The workable solutions I came up with are: flat surface: 1. make circle in the location and the diameter of the hole you want. 2. pushpull the circle through the surface until the far end is flush with the far surface. 3. erase the plane inside the circle. curved surface (or all the way through complex, multifaceted object): 1. put rod through curved surface in the location and in the diameter of the hole you want. 2. merge (or whatever the term is) - in effect, the overlapping parts disappear. So any parts of the surface that are penetrated by the rod are removed, and a new series of facets and surfaces are formed around the rod. 3. delete rod Remember to pay attention (or better yet, directly input) the diameter of the hole in the measurement indicator in the lower right corner.

@ GU-11: you've got a high pain tolerance. I gave up after a few hours of poking it and returned to Sketchup - which, despite its short comings and frustrations, is functional enough that a layman can still fumble through and end up with something halfway decent.

Complete: Gallery: F: Macross F (Frontier) #20: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRgallery/MCRgallery.php#MF - interesting how many fingers were in the pie with one of the images. Mechanic: 7 UN 10A: Macross 7 Fleet: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - slapped up into php, and some spots were revised to make it more comprehensible. Otherwise, the two versions are unchanged.

The only time that the intakes for the main engines have been modified, is with the Super Part equipped VA-3C Kai - and the modification was the addition of propellant storage tanks in the intakes themselves. It only works as the parts are only for use in outer space, where the intakes aren't used.

Another thing to consider is that the legs connect to the mid-point of those blisters. So, consider those counter-verniers as filling dead space in the leading edge of the aerodynamic cowling that covers the hip connectors.

That would be one of the more infamous animation errors. They are officially counter-verniers (or reverse rockets). The VFMF: VF-1 book says that the counter-verniers are only on the early period VF-1. On later period VF-1, they are TACS (Tactical Airborne Camera System). (However, as the VFMF are self-proclaimed as being not part of the official setting...)

Complete! Glossary 05A: S.M.S. - Emiria Jiinasu: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php - In addition to the goodies sprinkled throughout, it describes the fate of the Megaroad-01: not only echoing what the PS1 mail-in stated, but also suggesting a possible current location for it. A must read.

Dengeki Hobby 2013.07 Wasn't planning to pick it up, but as it was at Bookoff for only ¥200... can't beat that price, and especially the timing. I'm really digging the pose-ability of the new VF-1 puramo. I really dig the gun pod strap (looks a might bit easier to assemble and maintain than the cloth strap that comes with the Hasegawa VF-1 battroid kit). The wing hardpoints also look interesting - flat squares are replaced with ones with reinforced holes for the mounting pins. Interesting. Anyhow, attaching picts... EDIT: not that those fine details show up in the picts (the exchangeable hardpoints are the square pieces in the lower left picture). Probably better to take the pictures in the day or a light box. As it's nighttime and I don't have a light box...

MII can be construed as sexualized - as the emulators are basically walking around in bikinis. Aside from that, it should be OK (though you may get questions about the sudden lack of animation quality in the last episode). M7 is probably OK - it's got a great, positive theme - though, it does have space monsters. They might be scary for an 8 year old. However, as they're firmly in the line of the Japanese Sentai monsters (Kamen Rider, Ultraman), most kids should be able to handle them. My 7 year old son loves those, and has since he was 4. As the others have said, perhaps making him wait might be better? Turn it into a reading exercise instead of forcing him to listen to bad-voice overs?

ER/RM++ Project: Character 7 Varohta 01A: Ivano Geperunicchi: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#M7 - interesting. Not a possession per se... History M 04A: The Zentraadi Invasion: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM - the sheet should settle any remaining doubt on the fate of the fold drive (that's annihilation in the physics sense.) More importantly, the revised edition cleans up another one of the creator's of Macross's strange acronyms (see ASS-1, et al.); admittedly it was the original writers of the MC who made the goof...

