  1. I just realized, this one's supposed to be coming out in December, right. Well December ended about 2 hours ago in japan, does that mean it's out?
  2. this vaguely reminds me of some horrible Robotech slash fiction I read once. ugh
  3. wat? first of all, yeah they do. Even in a fictional anime world people still have ethnicity's. If Global and Misa are talking on the bridge they're probably both speaking the same language, and if that's the case they're going to talk with whatever native accent they have because that's how people talk. And even if the situation is that they're all speaking different languages and they're just having everyone speak one language for convenience sake, you'd STILL want people to have different accents so the audience watching can go; "Oh, he's got a Russian accent, he must be speaking Russian and we're just hearing English because the creators of the show are know we're too lazy to read subtitles."
  4. oh god... the bottom two look completely ridiculous and retarded but lockon's looks even worse. not only is it ugly and half-assed looking (oh boy they hung some boxes off it's ass) it completely misses the point of why lockon's gundam was cool in the first place (because it was a sniper mech) now, the new 00 actually looks pretty good.
  5. wait a second, is the GN drive thingy... in it's crotch?
  6. Clearly Roy isn't an admiral though. Also iirc (and please correct me if I'm wrong) Roy flew the first production VF-1. If that's the case it could means Spacy actually uses Airforce tail codes where the 3-digit number on the nose is the last 3 digits of the planes serial number.
  7. but that style only works for him because Syd Mead is the greatest industrial designer/futurist who ever lived. :edit: and on a related note, Syd Mead is signifigantly better at designing giant robots than the people who made battletech. As proof: turn A gundam
  8. it could be interesting, although I would be concerned about balance issues, also some of the in game animations need some work.
  9. honestly the Japanese designs are pretty derivative and not nearly as good as the designs form something like Armored Core for instance, but they still look better than the designs in the original Battletech books. frankly, with the exception of the Atlas, the only good designs in classic Battletech where the ones they stole from Macross and Dougram (warhammer, shadowhawk, marauder etc.)
  10. because the guys who did original battletech were amateurs with no real experience in technical drawing, where as Japanese battletech was illustrated (somewhat ironically) by Studio Nue. (hence the considerable amount of awesome going on) :edit: To be fair though, Japanese battletech was done around in '92. By then FASA or whoever owned it at the time could afford to pay for actual illustrators to work on the books.
  11. Gundam ain't got shit on Macross.
  12. my point was that along with scenes where they looked much smaller than 400 feet, there were scenes where they looked a lot larger than that.
  13. did you paint yours or is that how the blue really looks in person? (that looks damn good by the way, I wish I still had the money to buy this one)
  14. The EVA's changed size from scene to scene all the time. When people were in front of them they were scaled small so they could fit in frame, during some fight scenes they were as big as 200 meters (compared to buildings and stuff). look at the size of the entry plug for instance, it's 4-6 feet in diameter and some 30-40 feet long. http://wiki.evageeks.org/images/c/c4/Eva01...ash_imaishi.jpg
  15. F-22's look so sexy with drop tanks
  16. that is quite creepy. oh god I think I'm going to have nightmare's now.
  17. I think it means one poster comes with the Brera VF-27 in February, then a different poster will come with all the DX's starting in March.
  18. The old launch arm has been discontinued, the adapters are for new Mighty Block stands (which are junk anyways).
  19. Oh, ok. That makes perfect sense.
  20. Alright, We interrupt your regularly scheduled gab to bring you something completely different: Canon 70-200mm f/4L has arrived! don't they match just so well. UPS delivered this at about 10pm so I haven't had a chance to really give it a workout but here's a couple of quick shots I took while testing it out (shot in my room under terrible lighting, please excuse the awful high-ISO noise.) Hows this for some awesome bokeh (these were shot in front of my closet and some window binds respectively) better pictures will be spammed tomorrow when I've got some light.
  21. I've got a $1,200 camera and I DO notice the difference in speed faster cards make. photos also load quicker when you go to review them. and I've broken a SD card taking it out of it's case so yeah, I trust CF more than SD.
  22. because CF cards offer more memory and higher speeds for less money. also SD cards are flimsy, I like my recording media to have better tensile strength than a saltine cracker.
  23. Because there's a big difference between "WE WANT >insert ridiculous demand here<!!!" and "how the hell do we make >insert ridiculous demand here< work on a 8 inch plastic toy in a way that can be mass produced and sold at realistic price?!?" They changed the metal pin design so it doesn't put excess stress on the plastic of the joint, and it worked. Every valk released starting with the 1S max is like that, and they're all fine. (All my 1/60's have the new pin, and are perfectly intact despite reasonably rough handling.)
