  1. Gah! ... well, I still have hope, as SG1 was cancelled by 1 network, and picked up by another. Of course, MGM's woes are the wild card...
  2. Great Mechanic.DX #15 is out, with a sizable Macross content: Macross Pinpoint Mechanics feature is: Macross Warships (SDF-1, SDF-2, Megaroad Class, Battle Class, Macross Quarter Class) and the branching of Megaroad/New Macross Class/Island Cluster Class and SDF-2/Battle Class/Macross Quarter Class. A new feature article: Tenjin's Drool. An interview focused on his Destroid paintings. Last is a whopping 4 pages of drool inducing colour picts of the 1/72 Wave Tomahawk.
  3. yes. See: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34060
  4. The other things we have to consider are: a) the images to date are of an unfinished design sketch AND work-in-progress low-end model (¥1,200 a pop is darn cheap, compared to the ¥6,000+ for the fully transformable kits) b) it's an experimental design (the YF designation) c) lack of finishing on the images released to date (shading, colouring, etc.) Who knows, it might have a positively lethal looking battroid. Let's wait until some more finished artwork is released.
  5. Gah! The GA Graphic HP is saying "From 12.22"!!
  6. Apparently it's being released on or after Dec. 24. Nevertheless, we gots piccies of the cover: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%B4%E3%82%A1%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%BB%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB-VF-1%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC-%E5%AE%87%E5%AE%99%E3%81%AE%E7%BF%BC-VF-1%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC-Vol-2-GA-Graphic%E7%B7%A8%E9%9B%86%E9%83%A8/dp/4797356944
  7. Not a moderator, but there are a couple of things that moderators take into consideration when closing topics. Size: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showforum=37 Topics that already have an existing topic or topics that due to their small size should be in a catch-all topic: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34225&view=findpost&p=883265 Not sticking to the topic: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=33991&view=findpost&p=884407 Reopening topics that were locked by moderators: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34277&view=findpost&p=884457 So, maybe a better thing to be asking is what are the site's rules (Seto answered that), and are the moderators going beyond their responsibilities of moderating (ie enforcing the site's rules, reducing clutter, maintaining sense of topics, and keeping the server from slowing down too much (or worse, crashing!), and keeping the peace amongst the membership)?
  8. I'll raise that with: bath tubs that don't have anti-slip coatings installed by the bathtub maker. I swear, it's all a conspiracy by the suction cup bathmat makers to make more $$$ at the expense of those who don't regularly replace their suction cup bathmats!
  9. sketchley

    Yamato 1/60 VF-X

Glad someone other than me spotted that. They are reverse thrusters - same as the nose ones (though, if VFMF:VF-1 is anything to go by, the nose reverse thrusters were replaced by cameras at some point.) NO LASERS.
  10. Erm, my impression is that it follows the Air Self-Defence Force designations (which can be argued that the A-SDF follows NATO/US designations quite closely). As for a double suffix in use by the A-SDF: F-4EJ See text body of: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/about/equipment/sentouki/F-4/ Therefore, isn't it likely that the double suffix nomenclature is a nickname of the source company and/or manufacturer, but is the standard name and/or official name in the countries that actually used/made the equipment?
  11. Don't forget (and apologies if someone already posted it): VF-1A+ (VF-1A Plus), 1B+, 1D+, J+, 1S+, 1X+ VT-1C+ (Not sure if the plus is supposed to be written long form or short form. If it's long, then that's a 5 letter suffix; tying the VF-11MAXL Kai (Kai being a single letter in Japanese).
  12. ? VF-19E VF-19E Kai "Basara Nekki Custom" Fire Valkyrie VF-19EF VF-19EFs All exist. Not sure how you're interpreting "derivative of" as meaning "replacement of".
  13. Looks like it. "new valkyrie for the Macross F theatrical version". "1/100 scale plastic model, YF-29 Aruto's craft (tentative)", 1260 yen, by Bandai. Says something about the fighter configuration being based on the VF-25 and forward canards. Text is really too small to read.
