I've translated the Chronicle sheet on the Macross 5 fleet (now, if only I can make time to type it up...) It's neither an animation error nor additional fleets combined into one. There is 1, and only 1 set of "City 5 & Battle 5", with more than one ship (I believe the term used is "a plurality") of similar designed [shaped] ships in the fleet (going by the animation, that would be 2) in the fleet. No where that I have seen has indicated that the Super Long Range Emigration plan has been stopped after the launch of Macross 25; which is also known as the 55th Super Long Range Emigration Fleet and the ?13th? Large Scale (Island Cluster Class?) Emigration Fleet.* What has, and continues to be stated, in numerous sources, is that the Super Long Range Emigration fleets continue to be launched at a rate of one or two fleets per year. Macross 25, the 55th such fleet, supports the statement, even if the fleet was launched in 2059 (which we know it wasn't.) *I'm putting in question marks because I haven't found a source that confirms that number. The source I am using is Macross Galaxy Fleet being the 9th Large Scale Emigration Fleet. See Compendium article.

Just double checked. Indeed, it's not on the [Q-R] raw. However, it's been added into the [AiA I-Z] sub.

Was rewatching the first episode, and I payed attention to the eyecatch (you know, the Nyan-nyan CM). The text says: "Thanks to you 50th anniversary MSG* tuna mandu** Zentoradon*** All sorts of party/banquet plans can be arranged" *I'm not sure if it is intended to mean monosodium glutamate (in that case, 2008 would've had it's 100 year anniversary), the in-series 50th anniversary of the Nyan-nyan restuarant, MSG being shorthand for message (and it's thanking us viewers), or all of the above. ** which later shows up in the series as Ranka's faux breasts. *** Technically it should be Zentora-don (Zentra-rice bowl). Funny play on words (Zentradi + donburi)

And as the arm loops all the way around the galaxy at least once, relying on it alone is misleading. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...ay_Arms.svg.png Nevertheless, it's both an interesting fun fact from the series (the fleet is in the Sagittarius arm in the vicinity of the galactic core) but comes across as redundant when one thinks about it (as the Macross Galaxy Fleet, which the transport departed from, is in the same arm...)

Added a map of the Macross Galaxy (yeah... entries are limited, but I wanted to do only one thing - convey the awesome scale of the distances involved). Locations of everything except for the Eta Carinae Nebula is arbitrary (and even then, I'm not sure if I got the right location... the distance is estimated, but should be correct at 7,500 ly from Earth. All of the planets near the galactic core are, as per the original text, "in the vicinity of the core". However, given the lack of glowing dust in the outer space shots in the various animations, and there not having been a threat from the super massive blackhole, I've placed them in a compromise postion; both near the core, but a safe (and non-glowing sky) distance away from it. Due to the limitations of the map, the various planetary systems from M7 and MF are placed at a distance to be legible. They should be considered to be spaced more closely together. The Green circle inside of the white ring labeled "Sun" is the roughly 100 ly radius from Earth that the Short-Range Emigration Fleets were sent out into. Which is a riot. Followed by it sending out a horde of turd-like destroids. Which is a genuine ROFLMAO moment.

Erm... isn't the charm of this forum precisely because it's "limited" to Macross content? There are a bunch of laissez-faire forums out there, why turn Macross World into a clone of them?

About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It does, this latest issue (#15). It's not much, and is about the same amount and content as in previous releases of the MF space vessels. The making sheet will probably be a continuation of his biography (works between DYRL & M+/7 and/or up to the present) or about where the idea for (the) Valkyries comes from. Anyhow, regarding #15: The Macross 7 "transports" are the small (personal?) spacecraft occasionally seen parked in the background or used by the Varauta in the series. The VF-0S is a B sheet, highlighting the "Angel" version on the front, and the "Reactive Armour" on the reverse. Some new images of the "Angel" VF-0, but it's all CG... The history is of the raid to capture the factory satellite, battle with malcontent Zentraedi in Traddo city, and ends with the fight to get the resizing chamber. Next issue is... Kamjin's last battle/end of SDFM??? The history sheet (Zentraedi attack/raid?) has a cool main image - though I think the Regult is waaay out of scale. The worldguide sheet has me scratching my head. Shouldn't it have been a fold out page? The two page spread map of Island 1 deserves it! Regarding content, glancing at it, I think it's got double the number of things mentioned, but any one entry is less than half the text written about it in other publications... -
Wasn't Firefox made after Robotech was released, thereby disqualifying it? If one wants the ultimate "thinking cap", then "Neuromancer" (the book) is the way to go. Wait, didn't that book introduce the concept of cyberspace, the ultimate "thinking cap"?

