  1. Check earlier in this thread. It's already been discussed. For those that can't be bothered to look it up: exprect to buy at least 5 binders.
  2. Those should be only Battle 7 and Battle 25/Frontier. New Macross Class (for 7) and Island Cluster Class (for 25/Frontier) refer to the entire joined ship; both City Ship and Battle Warship. Unless if you're making a comparison between the capabilities of the ships in their entirety. In that case, it's 1) Island Cluster Class 2) New Macross Class 3) Macross Class , simply based on terms of the emmigrant population they carry, and the size of the their City Ships.
  3. Maybe it was wrapped up? Maybe it was just lost in translation? (Or worse, the translations made it seem larger than it really was.) For what we did see, I think it was wrapped up - Aruto got to follow his dream(s) and fly in the wide open skies. His father accepted that that is his son's passion and destiny. Now, ask yourself - did Frontier need a scene of the two meeting, exchange a few pleasantries, talk about things, start to cry, hug, and accept each other? Can you use your imagination from the given cues and figure out their future relationship on your own?
  4. Try Charaberry's Vol.5
  5. It's a joke. Half the text is referring to the rough coloured image of the Monster above, the other half says "drawn by Kawamori Shouji himself. The 3rd body Valkryie (VF-1S?). You can also use it in the "Combat Action" page(s). I believe he's referring to Valkyrie Combat SectionPages 83-92. And it is a joke, considering the other joke images in that section (two VFs kissing, etc.).
  6. That's not to say that the idea didn't exist in someone's imagination. How many master-slave arm power suits (GUGES-D type) (heck, bipedal robots of any kind) do we see in the here and now? Even the power suits in Bubblegum Crisis were originally only an idea, and look where that's gone now - a real life power suit, which has inspired anime (EX gear)! (Though, I'm not trying saying that Bubblegum Crisis originated the idea of power suits.)
  7. Uhm... have you guys ever heard if "import substitution"? It's a perfectly legal way of protecting the infant industries in a country, and was in effect in Korea at the time that the Taekwon V was originally produced. Regarding it's design: keep in mind that it's not designed for us, non-fans of the original series. Perhaps it's best to consider it to be akin to Superman (if superman stopped being published for 30 or so years). One may tweak the design, but one doesn't change it into something new (case in point: Giant Robo, Gundam's Zaku, etc..; or the inverse: the crappy designs for the Hollywood Godzilla and Transformers) As much as the design may be unappealing to us, it's a classic for some.
  8. The novelization differs from the TV series. For example, the VF-171 in the novel are equipped with EX Gear, those in the anime are not.
  9. Come to Japan, and see it in theaters? Learn Japanese?
  10. Glad to see motion capture animation has progressed this far in Korea (you should've seen it back in 2000...) I doubt that Macross will get this level of quality. For starts, Korea is a lot more high tech (as in computers/access points to the internet) than Japan. Production costs are generally significantly cheaper (PPP aside, Korean tend to work longer hours) And, let's keep in mind that Macross robots have jet and gerwalk modes. How can you motion capture those? Not to mention numerous different VF designs. I doubt that the Taekwon V movie will have more than a handful of designs... despite the increased polygon count, it's still easier than three or four different designs in the same shot.
  11. Movie? Baring someone actually getting away with camcording it (less likely than in other countries with a higher rate of ignorance or public warnings), it'll be after the first DVD/BR release or TV broadcast (not likely). I'd say 3 to 6 months from the start of threatrical release. But that's a guesstimate with no facts or info on the actual process.
  12. Cool! Reverse view! Shame that it didn't appear in any of the Design Works books...
  13. Uhm... because it allows them time to rebuild and repair? We don't want something like the transition from season 3 to 4 in "Enterprise" - no chance for the heroes to even relax after defeating the bad guys. No fun! The info is fake. How can one tell? They tell the resolution to the triangle. That reduces the people who want to see the movie significantly.
  14. Puh-lease! When you're going to talk about another culture, put yourself in their shoes, and judge the entertainment produced by and for it, by their cultural values, not yours! The law: http://www.interpol.int/public/Children/Se...ws/csaJapan.asp
  15. The only scans I have of that Charaberry's are: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/BtF/BtFmain.htm (logos and modified background - 50%, blue of the magazine enhanced) http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/BtF/SMS.htm (logos and modified background - 50% yellow/orange of the magazine enhanced) http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/S...Flightsuits.htm (last two images) I think all except for the backgrounds are larger then the html is forcing them to display at.
  16. Perhaps in a non-Macross forum, I could live with this. But as you said, this is a forum "for the Macross geek, by the Macross geek, of the Macross geek".
