Good eyes. I think it looks like Chronicle does have a typo, as in the timeline, there's no mention of the VF type he's in during that particular part of the timeline. In addition, earlier it mentions him in a VF-1S. Mind you, we'll have to wait another few months (years?) until the Roy Fokker page is printed to get full clarification.

Agreed. Specifically regarding the si vs shi, that's a common error amongst all Japanese. Compare the し (shi/si) in: Hepburn (by an English speaker) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepburn_roman...on#For_hiragana to Nihon-Siki (shiki) (by a Japanese speaker) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihon-shiki In this case, it's just middle (Jr high) and high school lessons being applied, and not a misunderstanding of English. Re: publication errors - that's why I'm providing multiple sources and multiple pages from the same source. And Mark, I'm still waiting for your source(s) - in addition to the opening recap.

About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The question I have is, is it the SDF:M Super Valkyrie, or the DYRL version? (Or even the M7 one... or the M7 Dynamite one? Though as we've already seen a mention of the M7 appearance, I doubt they'd devote a whole additional sheet to it.) -
Which is your favorite game Valkyrie Carrier?
sketchley replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
Again, no Prometheus or ARMD? 1997's (SS) / 1999's (PS1) SDF:M, DYRL? (both ships) 2000's (PS1) M+ Game edition (cool, as in the vs mode you can smash your opponent on the surface of an ARMD!) 2003's (PS2) SDF:M As all of these are released in the same time frame, they are equally valid. -
Your logic is flawed. It doesn't take into consideration animation mistakes, second party errors (ie the animation studio that Statelite contracts out to), and storytelling compromises needed to speed up the pace and/or get the point across. I'm not sure if it has been pointed out herein, but Macross Chronicle's descriptions are being supervised by Shoji Kawamori.

Please state your source(s). If it's only the beginning recap of Macross Frontier, see Radd's post. My source: MC Worldguide Sheet 20a (04-21), published 2008.09.18 Article states: discovered by a short range emmigration fleet in November 2013 and colonization begins thereafter. Next date mentioned in the article: 2020 - the establishment of a military flight test centre. Next date: 2040 - at the same flight test centere, there's the YF-19 and YF-21 competition. Next date: 2059 - regarding the Eden Hyudra (Hydra?) that went crazy on the MF fleet. No mention of a super long range emmigration colony ship being used to colonize it (a Megaroad class in other words) No mention of 2014 No mention of the Megaroad 4, period. Which then prompts the question: why would a ship designed to carry "thousands to 10 thousands of emmigrants"* on a multi-year mission to a super long distant planet be used to colonize a planet that is only "1 to 2 folds and 18 to 24 hours"** away from Earth? It's highly illogical and a waste of limited resources... *MC Worldguide Sheet 13a (01-22), published 2008.08.07 ** MC Worldguide Sheet 20a (04-21), published 2008.09.18

*cough* Macross Chronicle *cough* did you read the link in the compendium that says it's canon as of 2008?

What is with Frontier with old crippled people?

Because Japan has a rapidly aging population and it's a fact of life? -
A short-range emmigration fleet found and colonized Eden. http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2013 I feel like I'm repeating myself, as this is the 2nd or 3rd time in the past week or two that I've said this on these forums.

Well, it's the same with the {insert action movie name and hero here} never runs out of ammo. I think the most implossible one is the never-ending, yet 200 r carrying GU-11 of the VF-1. After that, ammo loads increased, and clips became replaceable. At least with those gun pods we have the off-screen excuse of ammo clips being changed. I'm actually curious why 58 mm was chosen (unless if it's a typo and it should be 55 mm). Is there some real world significance? A number? Numerology gives us a 4. 4th main VF? (VF-1, VF-4, VF-11, VF-171???) -
The kanji used for Space War I is the same as the one used for World War 1 (except for one kanji, which changes things from earth (not Earth) to space. Therefore, the conflict would have to be on a similar level - the majority of the human territories would have to be involved with great destruction. Varuta? Vajra? Neither fit that bill.

