Article: Japan nuclear crisis: Radiation spike report 'mistaken': http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12875327

No dimensional data, but the artist has put it next to microns, and uses it to transport a macron-Zentraadi in an under-slung pod. So one does get a sense of scale. That said, I wouldn't put too much faith in the article, as it's consistently been akin to kit-bashed models, and not really factual. Even the shape of the VF-X-10 is heretofore unseen. At first I thought I was looking at the Pheyos Valkyrie!

Oh... kay... I can understand being marvelled with technology and wanting to tell your friends, family and maybe even your coworkers. But to put it on a company news site? It's just unprofessional. All the more so because either a) they're giving free publicity to the drive makers, or b) have failed to get sponsorship from the drive maker to get it for reduced or no cost! Professional with a capital UN.

Contents roundup Macross Ace Vol.008: Macross F "Wings of Goodbye" article. Bunch of groovy images. Some of the highlights are: Macross the First #8 The art is as excellent as always. This time its... Mechatronics It looks like either the artist has been changed, or the artist has become really sloppy and/or rushed. And who puts the focal point of a 2 page spread right in the center margin?!? Macross First Contact Looks interest. Probably because it's about Zentraadi in the First Interstellar War era. I just can't get enough of Zentraadi in Rigaado. Macross Plus #04 Artwork hasn't improved (though, it hasn't gotten worse, either). Story isn't bothering to embellish events like Macross the First is. A shame, as the base story has a lot of potential places to embellish. Macross Goods News YF-29 DX Chougoukin: looks like the back beam gun assembly can pivot when deployed, as there's a circular part that looks like a swivel joint. Though, the whole thing is attached to a single arm that looks flimsy (ie take care when pivoting). 2-page ad for Valkyries 2nd Sortie If you need a preview of the book, or just can't afford it, this is the best depiction of the content in print form that I've seen so far. 3x PSP stickers. Not my cup of tea, but if you want to decorate your PSP... they're Macross F themed. 9 Number Maniacs The artwork is satisfactory. But man-oh-man, it's all about forward swept winged VFs. It's a keeper for one reason: Max and Miria piloted VF-9 taking on a Queadluun-Rau. (I think I'm going to call this week the week of the VF-9. That craft is EVERYWHERE right now.) Forward Swept-wing VF genealogy Neat 3-page article on the VF-X-10, VF-9, YF-19, VF-19 & YF-29. Some specs, too. Macross 7th Code The manga with the next best art, after Macross the First of course, IMHO. More Basara Nekkei. Definitely capturing the Macross 7 energy (though, I'm not a fan of M7, I like this one. Hmmm....) Itano Circus Itano Ichiro interview. D.A.S.T.! 'nuff said. Some interesting ads in this one. Probably the most interesting is a 3 pager to get readers up to speed on Ecole du Ciel. And... http://www.jrc.or.jp. Support. ... and, once more, no indication on when the next issue will be published. That box has been preempted, once more, for a message about "the wings of goodbye"... >.<

You missed the point. IT COSTS MONEY. It doesn't matter if they have production-facilities and staff. They still have to pay for it. Even if it's only 10 man-hours worth of work, it's still an extra cost.

Uhm, no. Unless if you want mumbo-jumbo speak.* Until they know that they will get a return on their investment, they won't bother laying down a single yen to get non-Japanese subtitles on their discs (I've even heard that some anime doesn't even have Japanese subtitles! Can't confirm it.) *One site I just checked has a rate of $0.16 USD per (English) word, 1,000 word minimum; and no indication of rush-fees. On top of that you have to get people to do the programming, timing, and also get the graphic designers to create screens in English for the English-only speakers to interact with. And is there going to be separate packaging - as I highly doubt that DVDs and BDs with no or little English on them will sell very well. More money.

Read my signature. Gah! (Falls off chair) Now they're not even bothering to put the specs in the magazine?! EDIT: the airframe explanations are also longer on the homepage then the magazine. They also differ after the first couple of lines. (off to translate the internet ones).

It is a thing of beauty. Awesome magazine for producing such an awesome feature article. Combined with the release of Macross the Ride, today's an awesome Macross day with, low and behold, an SDFM DESTROID on the bookshelves!

