I was under the impression that most widescreen TVs had an inverse-letterbox mode for the proper display of 4:3 images. There a reason you can't do that instead? It works pretty good. So would a ratty pile of 20-year-old speaker wire. We're dealign with DIGITAL signals here. Line quality is MEANINGLESS. Your signal is perfect or non-existant. There IS NO in-between. EVEN if that mattered, what store the cable came from is not important, merely the brand. You are indeed wrong. It doesn't take much RAM at all to get the GUI past 640*480*8. Not even a meg. Again you're wrong. My 2k and 98 boxes BOTH have the option of non-4:3 ratios. Hell, even before it was an OS Windows supported non-4:3 resolutions. 1280*1024 springs to mind as one that virtually everything supports. It's got very little to do with the OS, and a whole lot to do with video chipset and drivers. Wrong AGAIN. DVI and HDMI carry EXACTLY the same digital video signals. They are ELECTRICALLY IDENTICAL for this task. FURTHERMORE, HDMI accepts any signal of the appropriate encoding format, not just HDTV signals. 480i, while not HD in the least, is accepted through HDMI. You can even get signals GREATER THAN HD through an HDMI connector, though the odds that your specific TV is capable of dealing with them are somewhat low(possible, but not probable). ANY video card capable of going past 1024*768 has HD output. HD just means the image has 720 or 1080 lines of resolution. Nothing special there at all. If you have a TV with RGBHV inputs, you can buy a VGA->BNC cable and use that on ANY video card with an analog VGA connector. OR a VGA->BNC and DMI->VGA. But most TVs don't have RGBHV. They usually have component, DVI, and/or HDMI. If you go overseas they have RGBHV, but not through the 5BNC setup I was talking about. So it's fortunate we're dealing with DVI and HDMI here. As far as the 15-pin video port, that's a standard VGA connector. BUT DVI ALSO carries analog VGA signals on it. So AGAIN it's a matter of a small adapter. And how in the hell would changing OSes from Windows to Linux fix the absurd hardware limitations you claim exist(which, fortunately for enthusiasts everywhere, do not)? (much) More expensive than it's PCIe counterpart but it exists. If you're not a hardcore gamer a 6800 anything is too much. It's a waste of cash. If you just want something the supports all newer drivers and DX 9.c get a 5500 with 256 onboard. It's an inexpensive card that does everything. I think the only two games I couldn't play on it were Far Cry and BF 2. HL2 ran just fine. Quit telling him to get something he doesn't need. About that. It was stated last year by a game developer that they are using the univerese how they wish. It isn' a blatent disregard...they are doing just like the Infinities Comics did. They are making their own story from a piece of the Star Wars Universe. And as for me being wrong about Palpatine and his 'ruse', read the novel. He was hurting himself more to make Anakin think Windu was in the wrong. His face WAS distorted by the lightning. It wasn't make up. Direct quote from Palpatine while looking in the mirror "Ah, so the mask becomes the man." Ian was quoting what he thought was going down not what was intended to be seen.

Palpatine wasn't wearing makeup. He was normal. When he was Sidious he had a cloak on to hide his normal features. Mace was using his lightsaber to deflect the lighting back at Palpatine. Palaptine in turn was intensifying the lightning so he looked more desperate to Anakin. His muscles melted right off of his bones. Anakin turns like a bitch, Mace dies. The end.

I loved it. I think hoiw Grievous was built up and died like a biotch and how easily Anakin went over to the dark side(at least how the movie portrayed it without the help of the clone wars cartoons and comics and such) was really....underdone (if you can say that word) but other than that it was better than the first two by far and I hope Lucas gets a bug up his ass to continue sometime in the future.

Thanks for the invite. Regrettably, I actually live in Sacramento. However half of the chapter of the Star Wars costume club that I lead resides in Modesto. We will support the Gallo Art Center charity with our presence (photo ops), some activities and even a set inside the theater that will be up for two months. In fact, here are some pictures of that imperial/star destroyer set at the Brenden Modesto Theater that my chapter vice president and club members have been making. I was wondering what that was. I was there a couple of weeks ago and the only thing there was the wall. Well...I am planning on waiting in line on Sunday (if Brenden and/or the other business's permit it) so maybe if you head down for the premiere I'll see ya. My nickname is Chewie so no confusion there. My group will be the ones with 17 master replicas sabers. hehe.

Perma-Death and Blue-Glowie status NEVER came about. It was taken out of the game. You now suffer xp loss. As for the 3 death thing that is for ALL new players and by the time you reach Jedi I can guarantee you will have died more than 3 times. There are ways to avoid xp loss. Getting rez'd by a doc prevents it. There is a ring called the "mark of the hero" which also prevents it but you can only use it once per 24 hours and it has limited uses. Just try it. Find someone with an account and ask them to play it. If you don't like it, you're not out money and at then you know. - Chewie

Forgot this was the spoiler thread. Yes. Obi kills Grievous with a blaster shot to his "stomache sack" which sends a shock to his brain making his head explode. (or so it was in the book) It's flippin' weak.

A word of advice on signing up. Do it after May 5th. They are totally revamping the combat system with the new expansion. The health system, weapons, armor etc. If you go in now you will have to relearn everything later. Just a word. Jedi isn't all that bad once you have a elite mastered. It's just tedious. VERY tedious. The new system is much better than it was before but again, it was never meant to be super easy and things were messed up but if you want to get into it, try it out. You can walk out the door of you local Gamestop with the whole thing (SWG and both expansions) for $45 plus $15 for your first month. As for which galaxy to join, join one on your coast for starters. Which raises the question....did Palpatine or his master create Anakin? He had no father. Plageous (sp) could make life out of nothing. Who's to say Anakin wasn't created just to become Vader? The emergency landing on Tat - accelerates already laid plans. Anakin's mother dying - Anger blah blah blah. There was nothing stopping Anakin's best friend and advisor from going to get her outside of the Jedi rules. Maul dying - clearly Dooku was already making his move to become Sidous' new apprentice. Was needed. Eh?