IMHO, Great Mechanics.DX is a slightly better source - in that it's published much less frequently for about the same price per issue, and has a lot of official text printed with lineart and other images. They're also packed full of official mecha info and lineart from a bunch of other series (usually a lot of Gundam) as well. The image sizes are smaller, but if space and cost are an issue, it's a better investment.

Re calling: tough beans. Re searching: see 5th entry "Welcome to the Otaku mail order shopping site" http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=macross...;fp=Rhq7p-mUk-o What search string are you using?

This is probably the best review of the series that I've read. Kudos. It's also pointing out a lot of stuff that I think the average reader missed during it's original monthly release. I didn't really notice how jarring Lt. Nicks and Praxa are to the story, nor their reintroductions. I actually thought it was kind of fun at the time (referring to Lt. Nicks here, as I can't honestly say I remember Praxa). Anyhow, thanks to those participating in this thread, it's brought back some good memories (which has inversely made me afraid to go back and reread the books, because memory tends to make things better than they actually were/are, right? )

Me too!

Not that I know of, because anything new added to the series is "derived" from something. However, the majority of the characters and about half of the mecha in the Sentinels are original. Some others (Hikaru/Rick, Misa/Lisa, Buriitai/Breetai) have been revisualized, as well. Other than that, the best source for original designs are the comics. "Malcontent Uprising", "Invid War", and "Worlds Of Robotech"* are the ones that come to my mind at the moment. *Not quite sure if that's the exact name. Too lazy to search for it right now...

I'm referring to "Knights of the Sky". It is true that the project did evolve into something else (Escaflowne), but the initial "Knights of the Sky" vision of the project died.

Live in Japan. No need for me to rely on English to acquire it... let alone the net... Nevertheless, I don't want to sound condescending, but... do you (meant in the plural form in the sense of people with access to the internet posting questions like this) know how to use a search engine, like Google? I mean, it took me less than 5 seconds, using "macross frontier official fan book", to find an English supplier, using the English version of Google. It actually took me longer to switch Google to English than it did to perform the search... So yeah, I can understand if you've searched for it, and haven't had any luck... but haven't bothered searching at all? It probably took longer to type the question than it does to complete the search... Also... don't bookstores in your area have telephone numbers???

Who's VF-4? If it's mine, it should only be here: http://studiootaking.deviantart.com/gallery/#VF-Action If it is mine, it's in violation of the TOS: http://about.deviantart.com/policy/service/ and the person or persons distributing it will be hexed with spite.

One could say that the Y/VF-19 is the ultimate resurrection of the VF-9. Though, I think it may just be a case of recycling good ideas from failed projects. Heck, the main Varauta VF came from a failed series!
-
It's in the "Super Dimension(al) History" of Macross section. It does not say anything expressly stating that it is canon. However, in Big West's viewpoint, it's always been canon (as in, a Macross production.) Studio Nue's canon... hasn't been changed.

If one checks "Perfect Memory", there are references to New UN Spacy (NUNS) in that too. Now, the question is: is it "new UN Spacy" (as in post-SWI, humanity is rebuilding, we are the renewed/reorganized UNS), or "New UN Spacy" (where the adjective is permanently part of the name, as in New York city.) Macross F is clearly New UN Spacy. Macross II? See the Lone Wolf's posts and attached images.

If it was out of print, maybe. However, with a newly released publication, especially one that we want more similar products produced of, no. Go buy yourself a copy and support the cause, kid.

I think this is the most creative name butchering to date.
