  1. Excellent stuff. You've presented a number of excellent modelling/painting techniques that I wish I had the time to use on a pair of Macross kits gathering dust in the closet.
  2. +1
  3. It's just a sad justification - the sense of entitlement (I fan! Give free!) and placing the responsibility on Big West's shoulders - are Big West even involved in distributing domestically? Sure they may be the sponsors and copyright holders, but do they distribute Macross?
  4. obligatory post to get more picts
  5. So, support Macross by BUYING it. When people realize that there's money to made in English speaking markets, they are going to spend money to create materials specifically for the English speaking markets. By not buying and making available/downloading (aka stealing) the material, you're not only killing the chance for a professional English version, you're also hurting it in the domestic market and any non-English speaking markets it's been, being or soon to be released in.
  6. The animated segments and opening were re-released on the 20th anniversary DVD. So, it isn't completely unavailable outside of the PS1.
  7. More picts please!
  8. Agreed. Also, I don't think that Kawamori-san et al like to recycle stories that much. Sure, there are movie versions of SDFM and MF, but they are somewhat to substantially new material. I look forward to the next Macross production, but I fear it's going to be similar to what Macross F has ended up becoming.
  9. I'll agree that there was too much time between episodes, but that's not the main reason why it wasn't popular (in Japan). If memory serves, the toys & models were more popular than the series...
  10. Alas, M7 just isn't where it's at anymore. If there is going to be a sequel of anything, it'd most likely be MF.
  11. I'm going to call this past bout of translation the "ARMD-II class translations": http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2668.msg41528#msg41528 As the opening pages of the Fitz Roy section looked to be loaded with nuggets of info, I went ahead and translated it all. Interesting set up, with some new variant fighters (not just VFs!) Probably the other major find is the info on when the Guantanamo class Stealth Carrier entered production, and it's rate for the first decade.
  12. This is a good point. I'd also recommend waiting until there's a Variable Fighter Master File produced for the VF-4, 11, etc. before making any definitive statements. I have no doubt that command specification versions exist, as well as a whole host of other varations, but due to time/space/story limitations, we haven't been shown them. Heck, we still haven't been shown the designs of the VF-5, VF-16, etc..
  13. They already have that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Improvised_firearm#Repeating_and_automatic_designs
  14. There might be, in select cities (well, maybe not a museum). Where are you planning to go to, exactly? Japan's a big country, and without specifics, it's hard to answer specifically.
  15. I see at least one micro-missile launcher port on the leg packs, and a dorsal hatch on the wing additions - internal missile spam launcher? The underside gives the impression of an intake. The fronts also give the impression of either 4 micro-missile launcher ports or a beam weapon of some kind. Though it might be some kind of fold speaker or fold attack weapon. The gun pod looks like a VF-27 type. From the changes on the nose details, I get the impression that it might possess an enhanced ISC system.
  16. (dusts off topic) started translating this: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2683.0
  17. I think the only Macross related thing that you can experience, pretty much in any major population center at pretty much any time, is the second Macross Frontier movie, which should still be playing during the last week of March. Here's a list of theatres scheduled to play it at opening (it's not guaranteed that they'll still be playing a month later): http://www.macrossf.com/movie2/theater.html
  18. I'm not sure how involved Kawamori-san is with these designs, other than (editorial) supervision. As Tenjin Hidetaka came up with the redesign artwork, I believe credit goes to him. As for a connection to the F-14... unsure. The nuance in the translation is that it's simply a ploy used in racing. Might be based on the F-14, might not.
  19. There are a few. Use this list: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/Statistics.htm#Variable_Fighters You'll have to go one by one. They're generally listed under "variants" under "RPG Stats" (Ie SV-52γ "Crimson Rose"). Sometimes under "Background" (Ie the VF-4 having been called Siren and Lightning (without III)).
  20. It was. See linky in signature > other > Dengeki Hobby > 2011.03
  21. Completed: Mechanic: SDFM UN 14a: ARMD http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2682.msg41492#msg41492
  22. True. If memory serves, the Tornado Pack had optional space-use under-wing fuel pods that also doubled as Itano-Circus missile pods.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythBusters_%282004_season%29#Talking_to_Plants So, there's a bit of hard science behind it. Mileage varies.
  24. Isn't that a kind of gravity drive?