This month is teh sex! Article is approximately double the preceding 4 instalments. 2 full-colour pages YF-25 Prophecy Battroid. 2 full-colour pages Queadlunn-Rau 1 page bathing suit beauty collection & mechanic (Emigrant & Environment Ships) 1 page splash VF-9 vs VF-4SL 2 pages reintroducing the Vanquish Races (aka Macross the Ride Perfect Guide) - with photographs of VT-1C (unpainted), Regult (painted) AND VF-11 (2x, painted!) 2 full-colour pages VF-9E Cutlass fighter and GERWALK (sorry, no stats this month. I believe it's saying the engines are upgraded to those in the VF-22!!!) 1 full-colour page VF-4SL (Talos is correct. Atmospheric version stripped of the upper nacelles (no arms in battroid, nor rocket boosters) Given the increased page count, it's safe to say that the sales blurb on the homepage is right - Macross the Ride IS very popular. This is also followed by 3 pages on the 1/100 YF-29, 1/100 VF-25, 1/72 VF-25 Tornado Pack, and YF-29 DX Chougoukin. Teh sex. You haven't been reading my translations, have you? Oscar Brauhitsch's VF-19A is fielded by Shinsei. It's implied that other manufacturers are fielded VFs in the races - the majority are doing so secretly. So, I wouldn't be surprised if a General Galaxy sponsored VF shows up sooner or later.

Variable Fighter Master File VF-25 Messiah
sketchley replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Movies and TV Series
To be honest, I don't think it's because of the earthquake. The creative staff are either overambitious in their initial deadline estimates, or get bogged down with other stuff and can't complete their assignments by the deadline. These month - 2 month delays have been consistent from the start of this series. T.T It sucks. -
Today is Macross day at the bookstores. Dengeki Hobby 2011.05: Macross the Ride - article size has doubled. 3 times as many vehicles featured! Model Graphix 2011.05: Macross Defender on the cover. Eyes crying with joy. LARGE interview with Kazutaka Miyatake. Here's the cover: http://www.amazon.co.jp/Model-Graphix-%E3%83%A2%E3%83%87%E3%83%AB%E3%82%B0%E3%83%A9%E3%83%95%E3%82%A3%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9-2011%E5%B9%B4-05%E6%9C%88%E5%8F%B7/dp/B004QCS1HW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1301058404&sr=1-1 It's even more beautiful at A4 size!

Japan Times have introduced a new feature - middle column, above Business: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news.htm Some pretty interesting (and interactive) stuff. It took me a bit to figure out, but if you maximize the max radiation level by prefecture pop-up, you can make it full-screen, and it's a lot easier to interact with. Radioactivity concentration in water is in Japanese only at the time of writing.

Just checked the Dengeki Hobby HP: http://hobby.dengeki.com/hobby/index.html picts of a VF-9!?! Fighter and GERWALK!!! Also looks like there is going to be a YF-25 Prophecy, Kwadoran Roo, and a VF-4SL. Call me officially blown away. Reason for checking the website: to find out when the May issue is supposed to be released. It was supposed to be on bookshelves today (the 24th), but it wasn't at the local retailer. Website directs to Amazon.co.jp, which has an alert indicating that there are delays due to the earthquake/tsunami.

The man, the legend, the circus, Ichiro Itano
sketchley replied to Einherjar's topic in Movies and TV Series
This magazine cannot be plugged enough. Even if you don't read Japanese, it's chock full of awesome pictures from a plethora of anime (old school, new school, moe school, sometimes even overseas school (T3/4 robots, BSG, to name a few). Awesome publication. Not too hard on the wallet, and released quarterly. -
Variable Fighter Master File VF-19 Excalibur
sketchley replied to nexxstrait's topic in Movies and TV Series
You're not the only person. It's a pretty cool find, IMHO. -
Hard to say when that will happen. There have been some interventions (Japanese government, G7), but it's still largely under the control of market forces. Such as the revision of the investor ratings on most or all Japanese Insurers to "unprofitable"... which may have a compounding effect if there is a flood of overseas investors altering their portfolios to non-Japanese investments.

Uhm, before you go off on a tirade, did you even read the article the member linked to? Here it is as you appear unable to use the link function:

Fixed. Let's keep the radiation-in-everyday-things in other threads, please and thank you. Radiation rises in Tokyo water (Don't let babies under age 1 drink from the tap, officials say): http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110324a1.html Kan widens ban on contaminated food: http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110324a2.html

I don't particularly remember that line. Maybe it was something along the lines of "we could be as close as 1 year away from discovering the meaning".
