You mean this? If so, then you're being an a$$ and there's no point in trying to communicate with you any further. Bye.

Hey... wait a second. We already got a painting of the VF-14 the first time around! Sure, it wasn't that big and combined with the VF-9... does this mean that the VF-14 will get a proper sheet this time around?

Mistranslation is still a mistranslation, it doesn't matter who's name it's attached to.* Again, have you read any of the recently translated articles about it? * the easier of the 2 to point out is U.N.. The original text is 統合戦争 (Unification/Integration/Synthesis War), not 国連戦争 (United Nations War).

The only real comparison we can make, regarding John Williams and the soundtrack, is the Harry Potter film series: did anyone really notice when he was or wasn't scoring the film?

ER/RM++ Project: Timeline 12A: The Miss Macross Contest: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/Timeline12A.php - some tweaks in the revised edition (mostly clarifications), otherwise unchanged. Recomplete: Mechanic: D7 UN 01A VF-5000 Star Mirage: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/D7un01aVF-5000.php - revised and heavily tweaked. Parts of it should make a bunch more sense now. Otherwise, unchanged.

Complete (well, updated, cleaned up and slapped into php): Mechanic: Plus UN 05A: Flying Wing: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/PLUSun05aFlyingWing.php - alas, the revised edition didn't bother completing the investigation of the original writers... ER/RM++ Project: Mechanic: M UN 09A: ADR-04-MkX Defender: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/SDFMun09aADR04Defender.php - massive revision of this sheet in the revised edition. Wish I had the time to complete it; but as there's a big pile of sheets in the to-do box and I feel like I've done the Defender before (Great Mechanics.DX, others)... Character: F 00A "Macross F (Frontier)" Character Interrelation Chart/Triangle Timeline: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/F00ACharacterInterrelation.php - alas the extra report only regurgitates what one can already glean from the series if one is paying attention...

Correction: you've detected yet another mistranslation in fansubs.
-
I think the fans have to be added into the mix - or at least the desire to satisfy certain segments of the fandom (looking at the needlessly complicated and wordy dialogue that sounded deep but ultimately meant nothing). Nevertheless, the second movie held promise (aside from the stupid crap about Agent upgrades). It was the third that was the let down. I mean, wouldn't it have been much cooler if it was a matrix inside of a matrix inside of a matrix, and the machines were prisoners just as much as the humans?

There was some hate going on earlier in this thread about the genesis bomb in ROK - that thing was great. No, not because of the idea behind it, but because of its role in the script: it gave us a Hollywood Bomb that wasn't annoying and actually gave the plot an extra shove at the end, it also worked to complete the theme of the movie: the cycle of life (or more cynically: getting old, death and rebirth). Now, this STID (sounds like a fornication disease) will never be able to attain the same sublime level of ROK - for the simple reason that others have already mentioned: the characters are young, just starting out on their space adventures. That sad, I hope that this film actually has a point about something (and not the sharp, pointy type used for stabbing), and a good bad-guy. The first film, although I give it a passing grade because its the first in the series and is focused on developing the characters, is ultimately, forgettable. At best, it's akin to hanging out with your best friends for a couple of hours. I don't care what contrivances or gimmicks they put into it - just give me a decent story, decent characters, and a decent theme executed decently!- 1020 replies

Complete! Technology 09A: Reaction Weapons: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/09aReactionWeapons.php - quite loaded with goodies. Although I'd like a bit more on their technical aspects, that's more than balanced out with such things as their usage requirements and exception clauses. I'm also relieved to finally be finished with the sheet. I've been working on it off and on for 3 weeks!

Shouldn't the Cold War be "Cold Wars"? It had a many regional conflicts, too... For that matter, what about World War II? Shouldn't that be World Wars II? As there was the European War, the Pacific War...

ER/RM++ Project: Episode: Zero 02A: Macross Zero Chapter 2 "The Star on the Ground": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/Zero02ABeps02.php - hmmm, is it just me or do the writers not have very much to say about Macross Zero? Episode: D701A: Macross Dynamite 7 Volume. 1 "Drifting -wonder-": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/D701ABeps01.php - compared to the Zero sheets, the MC writers are M7 fans. Anyhow, some of the info is noteworthy, but overall, I didn't find the sheet as informative as the ones on SDFM, M7 or MF...

Watch the first half of "The Island" (2005). Its actually quite thought provoking and atypical for a Michael Bay movie. I think Ebert summed it up best: If you stop watching right about the time it switches to the second feature, the film runs like one of those creepy 70's SF flicks. Anyhow, never got into the EVA rebuild movies. The more I'm reading about the 3rd one, the less interested I am in them. I think it was the first movies that "retold" the story that deflated my interest in EVA. Don't get me wrong, a like the psychological aspects of the series (especially the end), and the open-ended-ness of the TV series ending - which may be why I didn't like the nihilistic retelling? (Everyone dies. The end.)

The short and easy answer is: no one wants to fall foul of the law and get a criminal record. You know, the law introduced last October which made it a criminal offence to upload or download copyright content.

Aside from the import store, you should be able to put a copyright claim in on eBay, Youtube and iTunes. I'm not sure how successful you will be with the voice track angle alone, but you might be much more successful in getting the content removed if you go the angle of copyright content owned by Big West, distributed internationally by ###.

Complete! Technology 01I: Variable Fighter (Escape Systems): http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/01iVariableFighter.php - I was only planning on doing the Extra Reports/Related matters, but the descriptions of the systems just turned out to be really interesting (not to mention relatively easy to translate ). There's lots of nuggets of information on the various escape systems which, as far as memory serves, haven't been mentioned before.

Which is why there was the 10 year Unification War on a heretofore unprecedented scale and level of destructiveness (or disruptive-ness as print sources on the matter tend to describe it).
-
There are 2 ways of looking at those scenes: - young Minmei looking at old Minmei departing and vice versa (I have suspicions that this is the way those scenes were intended to play). - cloned Minmei looking at real Minmei (what the scenes become when combined with print sources about the post war years - which Minmei is in which role is unclear).

ER/RM++ Project: Character: M UN 07A Bruno J. Global: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MUN07aBrunoJGlobal.php - most appreciated is a summary of hid activities after the end of the Interstellar War. Wish there was more... Character: TF Citizen 02B Sheryl Nome: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/TFcit02bSherylNome.php - the description of the concert ticket is eyebrow raising. There really is that much detail in the movie. History: F 02A: Vajra Raid: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/F02aVajraRaid.php - so that's what *really* happened during the first 3 episode arc. Anyhow, the description of Frontier's political system is a gem.

Yes, we have diverse interests, and some of us have stronger interests in Macross than others. Nevertheless, bigF's fundamental message stands: there's something about Macross that we like (otherwise we would never be participating in MW), and as that is something we have in common (to greater or lesser extent), it can give you an idea (more or less) if you will like something. Maybe a pessimistic version would be better? You're more likely to find negative reviews that echo your sentiments in MW than any other site.- 1020 replies

That's a very good point. Above and beyond what you mentioned, it also retains the "foreignness" of the original and the in-joke for those who know the foreign language.