  17. Quickie review (or how to justify buying Chronicles #6 when you have a bunch of Macross Books on the shelf): Note: this is all ignoring the Japanese text, which may or may not be the same as in the books mentioned, as well as images from the animation. *Gallery Sheet - Mikimoto artwork - big piece is something that I haven't seen before. Calendar? The inside two are from a "Macross Perfecto Memory" Mook. *Factory Satellite: Perfect Memory (the comparison in size to the Earth is groovy. The focusing on the fold drives on the bottom left of the reverse is wonderful. Love the sheer size of those drives!) * VF-19 Kai - new Tenjin Hidetaka art. Rest from Macross 7 Animation Materials. *Queadluun-Rau - TIA:DYRL * Mireena Furea Jiinasu - M7 Animation Materials * People of SNN - TIA:MII * Timeline 2x - only one lineart! From Perfect Memory, TIA:SDFM上,... *SDF-1 Launch ceremonies (history sheet) - AWESOME new picture by Kinoshita Tomotaka. Reverse has line art from Perfect Memory (one piece has been colourized, clarifying the stage, exhibition space, runway, HLLV, spaceshuttle) * Variable Fighter (Tech sheet) - eyebleedingly awesome(!!!) new picture by Kinoshita Tomotaka of a VF-1A tawny being loaded with FAST packs. Reverse contains lineart from MP, M7AM, SKMSW, and the VF-25's sniper rifle (already published in Newtype and Great Mechanics.DX) * Mikimoto Haruhiko (makers sheet) - rough, preproduction art all found in Perfect Memory. *song sheet - lyrics in the Ranka Rii single *Macross Ace Frontier (goods sheet) new Quickie translation on the gunpod: VF-22 (YF-21) uses caseless ammo. VF-25G Sniper Rifle: gun powder and railgun for maximum barrel acceleration, requiring the stablizers. A shock-gunpod was also developed for nondestructive and arrest. Ace Frontier pictured mecha: VF-1. VF-22, VF-19Kai, VF-27, VF-25F, YF-19, YF-21, VF-11, Fz-109, VF-1S Strike, VF-1S Super, VF-25G, Red Vajra, Queadluun-Rau, Queadluun-Rae, HWR-00 MkI Monster, and Sv-51!
  18. it 'twas just a visual representation of Vajra (going to?) mate.
  19. I understood the line as "I haven't given up the fight for him"... and he did choose the sky, btw.
  20. Uhm... I wasn't refering to the source of Sinsen/Shinsen... but about the other stuff. You know, using a Super Long Range Emmigration Class ship to colonized a short range world... I suggest that you don't try and speak for the majority of fans, as you are not them. PS try reading the compendium. Not only is it canon, it also mentions short-range emmigration fleets. Not reading up on Macross lore is your problem, not mine.
  21. Good eyes. I think it looks like Chronicle does have a typo, as in the timeline, there's no mention of the VF type he's in during that particular part of the timeline. In addition, earlier it mentions him in a VF-1S. Mind you, we'll have to wait another few months (years?) until the Roy Fokker page is printed to get full clarification.
  22. Agreed. Specifically regarding the si vs shi, that's a common error amongst all Japanese. Compare the し (shi/si) in: Hepburn (by an English speaker) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepburn_roman...on#For_hiragana to Nihon-Siki (shiki) (by a Japanese speaker) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihon-shiki In this case, it's just middle (Jr high) and high school lessons being applied, and not a misunderstanding of English. Re: publication errors - that's why I'm providing multiple sources and multiple pages from the same source. And Mark, I'm still waiting for your source(s) - in addition to the opening recap.
  23. The question I have is, is it the SDF:M Super Valkyrie, or the DYRL version? (Or even the M7 one... or the M7 Dynamite one? Though as we've already seen a mention of the M7 appearance, I doubt they'd devote a whole additional sheet to it.)
  24. Again, no Prometheus or ARMD? 1997's (SS) / 1999's (PS1) SDF:M, DYRL? (both ships) 2000's (PS1) M+ Game edition (cool, as in the vs mode you can smash your opponent on the surface of an ARMD!) 2003's (PS2) SDF:M As all of these are released in the same time frame, they are equally valid.
  25. Your logic is flawed. It doesn't take into consideration animation mistakes, second party errors (ie the animation studio that Statelite contracts out to), and storytelling compromises needed to speed up the pace and/or get the point across. I'm not sure if it has been pointed out herein, but Macross Chronicle's descriptions are being supervised by Shoji Kawamori.