  14. Got another one: JPEG Why did it get chosen as a standard format? Now I have two digital cameras, 8.1 and 5.0 (I believe) megapixels, yet when they save, a huge chunk of that resolution is lost because of the format. Alternative saving formats, you ask? Why that's not an option provided by the manufacturer, because us consumers aren't smart enough to figure out how to convert images to internet friendly formats or something.
  15. battroid mode: missiles on forearms and legs. Concept art. Finished art. Finished splitting hairs yet?
  16. Where are you getting VF-X-4 from? The bottom half of Pg 66 is clearly the VF-4. ... and didn't I provide a linky to an image of a finished design for the VF-4 from the period of it's initial release?
  17. 1) 3D What's the point? If I want to see stuff in 3D, I stop looking at a TV or movie screen, and walk around outside. Reality rocks! (... and it goes without saying that truth is stranger than fiction.) 2) full body scanners & airport finger-printing The former is not only a violation of privacy, but a health hazard, the later is a major disincentive to travel. I'll spend my vacation money in countries that don't automatically assume I'm a criminal, thank you. 3) DRM. 4) stupid names that the marketing execs at Apple come up with, coupled with the smug attitudes perpetuated by their CMs. 5) ... not really technology per se, but the entire advertising industry that perpetuates the myth that you won't be happy unless you have the latest piece of technology; when you don't need it at all. And especially as there's always another new thing or 100 waiting in the wings. You'll never be happy! (... of course one could add the sensationalist news media with story tag-lines like "what you don't know might kill you..." Ugh!)
  18. Erm, then what's the point of racing a VF? Let me remind you of the GERWALK mode slalom racing illo I already mentioned.
  19. For two, look at page 66. And here's a link to a finished illo from one of those roughs released around the time of FB2012. Now, where does it say "finished artwork design" equals "idea for transformation"?
  20. "Hobby Hand Book". Source of things like alternative heads for the Phalanx and line art & name of the VEFR-1. Of course, given the revisions in Macross Chronicle (it's indicated that the ETs have been written out of the timeline and replaced by the Cheyenne), and VFMF:VF-1 (the VF-1G designation apparently having replaced VEFR-1), it's a bit of a question if the "FAST Packs" of the QF-3000E and variant Phalanx heads are still canon or not.
  21. Complete with "FAST packs". (Technically the sensor balls and the fuel tanks are different).
  22. Don't forget the: EVA-3 EC-33B Disk Sensor ES-11D Cat's Eye RC-4E Rabbit (nominally a rescue-type vehicle, but some recon specialized models are elluded to be in existance) and the recon specialized Ghost fighters (QF-2200, QF-3000E & QF-4000) Technically all of the RVF types are dedicated recon VFs (RVF-171, 171EX, 25).
  23. If I understand it correctly, it was a deliberate, creative choice by Kawamori Shouji; something about getting back to a VF-1 style hero-mecha or something. I agree that it also seems like a step backwards. But on the other hand, if we take into consideration that emigrant fleet & planets are usually less advanced than the Earth or core Unified Government Forces equipment, and that the VF-25 is designed to operate primarily in space with Super Parts full of micro-missiles, it makes a bit more sense. I guess the other factor that shouldn't be overlooked is that the engines are literally a next generation type. They're bound to take up more internal space than the preceeding generation of thermonuclear engine; precluding the room for internal micro-missile launchers in the engine nacelles. The other major new technology introduced, the ISC equipment, most likely consumes the remaining internal space, too.
  24. What he said. Not sure if it's been mentioned in MW already or not, but the male lead character races the VF-1. Which says quite a lot about him/the novelization, IMHO.
  25. terrorist = freedom fighter It all depends on what side of the political fence one sits. Probably the best example would be Nelson Mandela: when he was sentenced to life imprisonment, he was labelled a terrorist. When he was freed and made president, he was labelled a freedom fighter. All for the same actions. So, yeah, what SK said: as long as the story is told from the main authorities POV, opposing groups will tend to be labelled "rebels" and "terrorists".
