  1. I think Yamato should continue making the new valks, as long as we don't go scale hopping again. As for Bandai, well I'm still secretly hoping they will add the VF-1 (preferably in 1/60) to their Real Robot Revelution line. After all it is dedicated to 80's mecha.
  2. IKUZEEE!!! FLYER BOMBAAA!!!! Its a new frontier... lalala... What would you guys prefer an upbeat or melancholic story? Me, I'm for the first. Do guys think Yamato's secret 25th anni special has something to do with this new show?
  3. Finally FMP mechs to get my hands on. Are these supposed to be models or figures? I'm suprised that there hasn't been much in the way Arm Slave models/toys. I thought this show was hit in Japan?
  4. Looks cool to me, but I'm probably alone when I say that I prefer the 2040 Motoslave more than the original.
  5. I'd have to give DYRL the nod over SDF. Two things that bug me with SDF: 1) Animation quality is just poor. I realize this is an old show, but it's just not holding up to time very well. Story is still good, but the poor quality animation just kept on preventing me in fully emerging into the show. (Wish the quality was on par with Mospeada or maybe even Zeta Gundam) 2) For some reason the resolution of the love triangle in SDF doesn't quite sit well with me. I can't realy point my finger at it, but whole confrontation between Hikaru, Misa and Minmei sort of lacks "oomph" compared to DYRL (Hikaru's quarter).
  6. I gave it 3/5. It's good that it rounds up the character/love story. Would have been better to have the concert and the 5 minutes of new animation just before or while the end credits are running. I also think the staff behind this got away with murder. Tree years after DYRL and all they come up with is a 30 minute music video... they were lucky Macross fans swallowed this back then...
  7. Huh, I'm currently watching M7 and watched Ep 43 yesterday. Around 3:08 min you can clearly see a missile/reaction weapon being loaded into the VF-11s leg. Please Explain?
  8. Ok, I'm been meaning to ask this, because it's been bugging me lately: Does the VF-11 cockpit rotate or not? I ask this because there is that scene in M+ where Guld uses his BDI-System sees Isamu in the VF-11, just right before the power of the YF-21 completely cuts out and he starts to fall. To me it looks like Isamu is sitting vertical instead of horizontal.
  9. Anything with the words "epic" and "television" in the same sentence isn't epic. Err, wasn't this show called Quantum Leap back in the day... The Life on Mars thing is kind of sad. Do Americans re-invent all the shows that come from abroad?
  10. Graham could you also please tell Yamato to create a better locking mechanism for when the nosecone sits on that gullet piece in battroid mode. It's kind of irritating that the thing keeps on popping out of the hole when handling the valk. For me a slightly bigger tab that "clicks" into the nose would do the trick. Or they could at least make the the fit a bit tighter, so that you really have to "squeeze" the little tab in the hole.
  11. I'm to interested in this ever since playing A.C.E. 2. Character designs remind me of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star). Same guy drawing them?
  12. Thanks Knight26 and mondamoto that's the movie I was talking about. Looks like the director thought the movie wasn't to good either (Alan Smithee).

    VF-1S Hikaru

The VF-1S Hikaru is THE BEST of all the 1/48s. Yes even better than Roy's. If the last 10 minutes of DYRL didn't make anyone want to buy the Hikaru 1S then I can't consider the person true Macross fan
  15. Graham it is the hardest part of the transformation. Regardless if it's stuck with glue or not. I think I spent about 10-15 minutes trying make that thing slide back. Nothing was glued on mine and I do not think I broke anything (don't know if I have stress marks, didn't bother looking while transforming) while doing so, but it was damn hard to get it to move. Yamato should definitely rework the parts involved with this transformation process.
  16. Are you sure about this? You see the VF-0 was designed to run with the reaction engines in the first place, meaning the VF-0s size was big from the get go, and not because of the conventional engines. And at the same time we've got the VF-1 being developed, very small in comparison to the zero. Before Zero the growth of Valks was more natural, UN Spacy learning from their mistakes and developing Valks that can not only match giant aliens but also their armor. But the introduction of the VF-0s spoils this making VF-1s size seems like an oversight or like a thought process never finished. Designed it to fight giant aliens, but forgot that those aliens might have fighters or power suit themselves???
  17. Actually all of the Gundams grow steadily in size up to the RX-93 Nu Gundam. After that SNRI takes over from Anaheim and we have smaller Gundams again like F91. This works better than what we have for Macross I think the size difference between VF-1 and VF-0 is hard to swallow because both the Valks more or less existed at same time with completely different designs, but are supposed to be somewhat alike. Now I'm not an aerospace engineer or anything, but I don't really buy the explanation for big size of the VF-0 because of conventional engines. If the VF-0 was designed with the reaction engines in mind from the start then wouldn't the Valk be smaller in the first place? Anyway it's the sole reason why I hate prequels. They contribute nothing except give everybody headaches.
  18. No one has brought this up yet, but there is also serious design flaw with shoulders and chest plate. The shoulders can't do a full 360 degree rotation because the chest plate is in the way. In fact I don't even think it can do a forward 45 degrees and don't even bother trying 90...
  19. Interesting. Reminds me of a late 80s or early 90s sci-fi movie I watched with a space crew that had a similar mission... can't think of it's name.
  20. Maybe Bismark a.k.a. Ramrod from Saber Rider. I don't know if it was popular in Japan, but I think it was somewhat popular in the west.
  21. So is there still going to be a special surprise from Yamato to celebrate Macross' 25th? The report doesn't mention anything.
  22. From Gunota another pic of MG Hi-Nu: http://www6.ocn.ne.jp/~midori-b/newpic/nes-g0686.htm
  23. I hope it isn't too late... Graham can you ask if Yamato ever plans to revisit the 1/60 VF-1 line and give them an upgrade. A great looking and functionally better VF-1 in 1/60 is sorely missing. And I know a lot of you peeps are tired of the VF-1, but I'm not dammit!
  24. Two pages of endless debate of which vendor is/ships better... I would really prefer to read more on impressions or see some more pics of the YF-19.
