed flight) the PPB converts heat energy into power that gets fed back into the system, or the PPB can take absorbed Heat and radiate to another part of the barrier. with the blade, the side of the barrier facing the plasma jet absorbs the heat from the Plasma, then releases it on the opposite side of the barrier, away from the arm of course. I don't recall any official explanation for how the PPB works other than "it just does" though their probably is somewhere in SDF:M that I'm totally forgetting. I'm just going to go with whichever of these two explanations work best which what we already know/is the least stupid.

well I consider the GN-U figures REALLY overpriced, the VF100's are equally so. for what you get the GN-U should be more like 2000 yen, maybe 2500 yen. the VF100 are probably worth about 3500 yen. -
I think in the third picture the models themselves are fine, an ti's jsut that the whole shot is intentionality a little defocused. as for the first and to a lesser extent second, it again has less to do with the actual model and more to do with the cinematography. the first scene definitely looks like they purposefully made that shot shaky and blurry to impart a sense of movement when the scene is playing. and with the first part it doesn't help that it has a LOT of compression artifacts and looks like it came from a low quality TV rip.

yeah, I really miss his figure reviews. I still hope he'll pop in every once and a while though as for Movic, their Cocona figure was really the only product they've done that I actually liked. just about everything else has either been rather wonky looking or really not my taste. I actually put off getting the standard version because of how unimpressed I've been at most of their previous offerings. Glad I changed my mind though so poo on them either way

I've actually got a whole elaborate back story detailing the development and deployment of these things that also Ties in some of my other designs I'm working on. I don't have any actual stories or much of anything actually written down, just elaborate ideas in my head that I work all my designs around.

no, the Canadians used them to beat the mongols at the battle of the Alamo. learn yourself some history . (this stupid joke brought to you by the letter /k/)

hmm... $299? really tempting. I've been seeing nothing but Killzone 2 ads for the last week, and now I desperately want one. I played the first game back on the PS2 and really liked it, and the new one just looks awesome. I've already got a 360 though, and I've got a lot of Macross related stuff to save for... Video games and blu-ray, or Macross goods? not good at decision making. help!

Brera was using the super booster. the regular booster looks the same as the boosters from Mac+ and Mac7 except for a different color. -
badly drawn hair or not, I don't like ranka with long hair, she looks like a basset hound. I actually like here better with the even shorter hair. and, I actually really like the circled one on the left, I think Michael would have looked pretty cool like this. the one on the right would actually make a really attractive female face. definitely not Michael, but I could totally see that being adult size Klan. Some of the other brera sketches look a LOT like alto,But I actually prefer the Brera in the bottom left corner

um... what? :edit: oh... the klan looked better as a resin sculpt before painting. also, dolljoints = creepy -
the Michael and Brera concepts are strangely arousing, it's scary. and they look like clones of Seed/00 Gundam characters.

Alright already, we get that you'll argue a point to the grave and you're willing to be a dick and alienate everyone else on the board in order to win. Good for you, now can you please shut up and give us back our thread already?!? -
I've never been a completest of anything, so I'm usually fine with passing on exclusives, but I'm still very pissed that I missed out on this: http://heiseidemocracy.com/wp-content/uplo...fesu_cocona.jpg I've already got the standard version, but the alternate hair is enough to justify the buy for me, let alone the lack of clothing unfortunately it's absolutely impossible to find. I'm hardly even sure anyone owns it or not...

I actually think the Sheryl one looks really good, as does the Klan. I originally thought the Sheryl figures face was a little off (due to poorly rendered makeup) but seeing the real thing it looks a lot better. the only one I think looks wrong is Ranka actually, something about her mouth just looks wrong.