Thanks for the linky. The line actually reads: "New Unified Government President". As always, it's deliciously vague, but in light of other sources (that provide more info when it comes to the who's and what's), it's safe to say: "The New Unified Government aligned President of the Macross Frontier Fleet" or "the President of the New Unified Government in the Macross Frontier Fleet."

Excellent. It was a number of the top of my head that seemed doable (1 page per day + breaks), and I'm glad it worked out. I think your sister is right... sometimes being a perfectionist actually prevents something from ever being completed. There are 2 options you have: leave it as is (which is great as you'll get it done all that much faster) or hoover the worst passages and spit out something more readable in English (the challenge is deciding what passages are passable and what must be fixed). The only tricks I can suggest are: - don't be afraid to break those monster multi-clause run-on sentences into bite sized ones (convey the idea more than the drama from the sentence structure) - about 50% of the meaning gets lost in translation. No matter what we do, the translation is going to be nothing more than an approximation of the original (or: there's no such thing as a perfect translation). - be decisive: pick the English word that you think best fits the context, and don't look back (second guessing a translation just makes it take all that much longer to finish the whole thing). Ultimately, you're not getting paid by us to do it. As such, it really doesn't matter what translation you end up producing. I think keeping that in mind should alleviate those concerns about capturing Ohnogi's literary style and things getting lost in translation. When you get paid to do it, that's when you can fret about those things.

I think those are buzzwords that have been hanging around since M7 - when adding stealth to something automatically made it cool. Stealth Valkyrie, stealth frigate, stealth cruiser, stealth carrier, stealth brick... Nevertheless, I think it's one of those ideas (like the 6 ships in one thing) that came up during the brainstorming for the series, but never actually appears in the series (ship off on its own). Personally, I would've liked to have seen the asteroid crusher as initially envisioned...

Complete: Mechanic: F NUNS 01A: Macross Frontier: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MF - some new bits of info, and I'm glad that it regurgitates the info that the ship is really composed of 6 smaller ships (something that I thought I must've translated in error when I did the Great Mechanics.DX article a few years back). And to top it off, there's an explanation on the opening of the gun barrel before firing gimmick. ER/RM++ project: Timeline 16A: "Shao Pai Long [Little White Dragon]" Premieres: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - slapped up in php. Complete! Technology 01D: Variable Fighter: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/01dVariableFighter.php - was initially only planning to do the ER/RM, but it turned into a tour de force of not only missile technology and its evolution, but also (and perhaps more importantly) WHY missiles are portrayed and used the way they are in Macross. A must read. ER/RM++ Project: Episode: M07A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 7 "Bye-bye Mars": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/M07ABeps7.php - Surprisingly informative. Not only do we get Kawamori's (historical) thoughts on who the real Miss Macross is, we also get ratings, broadcast preemption, AND an overview of the novel "Hayase Misa's White Reminisce"! (Gubaba was on the right track when he decided to translate the book. Now everyone go read it!) Episode: 711A: Macross 7 Eps. 11 "Minmei Video": http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/711ABeps11.php - this one was also really informative. Not only does it highlight Mikimoto-san's involvement in more than just designing the characters, it also puts the spotlight on Hase Arihito's and Meguro Kousuke's cameos (of sorts) in the episode.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
sketchley replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Maybe it's just that - they couldn't get a better mounting method without compromising the other gimmicks? The hands do fold into their wrists - right where the space for the gun pod's handle is needed, no? And before anyone puts too much thought into it - Bandai has been mounting gun pods to their VFs like that for years. -
Music variety (or lack thereof) in Frontier
sketchley replied to Saruta's topic in Movies and TV Series
Seconded. Of all the Macross series, M7 is the most diverse. Sure, it's ABOUT a rock band, but there are plenty of other musical acts that appear in the series, and, especially, as background music. Ie: the first CD album of the series, "Macross 7 Music Selection From Galaxy Network Chart": even though Fire Bomber is the headline act, 6 other bands are billed on the cover. http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B0016JD6YQ/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0&isremote=0