With some duct-tape. Ready to go! (Just don't transform) -
Shouta = [AiA I-Z]? Well, given my (limited) Japanese abilities and the English words used in the translation, yours has been the most accurate subs so far. Personally, I think translating by ear is a bit better, as there are things like emotion, tone of voice, etc. that are not present in a script.

Maybe they just never get around to it. "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to fire those shoulder guns here?" "Yeah." Next script meeting, "screw the shoulder guns! Let's animate another main gun shot!" "Yeah!" -
BTW, New Macross Class refers to the entire ship. For example, the New Macross Class 7 is "(about) 7770 m" in length. Chronicle even points out that the New Macross Class is composed of the Battle Warship, and the City Ship.

Yes, Japanese can be vague at times. 銀河 could be translated as the Milky Way, (a) Galaxy, or even Galaxies, depending on the context. As the context was a pair of galaxies with Vajra of two different colours heading towards each other, I take it to have meant different galaxies. Add to that their Super dimensional nature, they may very well be travelling to other dimensions as well!
-
Predate? Highly probably. In the Milky Way galaxy before the Protocultures? Not clear. Given that the Vajra are attracted to humans by song, it's entirely possible that the Vajra were initially attracted to the Milky Way galaxy by the Protoculture's song. We will have to wait until further materials are released before this is clarified. And Nexx Stalker is right. As nice as [gg] are for being fast, they are not always the most accurate. Personally, I prefer [shinsen-subs], as they are the most accurate out of the ones currently available. Sadly, the ones who were the most accurate, [AiA I-Z], stopped at episode 10...

Does it still have ventral lasers? I see the inclusion of 2 pairs of internal launchers in the dorsal section, in addition to the big cannon and the super parts. I won't have the time to go frame by frame for a few days, so... did anyone spot the ventral missile launcher and the pair of beam weapons that are on the other 2050's era Ghosts? -
By a short range emmigration fleet, as well.
-
By the information currently available, it appears that the Megaroad fleets were composed of the following: 1x Megaroad (flagship, home to the emmigrants) 1x Macross (battleship, lead combat ship, etc.) ??x Zentraedi ships (escorts, explorers, recon, etc.) What is not clear is the content of the Zentraedi ships. Were they full of humans and micronized Zentraedi piloting VFs? Were they a mix of humans in VFs and full sized Zentraedi in Zentraedi mecha? Were they primarily full-sized with only Zentraedi mecha? Given that they have the Factory Satellite, it'd be easy to mass produce the Zentraedi ships, mecha, and mass clone the Zentraedi themselves. But as the cloning machinery was being used to mass-clone humanity to (attempt) to restore it to pre-SWI levels... I think you can start to appreciate the confusion.

All the Ghosts from all the series? (They had them way back in SDF:M and M0), or are you referring to the ones only in MF? Or MF and M+ and VF-X2? -

As a fellow Canadian, I'm quite disappointed that you consider metric as being unusual. Some fun quotes: [1] - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_system - http://www.globalsecurity.org/org/news/200...0303-metric.htm -
Ah, but one must keep in mind that the fortress in Super Dimension Fortress may be in reference to the state of the ship when it is in the super dimension. It may also represent the protection given to the emmigrants inside of the ship.

Nope. Island Cluster type - 5th generation of giant immigration fleet (第5世代型巨大移民船団) and in the smaller text next to a picture from FB2012 - Megaroad Class - first super long range emmigration Fleet (第一次移民船団) Therefore, the article says that's there's been 5 generations of giant emmigration fleet , but doesn't say that there's been 5 different classes of long range emmigration ships. As the title of that section of the article is "Kinds of Super Long Range Emmigration Ship and Fleet Composition" (超長距離移民船の種類と船団構成) we know that the article isn't about the generations of giant emmigration fleet. I expect further articles to clarify, and I won't be surprised if the Macross Galaxy type of fleet is included in such an article. Nevertheless, the point of my post (#19) was to clarify to Redwolf the source of my information, and put an end to that wild speculation.
